Kero smiles, and freezes space around them, dropping them, for the time it takes to tell Luna's story, out of time. Five minutes later, in true time, he returns them, the clocks having seemed to move super slow while he told the tale. It was dark thirty when he started, and dark thirty-five when he finished, though he had to have been talking for an hour or more. But Luna's story is told.
"And that is how Luna, a Black dragon, came out of Lady Lyssan and became my adopted daughter."

Champhy shakes her head and sighs heavily. "All that darkness within her... and yet she still carried within it the spark of good. Ah well... that's the mistress fer ye. She a funny one. Won't speak of her past fer nothing, not truly. But I suspect there was a time when it wasn't all cream and roses, mind you. The hints her brother drops from time to time have been enough to give me nightmares. So the little one is linked to Lunaria then as well... well, it explains some of it... I worship the Lady as do many here in this realm. It would be foolish to do otherwise. This be a night dark realm, governed by her whims, but she's a fickle mistress as well... not at all like her speaker. Lady Alysian is a picture of calm water compared to the tempest Lunaria can drag forth."

Kero looks at Champhy, his eyes carrying the words 'Thank you, Captain Obvious.'
"Champhy, you do remember that time I became a baby, right? The time you threatened to paddle me, and soon after I supposedly killed myself? Why do you think I became so young?"

Champhy shakes her head in confusion. "I'm sorry, Kero... but the Lord put it out in no uncertain terms that we were to forget about that ever happening and treat ye as though it never did. No questions allowed. I thought it was a matter of depression or the like... others suspeted much the same. Technically none of us talked about it.." She rolls her eyes and smiles sadly. "But the mill was churning with all sorts of might have beens and maybes. But ye pulled through it and seemed none fer the worse, so I shelved the mystery. I'm more of a here and now kind of person. As mistress likes to say... the past is cut in stone... look to the future."

Kero nods, smiling.
"I deage because of the way the light of the moon interferes with the magic that keeps me alive."

Champhy chews on this for a bit then nods thoughtfully. "I could see how that might put a bee in yer bonnet. She is strong here around the clock, whether it be moon dark or moon bright. This is a piece of her realm in many ways. I'm surprised you find it an easy realm to visit... How have you managed to screen yourself away from her?"

Kero nods, sighing in relief
"Yes, thankfully. Now I'm back on my normal schedule of rejevenations. I did not like being a cubby, Champhy. Not one bit. I am surprised I believed your bluff about paddling me, though. I am usually much trickier to fool than that."

"I've had years to perfect me little scary head cook role, m'sirrah.... And lots of troublesome younglings to practice on." she laughs with a wink.

"Now a single question enters my mind: Would you have?"

She chuckles softly. "Doubtful... if driven to that point I usually give a gentle swat to the rear and send the youngsters to the Lord or Lady for disciplining. It's not my place in the scheme of things. I'm a cook, Kerobian... not a care giver. You see, iffin you ever stay here long enough, that we are all fairly regimented. We find our niches and stick to them. The brownies clean and repair, the okami hunt and govern, the lesser kin maintain the grounds... what have you... to each his own is out motto."

Kero laughs and laughs, holding his belly.
"I see now. Well, that is all well and good, but it seems to me that you happen to be the Grandma figure here...though a mutual friend of ours might just be poised to take that over, huh?"

"Averus has no young that I know of... so I have no idea what yer talking about..." she teases back with a grin as she begins to divide her dough up for rolls and loaves. "Hand me that bowl of cinnamon and sugar would ye... and a bit of that butter. Maggi... where's me dried fruit?" she calls back across her shoulder.
The small kitchen helper carries over a huge sack of what looks like raisens which gives Kero a good idea as to what the cook is making.

"Best guard that quite well, or ye might find it disappears rather quickly into a certain endless Void for safekeeping..."

"One of these days yer sweet tooth is going to land ye in a heap o' trouble." says Champhy with a grin. She begins to flatten several pieces of dough and spread them with butter and the cinnamon mixture. She looks thoughtful for a bit then nods to herself. "The little flyer? Does she like her fish fresh... as in uncooked? or does she prefer it baked or fried?"

"She likes fish. Period. That's it."
