I think the reason people get acne there is because of the oil glands, though. I know tons of people who never see sunlight who have bad acne there. Oil from the hair follicles goes down the back, and it's harder to wash, and the face is full of oil pumps. Sunlight is okay for things like that, blotchy or oily skin, granted not too much, because can be really bad for you also. You need a balance, to little, you'll get pasty, blotchy, and if you're always covered you're skin stays oily, moist and can't breathe, too much = sunburn.

It is good to wear a top or something to the beach though if you're sensitive, because light reflecting off the water causes even stronger sunburn.

Also, if you don't already, get 8 hours of sleep, 8 glasses of water a day and eat super healthy. avoid too much unhealthy stuff, because I think it's a major contributor to controllable acne, dry or oily skin. Sometimes though, it's just in your genes.

Hmm...Have you ever tried natural remedies?
For reducing redness, I sugest dabbing the zits with toothpaste and leaving it on overnight. It usually does the trick for me.

As to cleansers, I can't really give advice on what brand you should use. It kind of varies for each person. Because certain brands can give people break outs while the others don't.

What you need to focus on is what you use. It is a good advice to have a cleanser, toner, and moisterizer to use almost everyday. Then once a week, use something to exfoliate your skin or a mask. Don't do it super often.

Edit: On the toothpaste part, don't use it everyday or throw a giant blob onto your face. Only use it on a super bright red pimple. It's only supposed to get it to become less red, not get rid of it. Don't use the gel toothpaste either. It won't work.

Also, there is a chance green tea helps alot. Idk if it's true because I've never been able to remeber to drink a cup a day, but that is just something I heard.

I don't know if it is appropiate to state this in the forum, but on the topic of birth control, at what age did you get it?

I'm still in my mid-teens, and I really want it. Not because of sex, but because of the benefits that come with it like clearer skin and less periods.

I need help on asking my parents about it with out them freaking out thinking it is about sex.

I started it at 14 or so. My cycles were KILLER! Cramps so bad I often vomited from the pain. The pill helped a lot. My mom understood because hers used to be just as bad. I can understand though why a parent would be hesitant to get birth control, not only because they might think you're having sex, but also because a lot of people would rather not take unnecessary medication, like benadril to help you sleep, etc, because it might even cause more harm than good. I'd suggest talking with your parents with a doctor about the benefits. That way you and they know you are doing it for the reasons you stated and that you won't be causing more harm by taking a pill for something other than it's intended reason.

Toothpaste has always worked very well for me. But only use it if the pimple has come to a head. The toothpaste will dry it out and make it fall off, taking everything inside the blemish with it. You can also use moistened baking soda the same way. Or use baking soda or a tear of toilet paper to on the other side of the toothpaste to keep it from sticking to everything.
If it's just a little red and swollen, but with no real head yet, you can usually get it to go down with lemon juice. It helps when you put it directly on the blemish and it helps when you drink it. The trick with using lemon juice is that if it's going to help, you'll know immediately.
If it feels soothing and cooling, and the redness starts going down immediately, then it's working, and you should leave it on for a few minutes. Don't leave it on all night or the sugar in the juice will clog your pores.
If it hurts, even a little, and it gets redder, then it's an open wound and wash the juice right out.

You cannot use lemon juice after toothpaste.
