But would it be fashion then or self expression? I see that form of freedom leading more to individual taste than "fashion" dictates.

This is true...but that holds for almost everything. Not just the clothes we wear, but the language we use, the way we walk, stand, the way you write, everything which might be seen by someone else is at some level affected by the knowledge that it is to be observed...
Which is getting away from whether women spend more thought, time and effort on expressing themselves in some manner through the clothes they wear, than men do. I think they do (again, this is a "on the whole" statement-of course there will be exceptions).

I see that form of freedom leading more to individual taste than "fashion" dictates. to answer a question with a question, is fashion not a "self expression" in of itself? is it not a art all by itself, just displayed in clothing (or lack of clothing), colors, patterns, and styles? isnt "fashion" an self expression as much as painting, tatoos, or photography, taking your feeling about yourself and portraying them in a solid form you could wear?

I agree that some fashion is a form of self expression, but not all. For some, if not the majority, is a manner of copycatting someone else's sense of what is good to wear. I've seen some awful "fashions" out there that make no sense at all and I doubt truly that the individuals chose those styles because they thought it looked good on them (because most of the time it doesn't).

maybe but some peopel get lame fashions to have fun and sometimes make other people laugh they dont really care wat others think as long as they have a good time

Well, that would be fine I suppose but have you ever thought about how much it cost to stay in "style". That is a hefty hunk of change to fork over to simply make people laugh.

oh well it was worth a trie i guess i got to get food so this debation or watever it is can really get started so who wants chips and dip and punch the dip would be made special with dead fish bones and raw meet i hope you all enjoy xd
