It 's a pity. I would have loved to see how they portrayed him. They probablt decided not to, because they didn't have anyone to fit his part. crying

hi. May I join? I have lost track of how many times I have seen the movies and I am on the 2nd book. J.R.R. Tolkien is awesome! I like the second movie the best.

Old Tom Bombadil is a merry fellow,
Bright blue his jacket is, and his boots are yellow.
None has ever caught him yet, for Tom, he is the master:
His songs are the stronger songs, and his feet are faster

*sigh* I was very dissapointed he wasn't in the movie! They skipped a whole part. But do you know? In the extended version of the Two towers Treebeard says one of his lines after Pippin and Merry get trapped in a mean old willow tree.
I heard somewhere that he is in the Lord of the Rings Online game.... might check youtube for that one.

"The way is shut.
It was made by those who are dead.
And the dead keep it.
The way is shut."

Woot! Love lotr! And more i love the writer of the insane series J.R.R Tolkien! *applause* woo hoo please let me join i can quote the movies perfectly. and i am reading the first book after reading the hobbit.

P.S. Orcs would be really good at screamo (See third movie in one of the gate houses of Baradur.)

I thought the book spent a ridiculous amount of writing on describing stuff too, say the face of a mountain. I guess all that detail on lineage and places are necessary because it gives the complete sense of the world which makes it a classic but I think the movies did a better job portraying the mood and what not. Customes and music rocked >.<

I loved it. The book and the movie. Even though I'm an avid reader and have read the books before (woot!), I would still say I prefer to watch the movie just because the books aren't exactly light reading. Know what I mean? They're GREAT, and some of the characters are completely different than in the movies (see Pippin), but you have to admit that it's not an easy read.

All the same, I LOVE them both! heart
