*Hopian shakes his head*
It's not the density you need to worry about...it's the hollow bones...they're the main trouble...should they be damaged, you must immobolize them.
I specialize in land creatures...usually of a feline nature, although I have experience with canine as well.

Lyssan Kerobian *Kero's eyes fill with tears* It...It's mine....*Puts it to his lips and plays...a tune of life...of hope...but there is a sour chord...of the sadness...of guilt...* Tam crawls into his bed and gives him a hug... "Shh, Kero... it's ok, ye did wrong and ye know it, that is all that matters. Don't let it color yer future as well. Let it go, Taro, please..."

Sharmestra thinks on this then smiles. "Why I do believe you are right. So it is the hollowness of the bones that matters, not their density. I shall have to study this further, when next the opportunity presents itself. So you are familiar with both cats and those of the canine family, that is an odd juxtaposition is it not? I would have thought them both at odds with one another. How do you maintain tranquility?"

*Hopian chuckles*
Thay are both predators, are they not...as long as I know the basic predator mind, I can tame, control, and raise them...sentience is the only tricky part...because then they'll eventually get smart enough to wonder why they have to take orders...

"As would any child when it matures." says the elderly Dawnlord from his seat by the fire. "You would do well to remember that, Shar. A child will by nature question so we must provide the proper answers to relieve their confusion."

Oh yes...and I have had many a child question me about many things...Kero was particularly annoying...every other word was "why?"
It really got annoying whenever I turned him over my knee...he would ask me why he was being punished...not the other way around...made for some awkward moments, I can tell you...

Sharmistra frowns. "You said he was four, did you not? And yet I know that Master Talesian has had him now for well over two years or more. Surely he was not that intelligent a babe! You mush have been reading things into to it, I assure you."
**Watch it, Hope.... comes a voice inside Hopian's head... I told ye she was sharp.**

*Hopian nods*
Not the dullest claw on the paw, eh? Alright...Kero is an empath...a powerful one...as You, Master, no doubt felt in his room when I smacked him...his questions weren't in words, but in feelings directed at me...yes, I gave him to Tam when he was two years old...and he was already talking by then...desert miners, which is the name of his species, mature very quickly for the first twenty years of their life, then settle down...they live to about fifty years old...some even hit sixty...and they reach puberty at twelve to fifteen, much like a human...most are talking at a year of age...and Kero's first word was indeed why...which, as I have already mentioned, led me on a merry chase when he needed discipline.

"An interesting species." says Sharmistra with a merry laugh. "Oh but I would love to study them more closely. Do you have anything written down on them, m"sirra? To help me in my care of the young cub, for surely this was serendipitous event that you arrived at Master Talesian's door just when he had need of you most?"

*Hopian laughs*
Serendipitous...if you don't count the fact that I'm empathic myself...that's how Kero and I communicated...for almost eighteen months...
*Hands her a small book*
The Leonin codex...detailing the three subspecies of Panthera Leo...of which Kero is Panthera Crepundia, named so because the venom in their stingers hardens on thside of the shell to form small balls...let's just say baby miners never need rattles...

"How can I thank you?" exclaims Sharmistra with enthusiasm. "I'll have this copied right away and then return it to Master Talesian. He'll then be able to return it to you when next you pass through town." She clutches the book as though it is the finest of treasures and in her case it probably is. Mica just chuckles low in his throat and getting up reminds the young healer she needs to make the rounds at the temple clinic before retiring. She stands as well, but you can see form her eyes, she'd give anything to stay and talk some more. But duty far outweighs entertainment and she retrieves their cloaks form a nearby peg and accompanies the elderly priest back to the temple.

*Hopian chuckles...the book he had gave her was filled with his notes and crossouts...he ad been intending to get it copied afresh into a proper book...he goes into Kero's room, listening to Kero play...then takes away the pipe and tells him it's bedtime*

Tam is already alseep, curled up against the cub in the tiny bed. He's so not suited for it, it almost looks comical, but Hopian understands. He blows out the candle and tells the cub to close his eyes and leaves.

Note: THAT ought to get a reaction!
