Congratz Miguel!

And commiserations to the others that entered.

Lyssan
now i need to think of something else for us to do.... stare

I have plenty of ideas.

1)the guild home page could do with sprucing up with an image/banner. Set a maximum resolution and file size, and then start a competition. It needn't have only the one winner-it could be a worthy entries earn a 1k gold bounty, or something similar, and rotate the images a la the magic seen in the test posts in the crew lounge.

2)We don't yet have a house picked or set up for the guild mule. For a pretty good attempt at a piratey theme, look here (link should take you there). No I am in no way affiliated to the said bar, appeared on the gaia towns guide guild forum. However, this would be hard to implement as the only gaian housing simulator that I know of is currently broken under current versions of browsers, at least for me (IE7, FF3).

3) An online treasure hunt could be set up. This would either have to be one person's work, or done entirely in PMs, or for non-crew only. Exact details to be worked out.

4) I think a whodunnit would be great fun-set up a mule account for the purpose of being the guilty party, then have a series of clues around a crime scene etc. clues would lead to a specific house in Gaia, and thus to the identity of the perptrator. Or clues could also lead to the name. Clues link to interests in the profile. You get the idea.

i like your ideas... they are really original... especially the treasure hunt... or who-dun-it... not sure how we'd implement them but they are worth the effort to explore the idea... biggrin

I'm busy plotting...on the upper end of the effort scale (but the payout would be amazing) would be to write a greasemonkey script for the treasure hunt (this would require installation of firefox). That way clues, notes and links could be added to pages on the web that we don't own. So for instance, when someone had found the next point in the treasure hunt, an alert box would appear to let the user know they had reached clue number x etc. Or a clue could be added to the text of a page itself.
However, it would take considerably less skill to cheat by reading the script source than it would to write the script, so it wouldn't be feasible to attach a prize of any size to it.

The whodunnit should be relatively easy to implement-the hard part is judging how quickly people can use the limited search tools on gaia to find a person given some data. You would really need to do a test run.

Ideally, a mule is set up and their profile completed, and a house set up. There is then the information on their profile, the address of their house in towns, and the appearance of their avatar to go on in identifying the person. The avatar would only be a feasible lead if you entered the mule as themselves in the arena at some point, and released that as a clue, or to distinguish between the mule and an imposter mule, set up to be identical other than in appearance. The name of the mule is also a possibility-you can search by part of a name in the user search. The address could work-a partial address forcing people to visit a few addresses given other clues to work towards identifying the culprit.

A clue per day out of the above pool is then handed out until the person is found.

There would have to be the rule that competitors didn't try to contact suspects, as we wouldn't want innocent bystanders getting badgered. Also, outsiders may not want their name posted in the thread as a wrong guess, so attempts may have to by via PM to the gamesmaster/mistress. If it was for a prize, then attempts could be limited to one per day, to prevent it from being brute forced.

yes... good ideas on how to make it work... and i was thinking on how to do a low key scavenger hunt... zel sent me this cute toy boat.... maybe we could use inexpensive but unique items which we leave clues for and put on our mule or ourselves.... these items would be changed daily and it could run for say 10 or so days... to give us a long enough list of items... the person or persons at the end who have the most complete list could win... we could have a set amount of cash to give out and it could be divided among the winners.... of course the more winners the less they'd win... but i am hoping the fun element would outweigh that little problem....
