*Kero coils protectively around what he is eating, revelaing his draconian blood, even in his feline form...he's not getting up there unless he wants to...and his garnet eyes reflect that will, even in a frenzied hunger*

The elderly wolf smiles and nods, watching him eat. He, too, knows better than interfere with the meal of an animal who was on the verge of starvation. He leans against the table and waits. The cub is small and if his assessment of him is correct. He will get full. In fact, he'll probably over eat. As that thought comes to him, Amestru sighs, readies himself for a fight and snatches the cub up by the scruff.
"Slowly... slowly, Kerobian. No need to eat yerself sick. There is pleanty where that came from."

*Kero's eyes flare blood red...then fade...to emerald green, strangely mixed with steely grey*
Amestru...thanks, old wolf...I may or may not be able to eat myself sick...but I would rather not find out...do you wish to examine me again? Because you will need to set me down to do so...In fact...even if you don't, I wouldn't mind being set down...that hurts, Amestru...

Amestru smiles and sits him gently down on the table top. "I know, old friend, but I also know that with a cat, that grip helps a trainer to get an upper hand. And although I am not yer trainer and have no desire to be seen as such, I didn't want you to get sick with yer very first real meal in how many umpteen centuries?"
He gathers up the left over meat and sets it near by. "Ye can have some more in a few minutes or so. No need to gorge yerself silly." Then he begins to gently examine the cat, carefully probing and prodding, seeking some physical sigh of this more recent manifestation. He frowns slightly and once again lifts up the telescope. "I'll be damned..." he whispers after a time. "Kerobian... ye need to listen to this." and he puts the ear buds into Kero's ears, to reveal a steady strong beat of a heart.
"No wonder the heart flared. I'd say ye've been given a new lease on life, old cat...."

*Kero listens to the beating of his own heart, amazed at the strength of it*
I...I...I just cannot believe it...but then...why did I conk out for a few minutes there...unless...Amestru...do you have any stones filled with the full moon's light in here?

Amestru nods cautiously. "I have one or two stashed away somewhere, why?" He eyes the cub closely wondering what he is up to.

*Kero thinks for a second...figuring odds in his mind*
Would you mind releasing a small, short burst of moonlight in here...I want to check something...

Amestru gives a sour chuckle. "I was half fearing ye'd ask for something like that. Alright, Kerobian, I will. But I warn ye, I won't be responsible for the results iffin yer harmed."
He goes over to a stone jar at the far end of his lab and lifts the lid, pulling forth a strange black stone. He warms it slightly betweens his hands, then raises it in the air. The room is filled immediately with a soft radiant glow. then it is shut off as Amestru covers the stone with his hands.

*Kero's eyes have glazed over...but he immediately shakes it off...like a dog shaking itself dry...*
Confirmed...moonlight, now that I am alive...deages my intelligence, along with my body...and causes a stronger effect..earlier hypotheses rejected...true deaging now occurs in moonlight...
*Turns thoughtful*
I'll need to procure a guardian...and lay in a store of diapers...this could turn out bad or good...

Amestru grows worried. "Kerobian, you do realize now that if you continue to de-age... eventually you'll become non-existent. Each de=aging will cast ye further back along the time line of life." He sighs and scratches his head. "Ye need a shield of sorts to block the moon's effects."

*Kero pales...then calms down...*
It's alright, Amestru...I have certain tricks I can use to keep my age in check...and if all else fails, my master can shield me from the effects wrought by the moonlight...
On a downside, this means I'll be a baby again every full moon...not good...not good at all...

The old wolf walks over to an overflowing bookshelf and pulls down several books and a few tattered scrolls. "As you might guess, we of the wolf tribe have always had some dealings in lunar magic. Maybe I can find something amongst my notes that would alter yer rejuvenation spell a bit, so that ye get a specific response rather than fishing around for some earlier age. How was the spell cast to begin with? Did ye actually cast it or did Jor?"
He pulls a pair of wire rimmed spectacles from a hidden pocket and begins to thumb through the most battered of the scrolls, scrolls so ancient only magic is keeping them together now.

*Kero plops his rump down on the table, assuming the familiar postition of teacher*
Okay...here's how it works...
A Voidmage, be they alive or made of dust...must eventually recharge their powers and the aethr that forms them...even living, Aethr is a crucial part of my being, and always will be...in order to allow for this recharging, a Voidmage can choose certain applications...they can die every so often, entering the Void as a wraith and being reborn...they can lose all their magic...or they can deage once every three months or so...I obviously chose the last one...I chose to be deaged every three full moons, and sealed my power to moonlight, with a spell of Jormungandr's making...however...once, while helping my apprenitce cast the same spell, she fell into trouble...I shoved her aside, and was destabilized by the rebound that struck me...hence the randomness of age and the increased frequency...Rhea is fine, hers are normal...all the spell did was rebound to me...is that enough info for you?

"So... if ye can re stabilize the original spell, ye should be able to handle things better, right? And I assume ye've tried. What happened then?" he asks thoughtfully snatching up a small battered journal. "Here it is, the journal from the time when Tam first appeared..." then he stops and blushes. "He's told ye about all that, right, I mean he's hinted that he was going to."

*Kero nods to both questions*
All attempts at restabilization have failed...most only aggravate the problem...my guess is, if the spell were to be restabilized...the randomness of age would go away, but the increased frquency would remain...the spell toyed with the core of my power...made it incredibly strong...but very wild...that's why I have to stay in constant control...
And yes, I know where Tam came from...
