sleepstudent101 Pyforhist I'm the 4th bass. Which sucks, seeing as there's only four of us. But hey, it's not my fault. Our perc. leader is sexist and won't let the two girls play the "big" drums. At least I get 2nd bass for pep-band. Bass 4 OH YEAH!! Same ^___^ except, last year when I was a tiny little freshman, I had the bigass bass 5 XD XD everyone thought it was hilarious. But dang! this junior girl on bass 3 is whinning about how heavy her drum is..I didn't whine about bass 5 as a freshman..so she should shut up, right? Yeah, depending on how big her drum is... our smallest is 24 inches (that's mine) so if she has anything less than that she should stop. Besides, the snares, quads, and bells outweigh the basses.

pit all depends on your attitude. if you're stuck there because you can't play drums, it sucks...BUT if you play for the love of mallets (like me) it's the best section of all. not that i'm bias. 4laugh

I was in pit this year, but my favorite instrument is bass drum. I don't think of it is some transition instrument, I absolutely love it.

I started out with bells[pit] But just today I went for Tenor/Quads.
This is my first time in drumline, let alone first time playing a percussion instrument :

I play second vibes. I'd love to play the tenors, but I can't drum. wink
In pit, I'd love to be on marimba.

This year, which is my sophomore year, I'm playing the lead xylo. Last year I did the same after marching season. I play the clarinet, but I'm addicted to drumline. biggrin

wow. apparently, our school's pit is really small. there's a grand total of 5 of us. we're constantly switching from instrument to instument, trying to keep up with the music.

belladonna_spiral wow. apparently, our school's pit is really small. there's a grand total of 5 of us. we're constantly switching from instrument to instument, trying to keep up with the music. That's better than ours. We don't have a pit. But, seeing as how are marching band plus drumline equals 32 people. That's no suprise.
