Our line is always over half female. It's awesome. smile And our harnesses... well I'm fine when I get MY harness. I'm kinda screwed when I'm put on another drum for auditions, even if it's smaller (I was bass 4 of 5 for two seasons), so I think my back just molded to it, or something... And the harnesses hurt guys too! At least one got hurt anyway.

this may sound stupid, but I've never heard of a girl-friendly drum harness. And I don't think they actually exist. Even I think the harneses aren't the best equipement, but we have new ones that are just an ache in the neck. They don't hang, diagonal, but they actually are harnesses that rest totally on your front of your torso, and they are a lot nicer.

Hahaha, i'm short , so my bass drum harness left all sorts of bruises on me! It didn't help that the pads under the shoulder part of the harness were ripped off!
It didn't really hurt my girls though, just pressure!

Ahaha. I totally agree! I'm a chickie bass drummer and our racks are supposed to be for all genders but, i'm thinking no. They totally squished your boobs and when they fixed that the bottom rested above my hips and killed my ovaries! Haha. I loved it. =]]

iamsomud yeah...our entire bass line is all girls, and then we have a girl snare player. we have probly put the harnesses every which way and they still don't feel right. just never march in jeans, that total kills off your hips.... yes, all girl bass line. we were amazing!! but then our co-captain was unable to march becuz she was sooo sick and had to quit the entire season. but the harnesses for her and me had to be completely re-done. our percussion instructor took them home and made copper parts for them so they were shorter. ive grown though so now mine doesnt fit. but i march the 5 bass and even though my harness was shorter i still had "permanent" bruises on my hips. ahhh. harnesses are NOT girl friendly. and since girls made up over half the line (for a little while anyways) our instructor heard a lot of stuff about them but we got used to them. sad evil harnesses

Well, this year we had three girls on our line, (two on bass and me on Tennor).
The bass harnesses aren't that bad. They would complain, but after wearing a tennor harness, it hardly felt like I was carring something.
Tennor harnesses cut in right between your hip bones, right on your legs, and right behind your neck. At least, mine did. And I was my school's first female Tennor player, so it was always ajusted to guys, and it was really old, so it was hard to ajust to me. And when we did, it would never stay right. It moved around a lot.
But I have to say, after playing it this season, I can't say I would want to play any other drum. heart

Have you ever tried to play snare? It's painful. And guys, don't try to call girls babies. You try it if you think you're so indestructable.

I played quads for The homecoming game at the highschool. Lucky me got the biggest harness and the corners bruised all up and down my thighs and upper legs. Later that week, the bruises were still dark as ever and the smart b***h I am decided to wear shorts cuz it was extremely hot that day. My dad saw the bruises from the corners and yelled "Who gave you those hickies?!" And sure enough the small bruises were round and fit the description. So the entire time I was trying to explain to him what they were, he was to busy staring at them. When I was finished, I knew he wasn't paying attention because all he said was , "What did you say his name was?" And he popped his knuckles like the imaginary boyfriend was right there next to me. XD I told my friend because It was my first time with the harness, and He laughed and said HAHAHA!!! I SWEAR IT WAS BRANDON'S IDEA NOT TO TELL YOU COULD ADJUST IT TO YOUR ABDOMEN!!! And so I hit BOTH guys in my percussion section, because it was all a joke to see if I would be in pain afterwards, or if I could handle it. ARRRG. I hope a harness digs into one of their *Bleeps* rofl rofl rofl
