Benjamin had had a very weird summer, between his sister half living at home and half living at Roxie's, being invited to go to his sister's show by Tsia, then finding out that his mom and dad were dating again. That had been an interesting day... He was glad that at least it wasn't some random guy that his mother was dating, but it was still very weird to find out that it was his dad. After they discovered that fact, his parents didn't need to hide their relationship anymore, and now he was visiting a lot more. He was even trying to connect with Benji a lot more, which was weird for the boy. He didn't really have much in common with his dad, but the man was making an effort. Dad had even sat down with him while he was working on his campaign for the upcoming school year and listened to Benji talk about his world.
On the morning of the trip to school, Benji woke up to his parents cooking breakfast together. It was just going to be the three of them since Liv had more or less moved in over at Roxie's. Dad helped him finish packing up his trunk, then get Gandalf ready for transport. Then Mom apparated all three of them to the platform. Benji wasn't used to having his dad there to see him off, but this was something he might be able to get used to. "Alright kiddo, I don't know if I say this enough, but I'm proud of you," Oliver said, ruffling his son's hair. Benjamin grinned at his dad, then responded, "Thanks, Dad. It's gonna be a good year." His mom pulled him into an embrace and kissed his head. "God, Benji, you're getting so tall. Stop growing, okay?" Benjamin laughed and hugged his mother back, then said, "Gosh, c'mon Mom, you gotta let me go." Oliver chuckled and looped Liz in a hug. He ushered her away, the two giving a final wave to Benji.
While his parents disappeared into the throng of parents headed back to their homes, Benji went off to locate his friends. Specifically he was looking for Tsia because he was excited to see her more than anyone. He also knew that she was looking after her younger sister and she might need some assistance. Stuffing his hands into his pockets, he fished out Gandalf and petted the frog's head. Benji was growing like a bean sprout and he was able to use his height to spot them. Waving, he made his way over to the sisters with a grin on his face. "Hey Tsia! Hello Coty. Good to see you both," he said, Gandalf's head poking up out of his shirt pocket.

Hand in hand, the girls worked on making their way to the train. Tsia was looking around to see if she could find her friends, but Coty was just excited to look around. She was able to see kids of all sorts of ages, most in uniform, but some wearing fun clothes. She even saw some familiar faces from her dads' shops. That was pretty fun. She looked over when Tsia waved to someone, but the redhead was a little too short to see who it was. "Benji! Hey! There you are. We were looking for someone to sit with, and you're always a good choice." Tsia grinned, and Coty wondered if she was having a crush. Gross.
"Hey Benji! I'm going to school with you guys this year!" Sure, Benji was Tsia's friend, but he'd always been nice to Coty too. Besides, he would probably be excited too! "Yea, Coty's coming too. She's really excited." Tsia agreed, followed by a little hoo-hoot from the owl in the cage beside them. "Mango's excited too," Coty giggled, though the owl had been to school a couple times already. Tsia nodded and sent an odd grin toward Benji. Coty wasn't quite sure what that meant, but Tsia was using it to apologize a bit for her sister's eagerness to go.

As with every year, September first was an absolute madhouse. This year was the Heulwen's turn to host the big "Before School Breakfast", and Meallan had been helping cook all morning. Eventually, the Abrams (including Lewis, Su, and Sierra) joined in for breakfast. Thankfully, Mama was a fast pancake flipper. They all chatted happily, a slew of mixed emotions about going to school. Mea knew most about his siblings' worries of the year. Rey was nervous about exams - but also about Finn's wellbeing (especially since he was currently in Egypt... or somewhere on the trek home). Bryn was concerned about having to hide from Rian with Chabbit again, despite his, Rey's, and Rosa's insistence that they'd keep him safe. Rosa was usually eager for school, as was Wen, despite the fact that he was also worried about Rian. It was a little trickier to navigate his feelings, but Wen was usually pretty good about going to Rosa for help if he needed it. It helped that both of them could go to Hogsmeade this year too.
After all the family had made it, Morwenna and Tegen joined the breakfast as well. Thankfully, there was plenty of room in the little house, despite the crowd. Since their parents were always busy with the farm, the girls had been invited to breakfast here so they could go to the platform with a big family. Besides, they were basically family anyway. Plus, they liked pancakes, so why not? Once everyone had eaten their fill, the collective group was apparated to the train platform. It was busy as usual, but Mea toggled the "loud places" setting on his hearing aids, sighing in relief when a lot of the excess noise faded out.
Wen was in the middle of a passionate argument about becoming Seeker while Lewis and Uncle Dris nodded. Mea was certain this wasn't their first time hearing this discussion. Echo hooted softly in his cage, but the small owl was scooting on his perch. Mea slipped a few extra treats in between the bars. "I know, bud. It's loud, but we'll be on the train soon." He grinned over at Wenn, walking closer to the others. Rey was looking out for Finn, but Mea's short height wasn't much to help spot him. Most likely, Finn would see Lewis or Uncle Dris first, since both were super tall. Then again, Rey's scarlet curls were hard to miss, even in a crowd. It was crazy to think this was their sixth year on the train, and even more because the whole family was accounted for. He hoped (not for the first time) that his mums wouldn't be lonely without them there. Usually the house wasn't terribly loud, since the Heulwens tended to be quieter than their Abrams counterparts, but he had to imagine their mums missed the ruckus. He sighed softly as he looked over the crowd, trying to prepare for the year ahead.

Elara was very excited to go to school. Ever since she was born, at least one of her siblings was at Hogwarts for most of the year. After (im)patiently waiting for eleven years, it was finally her turn. She'd be joining her older brother and her aunt, both who were starting their sixth year. Elara put on her new uniform, then had help from Mika to tie her hair in a fancy braided bun. Mika's own long hair was worn down, though with a braided halo to accent. The family ate a nice, hearty breakfast, with the group discussing school. Elara made sure to listen for whatever information she could gather. She wanted to be fully aware of everything that was going to happen, because her parents seemed to think she'd prefer the mystery of the event.
When it was finally time to go, the three students were apparated by the grown ups. The platform was insane, but it was probably fine. "I can't believe we're going to have an empty house. We've always had at least one of you with us." Elara looked up at her mom, who seemed determined not to cry. "It'll be okay, Mum. You guys can go on like... a hundred dates. Make it romantic. Or hang out with Jules. I dunno." She grinned, before getting a head pat from mum's robo-hand. "Don't mess up my hair!" the preteen puffed up with annoyance, trying to straighten her blonde hair back down.
Mika was looking out - probably for her boyfriend - but at least she didn't notice the scandalous attempt at mussing up Lara's hair. "Sorry, sorry. You look perfect, don't worry," mum said, though with that little hint of chiding in her tone. Elara stuck out her tongue, the go-to move for someone her age. She hoped that soon she'd have her own friends, but for now she'd have to be content with family.
Finneas MacDavis-Grey Gryffindor │ Seventh Year │ Seventeen Years Old │ Gryffindor Prefect │ Single
It had been a whirl of events this morning that Finn traveled several thousand miles to catch a train in London. It was Aunt Lynn’s full intention to have everything wrapped up before the trip home a week ago, but some exciting discoveries made while on site caused her to delay the final journey. As the whole team was caught up in the excitement, all of them lost track of time. The end of August arrived and nearly passed without notice, were it not for a strongly worded note from Mom reminding Aunt Lynn that she needed to get him on the train on time.
Much to his chagrin, Finn hadn’t the time to stop at home before needing to be on the platform, and none of his school things were gathered, at least, not by his hand. Linsey promised to pack his trunk and other luggage, saving Mom and Da the task, adding she’d help a fellow Rabbit get a leg-up, as this was to be his last year at Music Club. Of course, it was to be his last year of everything at Hogwarts, with NEWTs to add to his coursework and his study time. Finn was sad to have to depart, as he gained an appreciation for the Land of the Pharaohs, earned some real friendships among the team who worked with his aunt, and picked up a good deal of practical experience that would carry him in good stead at school.
After loading up the last of his kit, after waking up at the camp outside of Sakkara, and saying farewells to the team, Finn and Aunt Lynn began the long trip back to London. It was almost a shock when they stopped in Milan, as it was cooler and wetter than he was accustomed to now. They stopped into a wine shop, as Lynn explained she needed to pick up a little something for Mom, before they arrived at a little family-owned restaurant in the Old Quarter of the city, well away from the usual tourist places.
The owners instantly welcomed him and Lynn in for breakfast, and Finn discovered they were the first guests of the morning. The meal was a leisurely affair, the food hot and filling and served with copious amounts of wine, and the owners’ sons inquired into Linsey and Ella, and were summarily disappointed to learn Linsey was married to a big-time Quidditch star, and that Ella had a beau of her own these days.
Learning he was taking his last ride to Hogwarts, the owners assembled a box lunch for two (Finn may have mentioned Rey a time or two, and showed them a picture …), and a fresh tiramisu and a bottle of wine (Lynn discreetly confiscating the latter) for later, for which Finn thanked them profusely. By the time they departed, it was getting closer to when they needed to be there than Finn would have liked. After taking their leave, it was a simple matter to Apparate to Paris, before using a Floo to arrive at the platform in London.
The first of September found Rey worried about her boyfriend, as she had no real idea of when they would meet, and if he’d make the Hogwarts Express on time. They’d kept in touch as much as possible over the summer, and he visited a couple of times briefly, but that was it, and one of those times, he met up with Adi and Seb, and they discussed his continued presence on the Quidditch team. When they were together, they would cuddle up, and Finn would play guitar while she sang along softly.
There was much to look forward to this year, with this being her and Seph’s second year of running the Badgers, and Rey hoped she learned enough from last year to make a difference in the standings. This was also her first year running Culinary Club, and she wouldn’t have Alice to lean on if she got stuck. Rey had big ideas for the club this year, and she hoped her efforts would make her friends proud of her. Both things were sources of excitement and anxiety for the little redhead. Sadly, this was the last year she and Finn would be at school together, and while they’d both be busy, she hoped they could spend time together.
This year was the Heulwens’ turn to make and host the big breakfast they had before going to school, and Rey helped Mea, which also gave her something to focus on aside from Finn. While Mea made the pancakes, Rey did the rest of the fry-up; after all, could it really be a proper send-off without bacon rashers, boxty, fried eggs and mushrooms, and baked beans? Thankfully, the Abrams, Morwenna, and Tegen were there to help eat it all up.
When it came time, Rey made sure to look nice for Finn. She wore a long-sleeved rollneck sweater, paired with a fuzzy yellow corset vest she got on sale at Cloak and Coven, and a dark gray skirt and a pair of black shoes with chunky heels to give her a bit of height. Finally, she added a navy-blue crushed velvet jacket, while her long red hair was brushed back to give her a slightly dressy and cute appearance. As was usual, Rosie was in her carrier, slung over Rey’s shoulder like a large purse, complaining to the world how miserable she was.
Arriving on the platform, Rey was confronted with her usual problem of being too short to see over anybody, and the crush of people made her feel as though she were awash in a sea of people. At some point, she caught sight of Linsey with her beautiful long white hair, with a certain doofus of a wolfhound at her side, but she was quickly lost in the swirl of black-clad travelers. Knowing time was getting short, Rey started feeling more anxious, and as worry tugged at her soul, she heard a voice call out, “Rey! Rey!.”
Turning around, Rey saw Finn making his way to her from across the platform. He was wearing a long, brown ankle-length coat, dark khaki trousers, and a pair of well-worn boots, with a dress shirt and a tie that was loosely tied, and a thick scarf was wrapped around his neck. On his head was a sun-bleached hat with goggles and a brim, while a piece of cloth covered his hair and the back of his neck. His outfit was scholarly, practical, weather-beaten, and sun-blanched. “Finn! Finn!,” she cried in reply.
Finn rushed over, wrapped an arm around Rey’s waist, before lifting her from her feet, and hugged her. Rey wrapped her arms around his neck and gave him a heartfelt hug in return, as they kissed tenderly. All the anxiety and concern drained from Rey as she leaned her head against him. “I was worried. I didn’t think you’d get here in time.” Kissing Rey on the tip of her nose, Finn replied, “At some points, I wasn’t so sure myself.”

Upon being recognized by his crush, Benji felt a little warmth across his face, but he did his best not to show his awkwardness. Tsia said they were looking for someone to sit with and he was glad that it was going to be him. Benji still couldn't figure out why Tsia wanted to be friends with that bully Rian anyway. He was just a jerk. Coty interrupted his thoughts though when she said she was excited for the school year. He grinned at her and nodded, then said, "The school is really exciting!" Looking between the sisters, he grinned widely. Sure, Coty was really excited for school, but so was he! Not only were they starting their electives, but there was also Quidditch and clubs. "You're gonna have so much fun with clubs too. Are you also going to join the Adventurer's Guild?" he asked the younger girl, since Tsia was already a member of the club with him. He was excited to debut his campaign, assuming that Finn didn't have something he wanted to run with the club.

☾ ⋆*・゚:⋆*・゚ As much as Andie wanted to stay home with Mum, she also was quite curious to see how this school year would play out. both she and her mum had gotten quite close with the Argyris family, based mostly on Andie's half-sibling share with Hesperia. Thankfully, they were happy to invite the duo over to spend time with the family. It was especially important since the Thayers didn't really have any other family to rely on. The morning she was set to return to school, they ate a lovely breakfast together, then collected Andie's trunk and tucked Pyxis into her cage for the journey.
Their next step was to the platform, which was already full of a steady crush of people. "Come along, Andromeda, dear. It wouldn't do to get lost today." Mum gently squeezed her hand as she spoke. "Of course, we've got to find the Argyris family so Hesperia and I can make the train." Andie agreed, hurrying along beside the woman. It didn't take long before they located the very family they'd been searching for. Andie waved over, a bright grin on her face. She hurried over, giving her older sister a quick hug. It had been an early morning for the Penrose's, but that was normal for them during the summer. But instead of waking up early to go choring in the yard, Morwenna and Tegen had gotten up early to make sure their trunks were packed. Mum shrunk their trunks so that they could be transported easier, then Wenn stashed them with Isolde's cage so that they could be brought over to the Heulwen house. Morwenna and Tegen had been invited to a big back to school breakfast with Meallan's family, which worked out since Mum and Da wouldn't have been able to bring them back to school either way. The girls bid their parents and baby brother goodbye, then took the floo over to the Heulwens. Morwenna was excited to see her best friends again as was Tee with hers. Wenn was glad that her sister had a best friend in Wendel and Bryn, since they mirrored hers in Rosa and Meallan. One Abrams, one Heulwen. Perfectly balanced.
After a nice pancake breakfast, everyone started to group off to apparate to the platform. Morwenna and Tegen went together with one of the adults, since Wenn still wasn't old enough to do magic outside of school yet. She got their trunks resized once they arrived so that they could be brought to the train. Isolde was in her cage and she squawked, so Morwenna squat down to feed her a treat. "I'll let you out as soon as I can. I know you hate the cage," she cooed to the bird. Tegen, meanwhile, reached into her cat carrier to pet Mr Beans on the noggin. "No, Beans... you can't ride with us. You'll be fine in the carrier." She glanced at OneN and Bryn, then huffed a sigh when the cat rumbled again. "You're too big to hide in my pocket." Once Morwenna had finished calming Isolde, she walked over to Meallan and rested her head on his shoulder. She probably ought to look for her boyfriend, but she wouldn't be able to sit with him until the feast, since she had to do Prefect duties on the train.

(づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ Rosa was a bit sad that summer had come to an end but the general excitement of a new year still buzzed beneath her skin to sort of cancel out the sourness. As custom, the next home on the list were her aunts to host the back-to-school-brekkie and while she would never be a culinary master like her cousin, she had started becoming a bit more confident in her cooking. As long as it was stuff she'd made before of course. She'd gladly made a portion of scrambled egg and cheesy toast sandwiches to join the hefty buffet of foods as well as aiding Wen, Bryn, Lewis, and Su in their tradition of making train snacks. After the breakfast, she was side apparated with her mum onto the platform and her luggage was loaded up along with the others while Fili was in his backpack storage, peering out and around and buzzing for his treats.
"You'll get some when we're on the train, you know better." the teen lightly scolded the wild haired rabbit who merely did a slight thump in protest to her words. It seemed as though Rosa wasn't the only one who's pets were throwing tiny tantrums, much to her amusement both cousins had their own whispered conversations with their pets and she could see Morwenna's sister doing something similar with her cat. Bryn walked besides her and looked curiously between his friend's pet and his own bun wondering if she was also feeling constrained.
Rosa was about to remark the similarities to Mea when she heard Rey's name being called and due to her new height, she was able to find the source rather quickly. Within moments, she watched as her cousin and her beau had their own straight out the movies romantic reunion right in the middle of the platform. The only thing missing being the music swelling and a convenient burst of light spotlighting them from one of the windows. "If she didn't one hundred percent deserve it, I'd be thoroughly disgusted by how sappy this all is." the taller teen remarked to her two friends with a slight smirk. Rosa could admit she was maybe a little more than a bit jealous but also, it was hard to be jealous of a love story straight out a damn novel. At this point the only thing Finn was missing was the white stallion who's trust he gained through sheer determination.

Mea watched the chaos on the platform, though a solid half was probably just his family. Most of them were focused on their pets, other than Lewis, who seemed to be entertaining a rather long-winded speech about quidditch. Of course, if anyone knew about it, it'd be their resident pro. Wenn was trying to calm her kestral, and Mea couldn't help but giggle, especially since he was sneaking treats to Echo. Apparently pets were causing similar issues, since Rosa was scolding her rabbit, Wen's cat was trying to slip out of his backpack, and Bryn was looking at his bunny with curious eyes.
Suddenly their attention was grabbed by Rey shouting for Finn (and Finn shouting for Rey), before the two of them went over to smooch. Rosa commented that if Rey didn't deserve it, she'd think it far too sappy. "I dunno, I'm glad I'm not the one getting romance-smooches in front of Gossip Central™. But Rey's also really been missing Finn this summer, so I'm happy for 'em." Mea shrugged his shoulders, before jumping when he noticed Wen now right beside him. Dang it, his footsteps weren't loud enough to hear on this setting of his hearing aides. "It's pretty mushy. But also I want someone to shout for me. 'Cept maybe just for a hug or somethin'." the third year nodded, looking quite serious. Mea looked over, watching his cousin's cat working on climbing atop his shoulder. It didn't seem to faze him, but he was probably used to it by now. "Don't worry, you can get all the hugs you want!" Mama wrapped her strong arms around Wen, earning an indignant cry from the teen. Meallan laughed, glad his family was predictably goofy. Morwenna stepped over, resting her head on Mea's shoulder. Green eyes glanced over, the boy donning an easy smile at the gesture. He moved to set a hand on her shoulder, hopefully a comforting move.
Amelia was, unsurprisingly, anxious. Though she was doing much better than in the past, she was fairly confident she'd never be fully relaxed starting a new school year. However, with Molly doing her job in her cute pink harness, and the fact that she was going to see Luke again, made it much more manageable. She'd seen him once over the summer, but that was hardly enough. She knew he wouldn't be too hard to spot, afterall, this year he'd have a gaggle of redheads with him. Not to mention, the last time she'd seen him, he was pushing six feet.
As she scanned, her eyes fell on Luke, who met her gaze almost at the same instant. She smiled and felt herself relax slightly. Without a thought, she and Molly maneuvered toward him, almost entirely forgetting about Clara and her parents, who were only a few steps behind. She heard Clara mutter something that sounded suspiciously like, "Bruh," as she walked away. After a few steps, however, her little sister began to follow her. Luke matched her smile, and once she was close, he reached for her hand, almost as if on instinct. Amelia was completely unaware of her sister staring, dumbfounded. Clara couldn't understand why the two hadn't already admitted they were in love with each other.
"Hey," Luke said, releasing Amelia's hand after a moment.
"Hi," Amelia replied, not taking her eyes off him. It wasn't until she heard a tiny squeal from behind that she let her eyes move from his. Two red-haired, nearly identical girls were standing there with a boy. She knew instantly they were the triplets. "Hello," she said, turning to face them, her face reddening just a touch.
"Your service dog is so cute," one of the girls, probably Bren, based on descriptions, said with a large smile.
"Thank you. This is Molly," she said brightly, before leaning in a little toward the girl and saying in a conspiratorial tone, "Don't worry. I'll let you pet her once we get on the train."Amelia didn't want Molly distracted now, but once they were in a quiet more enclosed space, she was happy to give the dog plenty of loves.

Looking between his triplets and the rest of the family, Alec was glad that most of them would be at school together. It wasn't nearly as much fun to explore alone, and he could usually goad any number of his older siblings to provide entertainment. Bren, Grace, and Luke were discussing the probable variety of creatures at the school. "There probably won't be too much variety in the way of pets, but 'Hogwarts, A History' mentions that there's a ton of creatures in the forest. Or course, it's also called the 'Forbidden Forest', so I'm not actually sure how many we'll be able to see." He had done his research already, but Luke had a different answer.
Of course he'd be talking about his girlfriend. Gross. Not that Alec disliked Amelia, in fact, she was quite nice... but he didn't enjoy the google-eyes that Luke had whenever he'd talk about her. It spelled a worrisome future for the younger boy. He looked back at Bren, who was talking about how raccoons weren't native to the UK. She then said there might be talking ones in the forest, but Grace said that'd be too much like Marvel.
Only a moment later, Amelia wandered over with a dog in hand. Her sister was there too, but Alec didn't know her. While the two older teens were all mushy, Bren flipped the conversation to Amelia's dog. Molly, her name was. That seemed like a good name. The youngest of the group ran a hand through his messy hair, not wanting the conversation to get any more awkward than it already was. "At least we can go out looking for new animals after this train ride. Well, probably, anyway. I don't really know." He shuffled a bit, already wanting to go out exploring, even though they'd be trapped on the train for who knew how long.

It was back to school time again and for Hesperia, this would be her last time since she was a seventh year now. Standing on the platform, she remembered her first time here as a first year, scared that her secret about being a half vampire would cause her to be driven out. Wandering the platform as a scared eleven year old, overwhelmed by the sudden smells of so many strangers. Meeting her first friend and learning that he was also hot entirely human. So many memories from this platform, from this train... And this was her last year making these memories, at least for a long time. She figured she'd eventually be back on this platform making memories when her children went to Hogwarts... For now, though, she was focused on her final year of school. Hesperia had arrived at the platform with her mother and little brother in tow. Her boyfriend and his sister as well, since they'd come over to help with breakfast. Kas had graduated, so he wouldn't be getting on the train with her, so Hesperia needed to take as much advantage of their time together before she left. The last two members of their party made their way over and Hes got a hug from her half-sister, which she returned in kind. "Good morning Andie. Oh, it's been busy. How about yours?" she responded with a grin.

Talya’s head was buzzing when Departure Day arrived, as she was excited to be leaving their lodgings in Surrey and returning to school. Well, there was no ‘we’ now, not with Kas having graduated, and, of course, he wasn’t loaning out Medved to her. Talya was a little nervous about not having her quasi-adoptive big brother there, not that she needed him for protection or anything like that. Still, he was more company than Alynn ever was, and the mighty Medved was also good company, and the best body pillow one could ask for.
The night before, while she slept, she remembered riding through the mountains with her family across the Caucasus, taking their horses and their flocks from their usual summer haunts in the north and traveling to the south where they would spend the long winters. Having proven she could ride as well as her brothers, she was astride her beautiful red blood bey, keeping their flock together as they journeyed. When they stopped for the night, she was seated at her customary place near the fire, watching the stars above her, and laughing along with the rest of her siblings, as their uncle spun a tale.
When morning came, she could still smell the campfire's woody smoke and the roasted meat and vegetables they had dined on. It was a little sad to see only one trunk readied for the journey north, with her clothes, books, and other necessary things for school. Her Quidditch bag and the case for her broomstick were already attached to the trunk, as well as a packing case with additional books, the proceeds of their raid on a certain candy shop not far from the Patrovna Estate, and the gifts she was bringing for her friends and her teachers. Serebro, her beautiful Russian Blue, was ensconced in his carrier, and while he wasn’t given to letting on how annoyed he was, Talya knew he’d rather be stretched out across her shoulders and nuzzling her ear.
They didn’t stay for breakfast with Uncle Sergei and Aunt Reyna, as they promised to spend the morning with Hes and her family. Talya and Kas immediately dove into helping prepare the departure breakfast, although this was eased since both she and Kas made most of their contributions the night previous, and Talya bonded with little Niko, while giving Kas time to be with Hes. Before departure the both presented a couple of gifts: a book containing ‘the Adventures of Nikolai’, a young adventurer whose illustrations bore a strong likeness to little Niko. While Kas wrote the story, Talya provided the watercolour illustrations. The other gift Kas made sure that the Argyris (specifically Hes’ grandparents) all saw, and this was a ring, a promise to remind Hes that Kas would be waiting for her while she attended her last year at Hogwarts and wasn’t going anywhere without her.
For her first day at school, Talya was wearing a pleated charcoal gray skirt with a silver chain worn about her waist as a belt and a pair of polished black dress shoes with three-inch heels to provide a bit of height, as she stubbornly refused to grow over the summer. This was paired with a beautifully embroidered long-sleeved blouse she got from a Georgian clothing seller at a stall during a daytrip to Moscow, which she made work with her Hufflepuff school tie, and she added a brightly patterned woolen vest that was trimmed with fur at the edges, waist, and neckline, while her antique Russian Orthodox cross was worn on a silver chain about her neck. As important as today was, Talya wanted to dress nicely and be seen as having matured since last year. If she didn’t insist, she knew Baba would.
For Talya, being with Hes and her family was so cool, as Hes was so pretty and confident, and just owned the scene, like a big-time Quidditch star, and the little Third Year found she was wishing she could be the same way; not that she was ashamed, she was Stepanovich-Patrovna, after all, thirdborn of her family. As they were standing on the platform, Talya caught sight of her Vice-Captain being swept up into the arms of her boyfriend in a way that had her wishing hard that any boy would rush across a platform to be with her. She also spotted Alynn hugging and kissing Mika among the swirl of returning students and their families. Talya tried hard not to be annoyed with him not being with her and Kas, and she briefly wondered how much they’d associate with each other without Kas there to be the glue that kept them all together.
Before she could start thinking about such matters, she saw her future sister-in-law appear. “Drommy!” squealed Talya excitedly, her brown eyes immediately lighting up, as she hugged the other girl as though she were long-lost. “You’re so beautiful this morning, look at you. Oh, my gosh, we’re going to rule this year, I just know it. You got to tell me everything, Drommy. I’m sure you had a fun summer like I did.”

"This is the way to the freedom I've only dreamed of These are the wings I was never allowed to try Come closer and hear me, there's a world out there to see I say this day belongs to me
This is the door I have waited so long to open This is the day when I'm given my room to breathe One chance in a lifetime, and my name is on the key I say this day belongs to me. I believe it If the stars are in my corner I'll have love and laughter This day belongs to me"
