I rather enjoy being part of romance RPs. It gives me time to think about how to act by a girl and what they want... And it kinda helps me out IRL. 3nodding

Well, having nothing better to do and as sleeping does not yet seem to be an option I decided to say something here as well. I am a male, and I enjoy all facets of roleplay, though honestly I tend to favor the romantic and story-telling aspects nowadays. When I was younger I enjoyed any chance to throw my characters into a fray, but honestly combat does not interest me as much anymore. I still enjoy it from time to time, but it's hardly as entertaining as a good story, or a chance to actually interact with someone's character beyond trying to kill one another.
I'm also quite capable of playing any sex, a lot of that comes from life experience and having a lot of friends of the opposite sex, who a number of which have no trouble talking to me about anything, even the things I would sometimes rather not hear about. Stereotypes are easy to tend toward, but that's one of the plusses of forum roleplay. You can take a few more moments to look over and think about what you are going to do rather than having to worry about the fact that you are wasting precious roleplaying time with someone who is waiting on your reply in a chat room. (Even if I do get some badgering about posting here sometimes, too.)
As for why a number of men are less apt to enjoy romantic roleplay than women, well, as it has been previously stated there are a number of different reasons. Ones that do not really mesh on a whole, as for each individual it can be different. With one example being that it does not allow some to show off their 'ub3r' character's 'ub3r-n3ss' as much as they might like, as a sidenote this can apply to women, too, just not as often. That also encompasses an area of people who believe that all women should fawn over their character without them doing any actual work, no need for the whole romance part of it. Of course some of this is a measure of resentment toward what has become of roleplay in the chat rooms I once frequented, where people now can meet for the first time, fall in love, and have a baby all in the same day! (Okay, well usually the baby doesn't happen until the next day. Maybe two or three days. -.- )
*Clears his throat.* Yeah, it also can be a number of other things, such as worrying over what other people would think. The football player does not exactly get his 'props' for hanging about on Gaia forum's waxing poetic, even if he might be good at it. That's a bit of a stereotypical example, from way too many movies bent for this purpose, but eh, it works.
Anyway, I'm done rambling for the time being, I might continue later.

Back to what Illy and Capri were saying about physical/emotional differences between men and women...
I KNOW, HUH? Finally, people that understand exactly where I'm coming from when talking about how men are stronger than women.
I took a feminism class for a diversity credit last semester, and there was this girl that refused to accept that men have more muscle mass in general due to their higher levels of testosterone.
Her: "There are women with a whole lot more muscle mass than any man I've seen walking this campus." Me: "Yeah, and they're all on the Russian Olympics team. I'm talking regularly here, on a day to day basis." Her: "No, no, we can carry just as much weight as them, we just need to carry it on our hips and not in our arms." Me: *Deadpan* "...So we're going to do heavy labor and construct bridges... with our hips..."
I swear I was the only person in that class that didn't call themselves a femenist. It was the most ridiculous waste of time and tuition money I think I've ever experienced.

Also! Illy- we should trade genders. :3
