((OOC: SO guys, for the sake of being fair, whenever our characters are in blitzball against NPCs other peoples' characters, you will choose the option Post Action: Roll Dice. If you get higher than 50%, then you make the shot/block the shot/etc. Same goes for who wins/loses the game. Obviously if you're in a ridiculous lead, you win if it's down to the last shot of the game... But anyway.))

Nava glanced over at the carrot-top and her eyebrows quirked upwards in an expression of something less than confusion and then her facial features all brightened as she went to rummage through her horde of gil, in search of something.

"Actually, I don't need one.... Bec- Aha!" The sandy blonde fished out the ticket that the crimson woman had left her with. Passing it between her fingers smoothly, the summoner glanced back at the girl with the blitzball, the man to whom the ball belonged.

Glancing back at the pass to the games, she scanned over it; it was elaborate, detailing seats and times and all sorts of things... Nava didn't understand it. Of course, she knew how to read but she didn't understand what all the details on the ticket meant; she'd never been to a blitzball tournament, much less an actual game... She knew the fundamentals; there were teams, they played with the blitzball and they played in a 'sphere pool'.

"Umm... What does this ticket mean?" Nava asked, standing fluiddly, quickly handing over the ticket. The crimson flash had left her with it, and apparently it was an excellent seat, although Nava was oblivious to that fact. Holding the ticket out to the naturally more masculine one of the trio, as he seemed to be knowledgeable of the ticket functions, Nava passed the female a shameful glance, shaking her head.

"I-It's a long story... I just recently started my pilgrimage, but... Well, I'm from Kilika. One of the only ones th-that...survived..." Nava spoke feebly, an underlying emotion lacing her words with bittersweet tidings as her gaze fell to the ground and she began to sway thoughtfully.

Her brow furrowed as if in effort to keep her face straight, as one does when trying not to cry; with a heavy intake of breath, the guardian smiled sourly.

"I don't have guardians yet... And I haven't really eaten in three days. Not since Kilika..." Nava looked up, just as her angry midsection voiced its opinion, growling loudly. Nava rattled out an embarrassed laugh, shaking her head.

"Sorry..."

[Okidokie. And just so you know, Spawn, Olivia isn't wearing armor anymore.. She had taken it off, as I thought I made clear in my first post, but I guess not. Sorry for not making myself more clear.]

Olivia ignored the man as she listened to the summoner. So she had no guardians, and hadn't eaten for three days? She was from Kilika no less! The poor girl. Well, never fear, the great warrior Olivia was now here! This was great. Could Olivia be this girl's guardian?

She would be able to travel throughout Spira! That had always been her dream, and she had accomplished a great deal of it being a Crusader, but being a guardian was a whole different experience.. Yes, she had decided.

"Well, first thing first. Don't worry about Kilika. The Crusaders are there now." Olivia felt no reason to say that she was one of them, though if the girl asked, she would most likely tell her. "And second," she placed a comforting hand on the girl's shoulder, "we need to get you something to eat." Olivia didn't ask about becoming the summoner's guardian yet. That could wait after she was fed.

"Now you," Olivia said, turning to the man. "Next time practice somewhere safer," she said to him, handing over the blitzball. Her eyebrows rose as he offered them the blitzball tickets. Olivia actually didn't get hers yet, so the offer was tempting. Olivia opened her mouth to reply but shut it when the summoner began talking.

After she was done Olivia smiled. She quickly took the ticket from her before the man could and examined it. "Good seat," she murmured, "you got this from that girl, right? Guess she was a blitzball player player after all.." Trailing off Olivia looked back at the man. "I think we'll take these though," Olivia said, taking the two tickets from him.

"This way we can sit together," Olivia told the girl with a wink. "So, anyway, you. Who do you play for?" She asked the man.

(( OOC: Aaah...my apologizes. I'll do my best not to make the same mistake twice :3 ))

Eavesdropping was a practice he did not often participate in. However, while standing before the two females, he felt as if he were invading a private conversation as the apparent summoner explained her history briefly. Sympathy for the sandy blonde enveloped the orange haired male as his oceanic gaze rested on her features, thoughts scrambling through his mind. Was it not selfish to be playing blitzball at such a time? When hearts were mourning and eyes shed crystalline tears…was it not mockery?

Apparently not.

Apparently, the people needed to be distracted from the heartache. Yevon wanted the citizens of Spira to forget about Sin and his havoc upon the innocent.

Well if that was all this blitzball player could do to assist the people of Spira…then so be it.

Blinking in rapid succession as he was snapped out of his daydreaming by the ebony haired female’s voice, the male reached out to take his lost blitzball. “Yes Ma’am,” he reply lacking in even a hint of mockery. “Sorry again for interrupting your conversation and all…” Hand still outstretched and loosely gripping the offered stadium tickets, the tallest of the trio’s face fell when he saw that the summoner already possessed a ticket. He had nothing else to offer them in compensation...unless they wanted some pocket lent or something.

Watching as the darkly clad female examined the turquoise-eyed other’s game pass, the male shifted his weight from one foot to the other, feeling only slightly awkward. However, as the emerald-eyed female accepted his offering, a smile lit up on his lightly tanned features, his oceanic eyes sparkling. “Oh, I play for—“

“There you are.”

Cut off by a curt and frost laced voice, the orange haired male blinked while surprise etched itself upon his features. Turning his body completely around to face the newcomer, azure irises collided with those of pure liquid metal. Lips twitching into his typical lopsided grin, the orange-haired male took a step towards the other male, a hand rising to rub the back of his neck. “Hey Phil, what’cha doin’ here?”

Full lips were set in a grim line as a delicate black eyebrow rose towards his hairline. Parting his lips to speak in a voice that seemed weighted with authority, the newcomer took calculated steps towards the trio, his amble graceful enough to be reminiscent of a dancer’s. “What you are doing here is a more appropriate question.” Lithe arms were crossed before a lean chest, clutching what appeared to be a doll quite possessively. Contrasting his somewhat dark demeanor, the childish cactuar plushie was a noticeable jade green against his ebony long sleeved shirt and deep violet dyed vest.

“Well…you see…” Offering a lopsided grin, the orange haired male chanced a glance to the two females now standing behind him, an unreadable expression encompassing his features. “I was—“

“I do not have time for your excuses.” Interrupting the other for a second time, the silver-eyed male’s chiseled features seemed burdened with irritation and exhaustion, as if he was ready to pass out any moment. Inhaling deeply, the darkly clad male raised a slender hand to vampire pale features, using slender digits to brush ebony tresses, hinted with lavender, away from his eyes. “Hurry to the locker room, DKay is assembling the team together.”

Cheerful features lessened in happiness for a beat when his grinning lips faltered at the mention of “DKay.” However, the azure-eyed male shook off his feelings with a nod of his head at the other’s command. Turning so he could see both the two females and the silver-eyed other with a mere turn of his head in either direction, the blitzball player offered a grin while pointing to the plushie bearing male. “Hey, this is my team’s manager, Philip Winchester. I’m gonna leave you guys with him. He’ll take care of ya.” Turning his head in time to catch Philip’s raised brow of confusion, the orange haired male continued speaking in his upbeat tone. “Phil, take these two out to eat somewhere before our game starts would ya? I owe ‘em.”

Offering a mock salute accompanied by a playful wink, the tanned male bid a quick “Thanks!” and “See ya!” and set his booted feet into motion, running off in the direction of the stadium, leaving a very confused team manager in his wake.

Blinking metal irises slowly, the darkly clad male’s eyes narrowed as Philip inhaled deeply, the words, “I hate you” falling from his lips in a whisper. Exhaling deeply from his mouth, the ebony haired male turned to the two females, his gaze rising up and down their forms, as if his piercing stare could see through to their very heart and being. “I apologize for Dylan…I’m sure he must have caused you both some amount of grief.”

(( OOCx2: Sorry the ending was very rushed...just wanted to get this post up by tonight. Also, Philip's profile will be up soon...so I didn't go too deep into a detailed description of him. ))

Following the ebony-haired katana wielder with her eyes, Nava's thoughts bounced along idly, tuning in and out of the conversation as she tried to ignore her grouching stomach.

When the girl suggested sitting together, Nava smiled thankfully, glad she wouldn't be lost, but... She didn't even know this girl. Did it really matter now, though...? Luca was huge, and Nava was quite alone. She really couldn't say no to having a friend right now, after she'd failed so miserably so far... Wasn't it a summoner's job to defend and support the people of Spira anyway? If having a summoner nearby for the game made this green-eyed girl happy... Then so be it.

Nava opened her mouth to ask for their names a moment too late as an oddly shrill voice permeated the almost one-sided conversation, shutting everyone up. A stark white male approached, soon having the attention of the blitzball-playing redhead male; turquoise eyes scanned the newest of the new, picking up on a few minute similarities between the redhead and the onyx-haired man. They obviously knew each other but Nava wouldn't be surprised if they were somehow related... Tucking this away in her useless cache of mental notes and observations, she snapped back to reality as the man with the blitzball took off, leaving them with his team manager, Philip...

Nava blinked slowly before bowing.
"No apologies necessary," the blonde-haired summoner spoke formally, rising from her stoop with a relaxed expression, guarded and precise. Smiling she shook her head.

"He accidentally missed the ball, no harm done. He g-..."Nava was interrupted by a rather loud growling from her torso, her expression becoming annoyed and somewhat embarassed.

"Sorry... I haven't eaten in er...three days... B-But I will." The homeless summoner floundered for a moment, her sheltered, child-like nature gracing her demeanor for a fleeting moment. Deciding to remain silent for now, the little islander simply folded her hands in front of her, hoping to slip someone else into the limelight.

Kaiya swam languidly through the sphere pool’s water. Having finished her warm-ups in the water, she waited for the game to begin, slightly bored, having seen that their opponents didn’t seem to be too talented in general. Throughout their warm-ups, they had passed and fumbled balls left and right, and she was starting to wonder whether it was actually just a show to make her team feel cocky and overconfident. No team that bad could possibly make it into the tournament, could they? Either they were doing it on purpose to try to throw them off (which definitely wouldn’t work since her team would play their until they were certain of a win) or they had a first class case of the jitters.

She sighed, waiting for the actual game to begin so that she could actually find out whether the players on the opposing team were any good. Certainly it would be good to have an easy first game to get their spirits up, but too easy a game wouldn’t help them prepare for any more difficult teams they were bound to play later in the tournament. Hopefully the team would play a little better than they practiced or they’d be absolutely massacred before the first half of the game had even finished. She swam over to her cousin who watched the team just as skeptically as she herself had been eying them and they made eye contact for a brief moment, wordlessly sharing their opinions on the opposing team. She wasn’t too surprised when he seemed to agree and find the other team just as boring as she did.

A large gong sounded and the players moved to their positions as the blitzball game began.

Olivia was aching for his answer. Because when he did tell what team he was on she was going to regain more of her childish nature and make sure not to root for him. Though he was cut off as another man approached. Her eyes followed the other blitzball player until he was out of sight and then her focus was back on the man before her. Olivia found herself nodding agreeably to the summoner's words.

A worried smile formed on Olivia's lips when the girl's stomach growled. "Yes she will," Olivia agreed with the girl. "As for taking us out to eat, that won't be necessary," she told him politely. "These tickets are quite enough. We can find somewhere to eat ourselves." She side-glanced at the summoner, hoping she would agree.

Olivia wasn't one to pass up a free meal, much less with a handsome male, but Olivia had things to discuss with the summoner. The first thing was to get the girl fed and then possibly request to be her guardian. Though, maybe it would be best to wait until after the tournament..

Oh, it was certainly a good thing Dylan was unaware of the ebony-haired female’s thoughts…or he would be heartbroken.

Silver irises regarded the two females with an air of indifference, his curiosity of them kept to a bare minimum. All he had left the team’s locker room for was to retrieve his orange-haired brother…he had not asked to be placed in such a predicament. As far as he knew, he did not deserve it either. He swore, half of his life was spent picking up his twin’s messes.

Curse family relations.

Raising a brow at the summoner’s stomach, a pang of empathy struck his cold heart and his icy demeanor melted, if only slightly. How long ago was it that he suffered hunger and poverty…how miraculous had it felt to have someone help him?

Curse compassionate feelings.

“Your mind already seems made up that you do not wish to accompany me.” His voice was not monotone, though it was quiet and his lips moved slowly as he pronounced each syllable, the words falling from his lips like a melody. “Though since I think it was for your friend’s sake my brother asked me to take you to dine, I will allow her to decide.” Although he did not meant to sound as if he disregarded the other female’s opinion, he was merely blunt in thought and speech, doing whatever he deemed correct.

Deviating silver pools towards the sandy blonde female, the male continued to clutch onto his plushie, his appearance softened slightly by the doll. Parting his lips to speak, the male offered the introduction his brother failed to offer, his tone polite as always. “My name is Philip Winchester by the way, by brother is Dylan Winchester. He plays as one of the offenders for the Farplane Pyreflies, while I am the team manager.” Raising a hand to gesture towards the tickets the ebony-haired female grasped onto, he continued speaking in his languid tone, “If Dylan gave you those tickets…then they are probably V.I.P. seats. We were given some to give to friends and I recall that Dylan never offered his to anyone. You might have the pleasure of sitting near Grand Maester Mika…wouldn’t that be an honor.” Towards the end of his speech, the onyx-haired male’s tone seemed to veer towards sarcastic, though his features remained indifferent.

Although the comment seemed off-handed and casual, a glint in his eyes harbored an emotion not there when the females first met Philip. Silver pools hardened, glimmering with purpose.

Curious…very…curious.

Nava's expression froze over into mute stillness as her eyes wandered off somewhere else. She wasn't used to making menial decisions for herself like this... She'd always worked in, for, and with the temple at Kilika, and small things were always taken care of before she knew that a decision was necessary.

But now...
On one hand, she had a girl who was particularly interested in her for being a summoner, and she had accepted the tickets, but not the hospitality... And then there was Philip, who didn't seem particularly enthused about hanging around with them, but made a point to note that Dylan never gave up his tickets, and didn't seem to mind taking them to get food...

Nava's turquoise, thick-rimmed eyes focused once more, her gaze shifting to Philip as she stood up straight, regaining something of a summoners' formality. Smiling politely, she nodded to him and gave a quick bow.

"We'll go with you, but we can probably pay for ourselves... And you do not need to stay if you wouldn't like to; I'm sure you've got other tasks to fulfill, being the team manager and all. I think he'd rather know that we went to eat, rather than took the tickets and vanished..." Nava nodded, glancing at Olivia.

"I don't mean to offend you, either; I just think it would be polite to accept the offer, if we're taking the tickets..." The summoner nodded and smiled minutely.

Olivia frowned but was truly delighted. She know knew to not cheer for the Farplane Pyreflies. She was also delighted to find out that they would be in V.I.P. seats. She'd never sat there before, and she could very well meet Grand Measter Mika! Olivia caught his slight use of sarcasm but paid it no mind.

Hearing the summoner's answer Olivia nodded her head. "Very well," she said and then smiled at Nava. "No offense at all My Lady," Olivia told her, bowing her head respectfully. Then looking back at Philip, Olivia's face became simply neutral. "Let's go then."

He was not one to judge prematurely.

He was not one to make assumptions or jump to conclusions.

But was that a touch of hostility in the ebony-clad female’s mannerisms?

Whatever had Philip done to offend?

…Like he really cared.

“Very well then.” Speaking with his naturally quiet tone, the male picked up one foot and began walking in a graceful saunter, still clutching onto his cactaur doll. “Many of the restaurants are closed now because of the tournament, but there is one that I visited that remained open.” Now that the first game was underway, much of the masses of people crowding the streets had diminished, only a few stranglers hurriedly making their way. Somewhat grateful that he no longer had to push and shove his way through the throng of flesh, the male threaded freely down the paved street, his booted feet clicking lightly on the ground with each step.

“I am actually rather expendable to the team from this point forward.” He explained in response to the summoner’s polite offer for him to leave should he desire. Whether he did actually harbor such a desire, the male did not make an effort to verbalize or display it. Instead, he maintained his cool and indifferent demeanor, though, for the sake of diplomacy, he attempted to melt his icy exterior ever so slightly.

“May I inquire as to what your names are?” Walking ahead of the two females, Philip cast a glance at the sandy blonde and onyx-haired female, his silver irises obscured slightly as a sea breeze gently danced with his bangs, putting them out of place.

He did not seem like a particularly “bad” person. Though, he supposed, he probably should make an effort to appear more compassionate and friendly.

…Bah.

(( OOC: By the way, Meenchi and I were talking earlier...and we both found it amusing and somewhat interesting that Olivia doesn't like either Dylan or Philip. It's rather unique of you :3 Provides for intriquing relationships. ))

Nava scrambled over to her rickety box of Gil, snatching it up with her staff before catching up to Philip and Olivia, the money clinking rhythmically as she walked with it. Glancing up at the manager, she quickly looked away as she caught his gaze before it was obscured by his hair. She wasn't particularly embarrassed, but there was something eerie about him. Something about his demeanor, and his expressions... Something made that ever famous 'little voice in her head' scream out to her, bearing tidings of ill will.

This thought did embarrass her though.
How rude it was of her to assume something so negative, when she hadn't even known him for any decent amount of time. Ah well, he never needed to know what her racing thoughts meditated upon. Looking ahead, she took a deep breath, moving ever onwards.

Catching his words vaguely, the summoner cut Philip a glance, biting her lip; she had been raised to give any number of formal introductions. A traditional bow, followed by her full name and which temple she came from, her full name first, followed by a bow, and any other number of combinations... However, this wasn't a normal introduction. So would it be improper to use a common introduction...? What exactly was a 'common introduction', anyway?

"My name...is Nava." The little summoner spoke shortly, her words stiff and formal still. She looked at the cobblestones in mild frustration as she followed along, vaguely aware that she was sort of disappointed with her social inadequacy. Maybe she should have waited to see how Olivia would introduce herself...

((sorry for how late it is that I'm making this reply; I went out with soem friends before they were all leaving to go home.))

Kaiya was bored off her rockers. There was no other way to describe the feelings welling up inside of her. Nearly halfway through the game and the score was 7-1, Paradise Lost-Jetsam Beaters. Sighing, she glanced across the sphere to her cousin, looking just as aggravated at the lack of action as she was. They exchanged a look of commiseration before returning their attentions to the game; not that they needed to pay attention to win the game. The Jetsam Beaters, as the other team called themselves, had not improved their play whatsoever between their warmup session and the first half of the game. They were a complete joke, and Kaiya had asked the goalie to please miss once so that the other team could score a shot and hopefully c=gain confidence from it to be a better team. Needless to say, her tactic hadn't succeeded in the least, and the fans were becoming bored with this total annihilation. They needed a little more action to be held enthralled; in fact, they'd even stopped cheering whenever Kaiya and her mates had scored a point. This was lame. She wondered how the pitiful team had ever made it this far, and was curious as to whether the officials would actually let the game play out to the finish or if they'd just mercifully disqualify the other team. suddenly the halfway point came and the gong was sounded though about a third of the fans had already left, figuring it was a done game. she swam out of the pool and to her teammates who all looked like they were about to fall asleep from boredom, "Hey guys, maybe they'll pick it up in the second half?" she said hopefully though she knew it came out more as a question and any statement of confidence.

They all gave her identical looks of disbelief and she shrugged once looking resigned and slightly pouty, "Yeah, yeah, I know. At least you can't say I didn't try." She sat down on one of the benches and leaned her head back, wishing she could take a nice short nap, since she was sure she wouldn't really be needed for the second half anymore.

[[Heh, really? Yes, I suppose it does provide for intriguing realtionships. We'll see what happens.]]

Olivia followed closely behind Phillip. It seemed she was stuck with the man for the time being. Might as well not lose sight of him. Luckily he was somewhat handsome, or this would be even worse. She wondered how she would ask the summoner if she could be her guardian now. She supposed it would have to wait until after the game after all.

She looked up at the man with raised brows when asked for their names. She immediately felt like being childish and not replying but pushed that thought away. Besides, her ears perked when the summoner spoke her name, Nava had said her name. It would be best to go along with what Nava did to secure a position as the girl's guardian.

"Olivia," she told him simply. She found no need to be either formal or polite to the man. Maybe if she was rude enough he would decide to leave them. Though, she did not know how that would affect Nava. Maybe it was best to tolerate him for now. Yes, that would probably be best.

Somewhat handsome?

Philip was one of the better fishes in the sea, if he did say so himself.

Though he was no Adonis among men, the black mage regarded himself as dressed well and defiantly not an absolute horror to glance upon. Somewhat handome…bah.

Booted feet sounding lightly upon the ground, the darkly clad male heard both their names, registering it within his mind with a nod of his head. He was doubtful that he should ever have to cross paths with either of the two ever again…however, one never knew what Destiny planned for the future. Spira, it seemed, was often a world of fantasy…anything could happen.

Having heard enough of the conversation between the two females and his brother, he gathered that the sandy blonde was a summoner. By the look of it…not a particularly powerful one. Though, he supposed, appearances were deceiving. Curiosity tugged at his mind however as to what the ebony-clad female did for her living. He supposed however, if he were to ask…he would be met with an icy response.

And he hardly cared to make small talk with someone that seemed so unwilling.

“You have started your pilgrimage then?” Parting his lips to speak with Nava, the male finally stopped by a small shop, the sign overhead reading in elegant script, “Luca’s Finest.” Prying one hand from his crossed arms, the male tugged on the wooden door, opening it without much effort. Instantly, an air of sweet smelling delicacies wafted from the inside of the restaurant, the clatter of silverware and soft voices echoing from the homely environment.

Brightly lit with several overhead lamps, the restaurant was mostly empty save for two other small parties, eating what looked indeed like Luca’s finest. Wooden tables with scarlet red tablecloths and accented with white napkins, the room was painted an off-white, creamy color, matching well with the wood furnished flooring. Although it was quaint and harbored an air of comforting relaxation, it seemed expensive enough to put a dent into anyone’s pocket.

Holding the door open, the onyx-haired male offered the closest to a smile that he could manage at the time, giving slight bow. “Ladies first.”

Nava glanced up at the sign of the eatery they approached, and her stomach bottomed out; anything with the word 'Finest' sounded out of her price range at the moment, and she had said they could pay for themselves... She probably had enough for something small, but... the boat fare... Ah well. She would just have to work many times harder later; she wasn't going back on her word.

The summoner winced, when asked if she'd started her pilgrimage and she looked away quickly, avoiding Olivia and Philip.
"Not exactly...I've already become a summoner, and obtained my first aeon... But I've run into some shameful difficulties. I'm terrible."Nava replied quietly, bowing when he opened the door and walking in.

"K-...Kilika...was my home. I was raised in the temple there. And I completed the trials recently, and received Ifrit. But three days ago, Kilika was destroyed..." the summoner continued in a reserved tone, her expression reluctantly smoothing over, although it remained distant.

Nava glanced at the temple entrance curiously.

Maybe it was nothing but... There was an odd feeling in the air. Or rather, the lack of feeling. The lack of anything, really. No air, no sound... Deciding to not worry about it, she went back to routine practice. Her hands deftly maneuvered the rod of her staff in flamboyant rotations before finally tossing the staff into the air, watching it as it twisted...

Suddenly, all the candles blew out and the skies outside darkened, roaring deafeningly as the summoner's rod clattered to the ground, seemingly noiseless in comparison to everything else. As the clamor of the skies died down, Nava could hear screams from the village and her brows furrowed in fear. Running for the exit, Nava realized that something was horribly wrong as her feet began to slide backwards beneath her, being pulled backwards. The islander's fear mounted soaringly as she glanced around; priests and workers were lifting off the ground as well, followed by every uprooted object in sight.

She felt like she was being sucked into some sort of straight shot whirlpool... As Nava was pulled up off the ground, she caught sight of some sort of wave shoot past the temple walls. This was the last sight she saw before the suction became exorbitantly powerful, slamming her hard into the wall...

When Nava came to, she was surrounded by medics and priests, all swirling in and out of focus. She hardly recalled what was said, or who it was said by, but she had caught pieces of conversation.

Sin. Destruction. Death.

The summoner felt increasingly powerless as she made her way out of the temple, despite unheard protests, flying down to the docks. Everything was destroyed. Homes. Lives... All of Kilika village was destroyed.

Nava felt so small.
She had been granted the title of summoner and yet, she hadn't been able to save anyone... Her whole village had been destroyed, and she hadn't been able to do anything... The islander's hands white-knuckled around the rod of her staff subconsciously as she wondered who had survived.

"Kilika is basically gone now. I was supposed to go to Besaid soon... But I was sent here before I could get my affairs in order, and I've been left with nothing. Thus, I was performing to get boat fare to go there... It hasn't been very lucrative though, since everyone's been coming and going solely for the Blitzball game..." Nava sighed quietly, trying to press the conversation forward, not actually intending to depress anyone.
