ok sorry guys I've been so busy for the past week. I'm moving to a new house and its been sucking up a lot of time. but i'm going to be busy for probably the next week trying to get everything settled in but its going to be a very nice place to possibly live in for a like 10 years. Its a two story 3 bedroom house with 2 bathrooms and a full basement with all wood floors. Theres a archway that leads from the humungous living room to the dining room where the 1/2 bath was recently built and then from there it curves into the kitchen then the laundry room and then through there it leads into the two car garage. There is a entry way to the basement through the garage and kitchen. There is also a 1/2 attic. So huge place and guess how much it is a month. 1000.0? 2000.00? nope its 550.00 a month. freaking steal. so well talk with you all at the end of this.

Holy crap Godley!! I pay 625 a month for a shitty little 700 square foot, 1 bedroom apartment with a kitchen so small that when you drop something, no matter where you are in the room, it lands in the middle of the floor. gonk This is the 3rd year we've been here and they're actually raising our rent again because our lease is up. The hubby and I are trying to get on the ball and find a house of our own, but I don't know if we'll be able to do it before the lease needs renewing again. Houses are so expensive. How did you find that steal of a house?

I think that it all had to do with location. I think that we are paying around $700 per month on a house with 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a downstairs kitchen, and upstairs kitchen, a great room, a dining room, a deck, and a back yard. It is also in one of those picturesque suburban neighborhoods. The only problem is that we have hardly any closet space. xp But, it all depends on the area that you live in. However, with gas prices as they are, being close to work/stores is very important.

yeah we're about 4 miles from everyones work. and the way we found this place, we were looking for a house we were supposed to walk through with a guy on the same street and we seen it just sitting there like a jewel.

Sheeeesh! I can only hope that the hubby and I can find a place as great sounding as you two's house! Are you both renting? Or buying?

We are buying it. It was about $150K actually. We are going to be paying it off for a LONG time...

I can't seem to find anything in my area that is as cheap as 150. gonk Anything lower than... say... 180 tends to be condominiums. *crosses fingers* But I'll keep looking, hopefully we'll find something great too.

The region also plays a huge part. There aren't exactly tons of people waiting to move to Alabama... sweatdrop I suppose that properties would be more expensive in more desirable places to live. I know of some houses that cost less than 100K. I have a friend whose parents bought a house in the 70's (in a backwoods area) for about 20K. It is all about location. Then again, just because the property taxes are low and the housing market is favorable, doesn't mean that I want to live here for the rest of my life. xp But Mira, keep looking and I will be rooting for you. biggrin

Yes, that's true. We've thought about moving somewhere cheaper, but we'd really like to stay close to my husband's work, especially considering the economy. Unfortunately, it's in a place that I don't really like very much. stressed But I can probably live just about anywhere. I'm so sick of living in this tiny apartment that it's driving me a bit batty. I would LOVE to have a garden. The spring and summer are so hard for me. I've got pots out on my deck, but they're not quite big enough to grow zucchini and corn and tomatoes and all that good stuff. lol
*Glomps* Thank you! It means a lot to me to know I've got people rooting for me. xd I'm a bit terrified that we'll get a bad deal, so I'm trying to do some reading up on it and all that. Did you use a realtor to find your house?

We did, but I can't remember who we used. Our search was more for the perfect house than for a deal. My grandparents (not just my grandmother) were going to move in with us, so we had to find a house that was like two houses. We found a nice split level with an entry way that had a set of stairs going up and another one going down. It almost feels like two apartments stacked. We couldn't do the basement apartment thing because my grandparents aren't good with stairs, so the half stairs work. But right now, there is no place that I would rather be than back at college in my dorm room.
We have a large backyard, but I am too lazy to do anything with it. I planted some catmints from seeds and I have them in a pot in the backyard. It is a deep green plant with tiny purple flowers. It is very pretty. biggrin
