When you toss your flag, remember to CATCH it, or you'll end up with a black eye...again...

yeah... catching it may be a good idea....especially when you have to do a 45 toss and turn to the right and catch or else you get push-ups... and if you don't catch it it will hit you in the eye for sure lol

Stordahl
do not toss multi colored flags during windy weather. it lill blow off to the side, u will grab the silk, and have half of a flag

and that, my friend, is why you push the flag towards the wind. we always practice in the wind! it was my first year and i hit myself int he same spot on my forehead with a strip toss three times cuz i undercompensated for the wind. =]

never practice rifle in the rain... very bad, and expensive things will happen

as i said before, we practice in all weather. our band camp rained almost the entire time, and then regionals it poured and snowed and hail and whatnot lotsa wind twentysome degrees [ive been sayin thirtysome but was recently corrected that no, it was only in the twenties] and we still practiceperform. if you dont practice in it you'll die when you have to perform in it.

as my band teacher/coach says... "It's not raining until Arata (my coach) says it's raining" and "What rain? There's no rain. It's sunny, even with the dark clouds in the sky. How should i know why your hair is wet? i know it's not rain making it wet"

When performing a switch toss ( a toss that requires two people to toss and then catch their partner's flag), do not pull back. I know from personal experience that if you have to step backwards to catch your partners flag you will get hit in the head with your own flag. And it not only hurts, but it makes you paranoid because you can't see it coming. (At least that's what it did to me)

Also, when tossing a six on rifle in the cafeteria, make sure you are not standing under a light. You WILL hit it. And if you're unlucky it will get more than just a dent.

Never EVER run over your flag with a car or let a freshman sew up the rip she madei n your flag without supervision

There's a rule in our band that forbids Drumline/Pit to date Colorguard. But we do it anyway. I don't date Colorguard though. I've dated the top Drum Major...XD. But there's a kid named Curt that's pretty much a Colorguard whore. XD
But...
Don't mess with Colorguard flags in front of the Colorguard and Drumline section masters when they're watching...if you're in Drumline...then you get Drumline pushups and the Colorguard gets to beat you with broken sabers...

Ooh. I have got a TON of these! mrgreen

My favorite:

When having MB practice inside the auditorium b/c it's raining to hard outside, do NOT decide to do a reverse-reverse windmill in the tiny little aisles that separtate the sections of seats! It WILL bang into the back of one seat and come back at you, hitting you in the eyebrow-vacinity of your face!

But here's the most crucial part:

Do NOT attampt to do it again the day before school pictures! You'll hit yourself a second time and end up losing part of your eyebrow, which won't grow back until the following summer!

Do NOT trade your flag for a majorette baton and allow said majorette to do one of her routines with it. She'll end up trying one of their figure 8's and hit herself in the center of her forehead. You will then laugh hysterically at the enormous red mark left behind and end up having her snatch the baton away and then throw it at you.

Do NOT let the freshmen carry your pole up Agony Hill. She will likely drop the poles she is carrying, meaning that you must help her chase them down the hill. It's not fun.

Explanations:

Agony Hill: It's this really steep hill that we have to walk up/down in order to get to the middle school parking lot, where we practice. It was rightly named Agony Hill. :3

Freshmen Bit: It's tradition to make the freshmen/new members carry the older girls' poles up Agony Hill. Even though we're supposed to, I don't trust their noobish hand on my Mr. Nacho Sanchez! evil

If a judge is in the way, don't veer off in another direction.
He will either move or you get to hit him, either way its his fault for not paying attention.
