I haven't read ID yet, I'm still on the wait list at the library. I really hope it doesn't end soon, I have a feeling it's just getting warmed up really. I mean, Anita needs to quit godmodding, but other than that and the books slowly turning into smut books I think the series could go on for a long while yet.

Anita and all this new power could very well be the begining of some great story telling. It would be fun to down the road refer to these books as The Smut Arc xp

Having not read Incubus Dreams, I still have not gotten any vibes that might signal the end of the series. The only hint I could find would be that the series has oh-so-many books... Too many more may be overkill?

Too many more may be overkill? That could be it too since I think it just may be the longest series I've read revolving around the same character.

I have several authors I love that have over 20 books revolving around the same characters.

Narniakat I have several authors I love that have over 20 books revolving around the same characters. Oh, I love it, don't get me wrong. But few authors can pull it off without completely mutilating the series at the end. I'd love it if she could keep it up, though. Just not getting my hopes up. >P

Yeah, I'll be sad when the Anita Blake series ends, it really is original, good reading. I suppose I can always get addicted to whatever she writes next, but it just won't be quite the same... crying
I hope it doesn't end soon... Although I would rather that the series ends than have it get to the point when you just want it to end.
On a completely unrelated note, Not hating Richard quite as much after reading ID.. Still kinda mad at him though...

I dont know how it could possibly end with the way Incubus Dreams was written. Most of the book was smut and whatever chance this book had for a decent storyline was thrown out the door with what I call "The instructional pamphlet on how to go down". If it ends, I hope its the kind of ending where Anita Blake fans can sigh with satisfaction knowing there once kick butt heroine came back from the ardure abyss with a vengeance to reclaim herself and for once, actually have everything be allright.

I've finsihed the whole series and it sounds like it's comming to an end. As much as we'd love for it not to end, it does sound like Anita is about to give up in her fights.
How it should end? I think the series should end with her marrying someone....who though i'm not sure. o.OIf I was her I'd say Micah or asher...-nods- but that's me heehee... I definitely don't want it to end with her dieing. That would just bring about another novel, because if she dies, she takes the two trimuatives with her, bringing about a major destruction. It'll lead to questions like who's the next Master of the City? What about the Council? What happens to the Wolf pack and the leopard pard?

If it ends, I hope its the kind of ending where Anita Blake fans can sigh with satisfaction knowing there once kick butt heroine came back from the ardure abyss with a vengeance to reclaim herself and for once, actually have everything be allright. "The instructional pamphlet on how to go down" <- That perfectly describes it. I wondered if I was the only one who noticed that the smutty parts of the book was heavy on the oral. If I wasn't sure before it's been made clear to me just what Anita's favorite sexual act is. For a good part of the book I just kept mentally referring to Anita as Deep Throat. I don't mind smut in the series, I've stated that before, but it really was a good way to really tear a reader away from the plot. I felt like I was being transported into a Real Sex special for a moment. I would have rather seen those paragraphs devoted to catching Vittorio than giving me a play by play of oral sex action. It was an attention breaker for me. Especially the moment where I had to set down the book and go "Wtf? Bloopers?!". If any of you who have read don't catch the story reference PM me and I'll point you in the right direction.
