I like to believe that a majority of people are socio-sexual and reform to what is popular in their community making them effectively bisexual, but more likely to train themselves in being one or the other. Beyond the socio there are people who are distinctly straight and distinctly gay as well. Perhaps even people who are distinctly bi or pan. But not everyone is bi.

Even if someone is bisexual they can choose to identify themselves as straight if they feel particularly strongly toward one gender over the other despite being attracted to either. I know plenty of people who are like this. They identify as straight, but feel that sex/gender should not matter all that much and if the person they happened to fall in love with was the same sex/gender as them they wouldn't mind.

"We're all gay, it just depends on to what extent."
