*When she leaves, Kero goes to his balcony...staring at the moon...wondering why his transformation wasn't reversed...as the moon here isn't full...instead, he was almost stripped of his memory...he jots this down in his notes...*

Lyssan returns with Amestru in tow. The two of them are extremely worried, their face solemn and drawn. Amestru goes out onto the balcony and kneels by the cub. Kerobian, I want you to come with me to my lab. Is that all right with you? He holds out his arms to the cub, refusing to let him walk.
Lyssan hovers worriedly in the background. "Ame, is there anything I can do?" she asks running a hand through her hair. All anger over the cub's latest prank has dissipated into thin air.

*Kero relaxes, flowing into Amestru's arms as if he was made of liquid shadows. He gives Amestru his permission to perform any tests he feels are important or necessary, hoping to find out something about his deaging process...indeed, he asks Amestru if he wouldn't mind examining him when he grows up, to note any differences that shouldn't be there*

Amestru nods and holds the cub close as he carries him to his lab, giving Lyssan a series of instructions and items to find as they go.
"I want you to deactivate my portals as soonj as we get there, Lyssie. No need aggravating things with energy fluctuation. And could you bring us some things from the kitchen? Kero, here seems depleted. I know he's supposed to be able to survive on magical forces, but right now his body appears to be malnourished. Tell, Champhy that until I say otherwise whe's to send fresh red meat up to my study here on a regular basis. I don't know what you have been up to, boy, but yer a shadow of yer former self right now."
Lyssan nods and sends a hovering servant running to the kitchen, then she follows the two to Amestru's tree. Because Ame's hands are full she talks to the tree and triggers the trip spell inside to allow them entry. Then she follows them into Amestru's lab, running ahead once they are within it's confines to deactivate Amestru's infamous portal.

*Kero twists in Amestru's arms, letting his own emerald eyes meet his sapphire ones...and fixes Amestru with a glare that has leveled armies of shadows before*
Amestru...I am always a shadow of my former self...don't you know my name?
*He seems genuinely curious...he had actually thought Amestru knew his name...his full name*

Amestru rolls his eyes and chuckles. "What I meant cub is that you're hanging on by a thread here, physically. You are not used to eating are ye, anymore? Ye eat to satisfy your palette but not to feed the flesh and something has happened with all these rejuvenations that has triggered yer need to eat to fuel the flesh, so to speak. Not sure if there is anything else wrong, but that is my initial observation.
"Lyssie, we're going to need ye to set up two pallets as well, one for Kerobian, here, and one for me. The lab is shielded, far better than the palace. This way, if it is an outside influence, we'll soon determine what it is. How or why it is affecting him, will be our next step. In the meantime, Kero, I need to know ow many transformations ye have undergone in the recent months. How many were out of sequence and thei severity of their lengths and effect."
He sets the cub on top of a nearby workbench and begins to gather several items to help him in his examination - a clear quartz crystal as large as his fist, a stethoscope, and a few external probes, none of which will hurt or damage the cub in any way.

*Kero sits down, holding the stethoscope to his chest...he winces at the chill...he despises cold, even in his deaged form*
Very well, Amestru...I have undergone three off schedule and one on schedule deaging in the past few months...the on schedule one...this one...is normal, though it has youthened me further, possibly due to residual moonlight in my blood from my previous deaging to a true infant, brought on by your moon...another deaging occured early because of a timeslip...although it only deaged me to my normal cub state....and the first occured soon after I came back from your castle...my master deaged me as punishment for one thing or another...it was an extremely short deaging...lasting only an hour...and it placed me as slightly younger than usual...my usual age being three years old.

Amestru nods and holds the crystal over the cub's head. It begins to glow with a soft gentle radiance and continues to do so as he runs it along the cat's small body, flaring only once as it passes the region of the heart. He sighs and puts it down, then stands there frowning with his hands on his hips.
"Well, that was a whole lot of nothing." he says after a bit of thinking. He sees Kerobian's confusion and laughs ruefully. "On a normal animal this would indicate where the problem is, not what it is but where. Only it says you have no problem. Yer heart is odd, but them we already knew that. Everything else is functioning as it should."
He begins to pace before the table, talking with his hands, as he voices his thoughts out loud. "Is it common for ye to have that many rejuvs in a row. Too much magic can have some serious repercussions."

*Kero thinks, then shakes his head from side to side, his white crescent flapping as he tosses his tufts of hair*
Not normally...my normal rate for rejuvenation is one or two a month...depending on the phases of the moon...adding or subtracting a few...depending on when I do wrong according to my master...he uses rejuventation as a punishement...with the obvious aftermath, if you catch my drift...and while those don't last more than an hour usually...he has been known to leave me like that for a month at times...usually for going after Emnast...anyways...no...four is a huge number of rejuves, even for me*

Amestru nods thoughtfully, his brilliant blue eyes glowing slightly as he considers his next words, not sure if Kerobian is going to like them or not. Then he decides that to hold anything back would be foolish to the extreme.
"Kero, when I used my gem, I did find out one thing. You're not exactly made of dust anymore. Oh, I'm sure ye can still dissolve or whatever it is ye do. But that body is very much alive. That is why ye need to feed it. Something happened during all those rejuvs that did more than just de-age ye, as ye call it. It triggered cellular growth. Because ye should have set that gem sparking all the way up and down the length and breath of yer body... not just at yer heart."
He sighs and shrugs. "Yer alive, Kerobian, seriously. Yer not an animated construct."

*Kero sighs, his breath whooshing out of his body like a summer breeze...indeed, it seems to carry the heat of the desert with it*
I suspected something of that nature...tell me, Amestru...can my new body feel pain...of it's own accord...my resistance to pain is one of my major advantages in battle...if that were gone, I'm not as formidable...and I need every advantage I can get for the final war...

Amestru leans over and gives the cub a big pinch, which sends him screeching to the ceiling. He chuckles sourly and nods. "I'd say that answers yer question. Ye can train yer body to deal with pain though. I've seen fakirs in fairs do amazing things with broken glass and fire. Maybe ye should start thinking about that. And Kero, before ye go thinking about killing this body of yers to reconstruct it... remember this. Such magic is chancy at best. Ye were fortunate the first time to have had some very powerful people on yer side. Who knows what will happen now."
A knock on the door catches their attention and the smell of the freshly killed meat Lyysan carries in sends Kerobian's stomach into knots of aching hunger.

*Suddenly, both Amestru and Lyssan get their first glimpse of Kero's feral nature...how he was before he met and attacked Tesability...Lyssan is knocked aside as the meat flies into the air. His eyes gleaming ruby red, Kero darts after each piece, devouring with a ferocity unseen from him before...finally he stops, chewing on a piece of gristle...he seems quiescent...but his eyes are still pools of blood...*

Amestru shakes his head. "Better send for more Lyssie, this poor lad has been starving himself for over a month now. He's dang lucky to still be with us. I wonder. How many void masters have actually died of starvation while on the job do ye think there has been?"
Lyssan stares at them both and gingerly picks herself up off the floor. "Yea, right... sure, Ame... whatever ye say..." She backs out of the room and runs for the kitchen, leaving Amestru facing the still hungry cub alone.
Amestru frowns and points to the table. "Iffin ye don't mind, Master Kerobian, I'd like to do a once over, now that ye eaten..."
