I guess the only thing i could say is to maybe add a few more mods to maake up for the ones who aren't here all the time and to make it easier on the mods that are already there.

(personal thoughts)
Maybe its just my background that sais this but I seek a purpose of being here. I often question why i'm here and the ATG did give me some things i'm happy about and I just feel I should give back.

About your personal thoughts:
Well...your purpose should be to have fun.
Yeah...I know that sounds wild, regarding the current situation, but it wasn't always like that.
We do try to bring the good old days back, though...hence this thread.
The tricky part about that is...that it's tricky...that's why we want your opinions.
Well would it be so bad to have a little help with the thread cleaning and decision making?

I have hope that one day, like back when I first joined, members would help point problem threads/posts/members out to mods so they could be dealt with, rather than just yelling at it themselves with no follow through. Thus bringing members back into the processes of cleaning up the guild and giving them a sense of motivation to do so.

Everything I have to say has already been said. i miss the IDD subforum dearly, I was sad when you all got rid of it. At the time though I didn't think it my place to say anything and I regret it.

Oddly enough, I agree with Sav. I know the threads like the "Say something about the person above you" thread were the things that helped me to start talking in here. It's sort of how I got to know people. So, I think the games and RP subforum should be gotten rid of, hopefully to be turned back into the IDD.

I also agree with the mod redo, or something of the sort. I remember a lot of the mods used to be active, but they no longer are so there's very few of you actually working to get this place to run smoothly. Then again, as members we should be helping in ways we can.

I remember when we first made the IDD Subform, because moving the spam and games would have made the place look dead or those who looked for those things wouldn't be as likely to look in Subforms than people who wanted real discussions...than it all died out and was replaced by the RP/Game Subform.

Moral of the story...Subforms die.

If we are going to make a subform...make a Spam form and we can throw all the CB's BS in there than delete it as it dies out.

Quoted for truth. I agree whole-heartedly with you, Ladi.

Hm...by the way...many mods who don't post here alot do things like handling newcomers, planning events and cleaning stuff up...the works so to speak.
They're just lurking...not dead.
(Although there are some inactive ones...it's just not that everyone who doesn'T post in here is...)

Oh...and the regular member part of me says:
"I also miss the IDD subforum..." wink

Well the reason that doesn't work was because there were no mods to fix it when it happened

Explanation: I have this on a PM because i'm afraid that it will be ignored like many of my posts in the past

I understand your concern. I don't ever ignore people! biggrin I am trying to get the Mods to do a Introduction to your Moderators so that members have a list of who is on and when. So even if we aren't looking at the guild you know you can PM us.
Also lots of people have suggested reworking the Mods and adding new Mods.

Would you mind if I posted this back to the thread, because I think a lot of people might be feeling the same way.

This part sure.

Alright for everyone saying we need the IDD subforum back and the Games subforum destroyed:
I'd like you all to try and remember wayyyyy back because that's exactly how we had it set up in here before. Remember all the complaints from people saying that their IDD topic wasn't getting enough attention. Remember all the complaints from members who couldn't find any sort of discussion going on on the main page because of all the games. Go look in the game room and think about all those threads getting moved here in the main page. Think about how clogged it will look. Think about how difficult it is right now to have decent discussions then imagine trying to sort through page after page to find non-game topics.

Just try to remember the way it used to be and/or imagine what that would be like before making up your mind.

I think it could be disastrous to have all the games back here...one or two would be manageable...but, it's just not likely that it would stay that way.
As for the IDD subforum, if you guys really think we need it back, I'm sure that can be arranged. But, just be prepared for it to be very slow....very...very....very...slow after a couple weeks probably and for there to be even less serious discussion on the main page (another past complaint).

1) Remove inactive mods. Mods that haven't been around for a looooong time. We need to have active mods proportional to the activity of the ATG.

2) Keep the RP subforum and the marketplace subforum.

3) Allow people to submit applications for modship for the existing mods to consider with ONYX acting as a veto.

4) Contests with prizes in the main, contests without prizes stay in the subforum.

5) The application process needs to be a short (few sentences minimum) application of why someone wants to join the ATG.

6) Suggestions to the ATG mods should be a regular thing and the mods should report back to whether the suggestions are accepted or denied and explain why.

That's all for now.

I think this guild needs some spring cleaning. Replace all the old mods who left with active people, replace the subforums with one to act as an ATG chatterbox, be more thurough with the people we let in here (because everyone's more then noticed the n00bs), and get fun little guild contests and junk up.

You know what was large issues too, when you all removes the IDD even with the IDD's CONTRIBUTERS saying not to do it. In fact you all told us that the serious threads wouldn't die, I think we can see that you made a miscalculation. The games will not push anything out look at the bottom half of the main page. The threads there are stagnet.

You know how much attention IDD threads get, about one little burst before they are overtaken and left for dead. In fact all of the IDD threads moved into the main forum died with good support from people.

The IDD was a good place, the games didn't overly dominate the Forum, they were the most important icebreakers we had, and most likly led to the ATG thriving. Have a sub forum for the two slow posting threads, the RP's and the IDD people need a slower thread for both of the topics there.

Remove the marketplace subforum, here one good reason NO ONE WILL EVER USE IT. It is deader then anything else here, and it is useless. I don't see any active threads. Novel idea but it is not used and thus should be tunred into a useful place.

I see a lot of people talking about "inactive" mods. However, I really don't know of that many of us that are truly "inactive". Perhaps only 2-3...

A large amount of the Mods have been working behind the curtains because they didn't want to get in the way or be attacked for doing their jobs.

I do think we need a couple more Mods. I do believe that Mods need to be nominated by both members and moderators. Because all we Mods are suppose to be is guild members with the power to keep things in order. We aren't suppose to be "Big Brother" or "Prison Guards"...we are suppose to be your friends who help you keep the guild clean of junk.
However because of a lot of various situations our Mods have become one extreme or the other, which is what we are now fixing.

Hm, you know, it seems like the same things are being repeated in here. Kind of like a...dare I say it..a consensus of ideas! Certain elements should stay: IDD games...the current sub forums for the games and the market place seem appropriate for content control (and the sub forums are not ignored)...so maybe there aren't a lot of huge changes in the guild that need to be made.

I agree we need some more active mod participation, perhaps through adding a few new mods to the existing group of active mods to help you all out. Maybe it is time to weed out those who haven't logged in for a LONG time for possible retirement? Or leave them in and just add a few new ones...it would help keep things current and provide something for newer members to someday aspire to, should they prove their worth to the existing mods. Mod status should be an honorable responsibility bestowed on others, not just given at random. So I support the concept of an application process for review by existing mods. But maybe allow the guild members to vote in the final selection? This way the rest of us can have a say in who represents us as well...although it should not be the final say, that right is reserved for the ACTUAL mods!

Aw man, my art thread is still active! A year strong too! Pout...well, if the marketplace goes, I hope I can ask for my thread to be moved so I can keep doing avis for guild members.

Most thread there are dead, I look there once every now and agian and the same threads are there.

Games are the most important part of the ATG and should be on the front page.

Saverio C.
Games are the most important part of the ATG and should be on the front page.

I disagree. This isn't the Any Game Guild...the point is for discussion.
I agree the games are good for icebreakers and it would be nice to have those on the main page instead of just relying on the Phunkeh thread. However, too many those games can quickly fill up the main page and block room for any kind of discussion. I remember quite clearly coming in here and only seeing threads with titles like "Letter Game" "Letter Game 2" "___ the avi above you" "___ ___ the avi above you" "__ __ the avi above you AND below you".
Also, the game room is not dead. As far as subforums go, from what I've seen, it's more active than most.

I think the Marketplace probably should be removed...I agree that it's the most inactive thing in this guild...Maybe we could turn it into a new IDD subforum and see how it goes.

And Sav, when we removed the IDD subforum the first time, not enough people came forward to protest it. We really are just trying to do what's best for the guild as a whole...we're not perfect and sometimes things that work for a little while, stop working...things change. One solution at one point in time may not be appropriate for another...

Maybe we could make some sort of compromise...like bringing out the most popular game thread "Say something about the avi above you" and use that as a second ice breaker...but, leave the rest of the not-as-popular games in the subforum. I mean, Phunkeh is an exception to the no chat threads...maybe the AAY thread could be our exception to the games rule in order to encourage more activity from our members...?

I'd prefer not have half the front page of the guild filled with games personally. I'd prefer good ones since this is primarily a talking guild.

I'll have to try to work on finding my academic or in depth topics for discussion.
