well if only I hit it big with the lotto, this little hobby on gaia wouldn't be so pain in my @@@. stare Totally gave up supporting gaia as of late, evaluating if I should spend some real moolah again for my upcoming b-day. Or maybe not. crying Money complicates things, I think gaia is taking advantage on most of the gaia users. With the rising gas prices, quitting smoking sure save some moolah; I've been on gaia since 03; off and on, this is a disappointment how the monthly's went down a whole deal.

I personally love Evolving Items, but this fish thing really grinds my gears. I don't really have much interest in it anyway, but the idea of a fish which dies costing 4 real cash dollars is a bit disheartening.

If Gaia is going to continue trying so hard to force everyone to get Gaia Cash so they can buy any items of value in the future, then they need to release all their Thank You Letters from previous years again. It is obvious they do not care enough about the Monthly Collectibles anymore to generate ideas for them that are as interesting as the Evolving Items. So, why not give everybody the opportunity to purchase prior MCs? That will help make their prices drop in the Marketplace, making it more affordable for all of us to acquire what we want for our avatars. It would also keep people interested in buying the letters because they could look forward to getting some of the previous collectibles for that month. 3nodding

So true! It would be great if they would sell old MCs (as in a year or two old) in the shops. Alas, I can't see it happening.

i don´t like the aquarium, guess a real one can be cheaper .
the idea with the MC´s from last year sounds very interesting but i think that would make some people really mad.
maybe they should make some kind of mighty letter you can buy and inside is one random MC from the beginning until now. that would lower the prize and still let them make some money.
but the best way for gaia would be stop changing everything in cash.
i´m now since 2 years on gaia and so many things changed, some get better some doesn´t. i still like to dress my avi and like to visit my guilds, but i don´t want to pay for everything.

I have mixed feelings on that. I'd love to snag a coco, sash, or other neato classic MC, but part of me understands the limited appeal as well. (Maybe also I don't want the bratty 12 year olds boo-hooing about how they can't get an original halo to get their way-- I'm evil) Right now Gaia's trying to overdo it with the "rare" fancy items. It's like one a week pops out. There is something to be said about delayed gratification -shakes cane and rattles dentures- back in my day we had to wait a whole month for the new MC to come out!! Now there is an overwhelming number of items. I liken it a bit to magic the gathering- if you try to collect all of it you're going to spend an UNGODLY amount of real money, and a new widget will just come out next week.

Now there is an issue of the newbies slinking on after the classic MCs. They're using mom and dad's money to try to accumulate Gaia wealth to gobble up all the goodies from long ago. Once upon a time Gaia rewarded those who had remained loyal users of the site for years. Now, it seems to have tossed aside classic Gaia users in pursuit of kids with mom and dad's visa/mastercard.

They need to stop exhausting their creative resources, flooding the Gaia space with pixelated Frankenstein after pixel-ated Frankenstein, and stop depreciating the value of "rare" items. Quest items should be actually nifty and be worth something. Gaia needs to lay off the new feature orgy and start improving the existing ones. Let us save progress with ease during fishing, give guilds something fun to use, update the housing items (I feel like Gaia houses have been completely forgotten), let our avatars sit on the furniture in towns, and update the once "weekly" comic more often and not just with strips trying to promote the new cash shop.

Yeah, I could kick myself for not joining Gaia when I first came across it several years ago, but I have still been a user on here over a year now. Although I have managed to accumulate several nicer pieces of equipment, be they Cash Shop items or otherwise, it was done so through my own efforts. I have not begged even once for someone to donate to me, and I use my own cash to buy Monthly Collectibles, Evolving Items, etc. So, I definitely understand the appeal of making these inpatient, melodramatic parasites have to wait for once in their lives. It would just be nice if I did not have to save up quite as long to get such things either. neutral

The aquarium doesn't excite me at all, I mean who wants to pay for fish that die! I predict that more and more fish items will turn up in daily chance, because they'll be trying to spur more interest in it, I really can't imagine that people would waste money on this. At least outlaying for evolving items gives you a bit more of a return...

i have a aquarium, i've filled it with various fish i either got from daily chance or fish that came with it. i refuse to buy anything for the damn thing. once the fish die, i'll just flush them down the toilet and sell off my aquarium stuff. these money sinks are getting more rediculous every time i log on.

It's too bad, I really liked the idea of the fishtanks, until I found out that they cost real monies.

The only reason I got this aquarium thing was because I thought just maybe it'd be like a real aquarium in that it would lower my blood pressure and stress levels. I'm thinking like what Buick says, once the orignal fish (the ones I've gotten from daily chance and such) no longer exist I will not use it any more (unless I get more from daily chance). We shall see. I do know that I get 30 gold for each day that I visit my aquarium, which is nice as I'm still on a quest to get that "Prince's Gold Rapier" (or however the heck you spell that name xd ).

It's sad to think that Gaia is putting so much emphasis on the Gaia Cash aspect of its site. I am like everyone else (at least from what I can gather), poor. I can't afford much even in real life. sweatdrop It's soo hard and I think they're trying too hard on cash items and not enough on the other items. I remember when there used to be GOOD items in the shops. Not any more. confused I mean I saved up a lot of money just to get my wench skirts (I still am trying to get a few more) and even all my dresses I wear (that aren't "prom" related) are all part of my hard earned GOLD not CASH! sweatdrop

I noted that too.
Considering all the real cash that they're making, I would have thought that there would be more staff (as there is money coming in to pay real Gaia staff) and less bugs (the computer software kind, not the creepy crawly ones). But it's not happening! More cash items, more bugs! Someone somewhere is making a tidy profit out of this. rolleyes
