The art from any arina tanemura anime adaption is normally great especially the eyes OWO <3
Nana has amazing art aswell
I didn't like the art from kaleido star but the animation itself was amazing especially with the stage performances i find how swift the movements in that is fantastic <3

I'm screaming now, screaming now, screaming now.
And the far distant star continues to swirl

Nobody has yet mentioned Miyazaki films, which surely deserve a shoutout. I thought Howl's Moving Castle, Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, NausicaƤ of the Valley of the Wind, Laputa: Castle in the Sky, My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service and Porco Rosso were all beautifully animated films. Not to mention a few other films animated by Studio Ghibli, such as Tales From Earthsea, The Cat Returns and Pom Poko. Other anime films I also believe were beautifully animated are Metropolis and Ghost In The Shell. Putting animation like this against series like Rurouni Kenshin really makes me smile.

I want to see more Studio Ghibli and Miyazaki movies, I've only seen Princess Mononoke and The Cat Returns (which I didn't even get to see the end =/ )

But yeah, Cher, you mentioned Rurouni Kenshin which made me think, has anyone seen the Kenshin OVA, Samurai X: Trust and Betrayal?

I though it had some great animation and art.

EDIT:
I forgot about Totoro! How dare I! That was such a sweet movie.

ahhh! How could we forget Ghibli!? I thought the art for Howl's Moving Castle was absolutely gorgeous! And the art for Spirited away as well. All of the art they do is beautiful, and incredibly detailed. I've always been curious about Grave of the Fireflies - I hear that's Miyazaki as well?
And Meggi, I shall show you more. :3

Definitely watch more Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli films if you get the chance to. Totoro is my favourite so far, mainly due to how incredibly touching it is (^o^)

Howl and Spirited Away really are a couple of the most beautifully animated films of all time! The best thing about Miyazaki's films is that they just seem to get better and better. He's not a man who will settle for sub-par quality films, even with his fame and acclaim. Other animators tend to rest on safe once they strike it big, because they know people will buy their films no matter what crap they produce. That's what I love about him. You can't deny his passion and definitely can't knock his films for poor quality.

xD shin chan = worst art but its one of the funniest things ive seen in a while.

best art in my opinion is a tie between kino's journey, cowboy bebop, and Akira.

i respect akiras art the most because it was made in the 80's and still have better animation then most anime today. wink
PostPosted: Tue Jul 22, 2008 1:34 pm

I was waiting for someone to mention Akira (^___^) It's unusual how technology has improved, yet you canreally see the effort animators used to put into anime comnpared to today.

Is Shin chan that strange anime about a little boy?

Totoro is my favorite as well! x3
I keep wanting to watch Spirited Away, but every time I'm presented with a chance I'm not in a movie mood. I'm not big on movies - even animated ones - so I have to be in a certain mood to watch them. I really want to see it though, hopefully the opportunity will present itself soon when I'm in a movie mood! =]

Am I the only one that prefers the older animation to the newer stuff? I mean, I like how it flows better, but I don't like how everything kinda looks...generic and fake D:

Haha, I'm exactly the same! I can't just chuck a film on when the mood isn't right XD I've got soooo many recorded on Sky that I still need to watch (x____X)

O.M.G. THAT'S what that's called. I think that's like. . the stupidest show ever - and I've only ever seen one episode. A friend and I were up real late one night and it came on. We could never remember the name, but we like to reminisce about the rreally weird, really dumb show we saw at 2 am. XD

Yeah, that's bad.
