SilentBlackTiger IceStormV1 SilentBlackTiger You're the best in the world, until you fight someone better than you. Well, duh. Tiers only determine Who has the edge if the players controlling them are equal but they are there. For example, I play against my cousin alot. We are about of equal skill. He usually plays as Fox and Shiek, so I play as Marth and Falcon. Why? because If I choose someone like Pichu. I get my a** handed to me. Any fighting game has tiers. They are real and they do matter. To say they don't exist is idiotic. As I said, tiers are merely there for potential; idealistically speaking. Example: Gimpyfish. Fantastic Bowser player. Takes out spacies all the time. But according to tiers, he should lose, shouldn't he? I guess according to the logic that tiers matter, Gimpyfish sucks, Chudat sucks, and Taj sucks. Yet, they all placed in the top 10 at MLG this year. I stand by my opinion. Tiers don't exist; it's up to the player. Tiers are only a suggestion, as it were. I see what you mean, but the tier list is made in the assumption that the opponent matched were of even skill level. If you have a Bowser matched up against a Fox, and both players are at the exact same skill level, the Fox player will win. Of course, it gets hazy when you try to measure skill. It's not black and white, but you should get the point it makes xp I do agree that player skill > tier list, but that means nothing when two people are at the same skill level.

I'm sorry but when we get into conversations like this it never fails to see someone try and compare their fights with friends with those of real professionals. I'm as good as my friend playing Shiek while I play with Yoshi but that doesn't make Yoshi any better than Shiek, it just makes me a better player in general.

Well i havent fought a pro so i cant compare myself to them, all i know is i like playing the game and dont like people who get so competive over a game, i can be competive but it gets on my nerves sometimes.

Why would that get on your nerves? What's the point of trying to get at something if you're never going to use that skill? Like anything else, you train at SSBM to be able to go somewhere with your abilities. You don't see a football player train for years, and never join a team. Than it would be pointless to train and get good in the first place. In that same way, it's pointless to train and get good at a video game if you are never going to use that skill.

Aye, Melo does know what he's talking about. blaugh
As for the tier list, I see what you mean; It is based around "equal skill" yet it's very hard to determine a "skill" level amongst players.
More to come later; I'm at work. ninja
