I loooove bassoon. It's my main instrument now, and I'm in love with the sound.
However, I do like oboes. If and only if they know how to play well.

Ima have to say oboe. The bassoon sound rocks but then when ou listen to stuff like "Six Metamorphoses after Ovid" you realize that oboe is just awesomer. That's all there is to it.

I say that they're both extraordinarily hard to play... yet again I am a brass player, you woodwinds are so taboo razz

I play oboe, but I really like all double reed instruments. xd The upper range of a bassoon sounds really cool, and oboes are fantastic when played well. :]

Bassoon, definitely... I'm a bassoon fanatic and a proud bassoonist.
BUT I do love my oboe friends ^^ Double reeds should always stick together, 'cause two reeds are better than one.

i have an oboe here that i tried super hard to learn how to play i failed
and i tried to play a bassoon once, but i couldn't even figure out how to put it together for like 10 minutes
i think i'm just going to stick with clarinet
sound wise though, i think bassoons are gorgeous, and oboes can be..

Hahahaha I'm only saying this because I have two friends and one plays the bassoon and the other playes the oboe. I think Bassoons are better since we call our Oboe friend Duckboy. He sounds like a ducky. XD

Mr Seek Ima have to say oboe. The bassoon sound rocks but then when ou listen to stuff like "Six Metamorphoses after Ovid" you realize that oboe is just awesomer. That's all there is to it. Ah! Yes, that piece is so extrodinary!! biggrin I am an oboe player so I am in passionate love with it. On the contrary, if you listen to 'The Rite of Spring' by Igor Stravinsky... If you listen to the beginning there's a bassoon solo that's up in the stratosphere! & it's so pretty! I advise people to check it out! It'll give you goosebumps!!!!
