Imalyose this is gonna sound horribe and snobby but uh there is something "wrong" with your pic I noticed. I grew up in california till I was 14. for a boat to be that large it would have to be closer to the shore. >___< I AM SORRY I AM A HORRIBLE PESRON! I think it is a good thing that you notify artists about what they've done wrong. :3 Because, if no one tells them they might never realize this themselves! If you ever see something wrong with my drawings please do tell me. razz Even though most of the times I know about the mistake but is too lazy to fix it. xD

27Reflection of the trees in a puddle. I couldn't get the camera to focus, so it's really blurry. D: 27

KuraiHanax3 Hmm, like having the picture show up in your post. you can just see it as part of the post, don't need to click a link.. err, I don't really know though.. its fine ^^; oh, ok, what you need to do is on your DA page, right click the picture and select 'Copy Image Location'. Then put that link in between img brackets. Ex:

Theme: Reflection Not sure if I'll be able to work on it later on......... I would like to complete my idea, but sleep and early errands are gonna drag me away ;<
In the mirror, it imitates her. Every movement, every gesture. So why doesn't it look like her? Who is this man... His eyes are hidden behind purple velvet binding. Is he seeking for salvation? Or perhaps something else?

Ethereal Phantasmagoria There's lots of really cool features you can do with it biggrin But You can make do with only the basic features lol dA has some really cool tuts on it the girl messaged me back with hate-mail. she said "eff you" and how that had taken her hours and I had ruined it with one comment. how does someone whose an artist react to bad to one crit, which would take two seconds to fix with the select tool, or, if it was on purpose like she yelled at me during the pm, why should she be offended? she said I was condescending cause I said "I" in the post. whatever. I messaged her back and said "eff you too, grow some balls and stop being so sensitive, and don't send me anymore hate-mail". (she had said eff me, don't think I mentioned that)

how about you try keeping things just in pm's, please, we'd like to try to have less drama in here ^^;;;; Let me put it this way. on the one hand, I can understand why people might want criticism/ comments in order to help improve. On the other hand, after creating a labor of love, which is what can be used to describe most art, sometimes criticism/ comments can be very hurtful. so, as I mentioned in a post earlier on this page, maybe we can just keep the feedback for those that ask for it ^^;

The way it was phrased wasn't. Of course there is no right way to phrase critic, it is just often a lot better received when friendly, and has some positives to it (even if there are none)... its not sugar coating something, it is being sensitive and respectful to the work someone else has done.

Yes, of course. :3 But it's not always so easy to say something bad without being mean. :I That's why I think so many people don't like critique. Like a friend of mine, I always really want to tell her if something's wrong with her drawings so that she can fix it, but if i do then she's just becoming really angry with me... -___-; So I just shut up. And that's why I think it's only smart to give critique to those who ask for it! >w<

Though perhaps the thing I have learnt, is to let them come to it themselves, rather then jumping in and correcting it straight off the grill, when they are proud just to share what they've done. I just shut up at times as well, encouragement works well in the fact that it keeps someone drawing and improving. You could always point out the good parts of your friends drawing, and not focus on the bad so much?

Yeah, I guess you're right. razz I always make sure to include both compliments and critique when I comment on someone's drawing. :3 But not pointing out the mistakes could be bad too, at least if they asked for critique. Like one of my teachers, she gave me a bad grade, but she only wrote down that I had done everything very well... :I And she said it was mean to write bad things... -___-; And I guess it's kinda the same when you comment on someone's drawing. ^^;

Luckily we only received bad from my tutor during uni, that it was a shock when she said anything nice, it was an expectation though, and when something was good we often didn't know it and never knew it. You're right though, mistakes do need to be pointed out, but going straight off the bat never goes down well. There is an ad floating around at the moment that says " But, interrupts. And, continues". I guess I see it as just a way of following a correction after an encouragement, especially with complete strangers or even close friends who you don't share that kind of relationship with. I always see it as needing a lot of trust that it won't be taken as an insult, but care still on both sides.
