"huh, ohh sorry about my dad, he can be a little crazy sometimes." Alex said, shoving his dad to the side. Alex's dad stumbled and nearly fell off the roof. "Hey what was that fo..." Alex's dad lost focus in his own words as he looked at mizuki. "well anyway," Alex continued, "my dad and i were out looking for survivors... mainly me and my dad have a bet, whoever kills 20 zombies first wins... the score is 15 me and 14 my dad.... Actually that's why my dad is out here, i actually came here, because i was looking for my friends... well ive found mizuki.... im done..."
Alex's dad inturrupted, "This guy doesn't look so good." He said poking mizuki in the shoulder which seemed to be annoying him. "We should really find him a docter..."
"Dad I really wouldn't poke him if i... aw forget it, he'll find out the hard way..." Alex said mumbling that last part to himself. "So does anyone need a weapon, i have one extra rifle and a pistol, both with quite a bit of ammo... "

Thomas was utterly shocked.

"This girl has some SERIOUS mood swings...emotional wreck...laughing...yelling..."

"Uh...I uh... Was uhm... My iPod- and uh... "

"Think dammit! Think!

Thomas backed into the corner, feeling kind of alienated and out of place once the others came back.

"I uh- I think I should go find a room..or help with the defenses..or something..."

Reshion smiled, saying, "So, you think that it was my fault that Garath left? Did I make him leave? No. I am not dating Crimson, and what I choose to do is my own business. So If I choose to Take on zombies so that you all could be safe, then I will do that. So before you even get started blaming me for your problems, look at yourself!!!! You have flirted with every guy here so far, and to think that I liked you. For what it's worth, I am sorry about the table, and before you hurt Thomas, let him know that you have feelings for Garath. Thomas, for what's it worth, I am sorry. Be careful with this girl. God forbid another guy comes here." Reshion stormed past Nina to get his bag. "I really like you Nina. I truly did. Well, bye." He said, walking to the fire escape.
PostPosted: Mon Jul 23, 2007 12:13 am

"Uhm...uh we weren't flirting... I was-"

"I knew it! I knew if I tried to help people would think I was getting emotionally attached to her... This sucks! I wonder if Garath is mad...oh I hope he's not, I didn't want to hurt anybodies feelings..oh what to do..."

Thomas watched Reshion storm out.

"Is he always this dramatic...or did I-...do something wrong? Garath I'm sorry, I wasn't trying to- I mean uh- Please forgi- I'm sorry.. "

Thomas lowered his head and looked at his feet.

"Did I cause this? Did I break this system up..? I hope some people stay here to help instead of running after Reshion...I wonder if anybody will run after him... Will I run after him? No...I won't, I can't, I'm best used here... I think"

"Yes it is your fault Garath left!" Nina yelled at him. "He's such a nice guy always trying to help people and he tried to help you. You should be grateful he went out to help you and that I invited you in." Nina frowned. She was really crying now, sobs escaping from her throat. "I'm going to blame you for my problem because you are my problem!" She sneered. "You're such a retard you went out to fight zombies when they can't even come up here! This whole place is barricaded. Zombies can't climb or jump!" She said fisting her hands by her side. "Protecting us he says... Pft... More like giving us more problems like making us worry."
"Flirting?!" Nina growled. "When have I ever flirted with you? I only have know you for not even two hours! Or Thomas! He's so younger than me I bet... I don't go for that." She said folding her arms. She felt like she got smacked in the face when Reshion said that. She hated him right now... What he said was uncalled for. She had a reason to be angry. He didn't. Didn't he know you're not suppose to take pissed people seriously? "So is talking to someone of the opposite sex means I'm flirting with them?! Apparently you aren't right in the head... Or always thinking about relationhips or all girls as potential relationships." She said trying hard not to just ball up and cry again. She wanted to take the rapier from her waist and attack him, but she didn't. She had that much self-restraint. Plus I have to be the one in charge... This is my house, my rules, our survival. There is no one around here that know's how to survive this thing more than I do... she stated in her mind confidently.

"How can you even say you use to like me?! You barely know me! You barely have talked to me!" She growled. "We've barely spoken at all." Nina mumbled. "Why are you so dramatic all the time! My God..." She whispered. "Go... I don't care. More supplies for the people who can survive... By thinking things through." She said glaring at him.

By now Thomas fealt completely out of place, he would give anything to be out of this situation, just being in another room would help, but he dare not leave. Nina was in a delicate state and he didn't wan't to make her feal like she was being abandoned

"It's okay Nina, let it go. Don't let him get to you. He's gone now and that's that. The lack of tension will be good for everybody..."

"What the HELL is wrong with me?! How can I say something like that! I've barely been here for an hour, how can I have any say in this? What do I know about what's good for everyone...?"
Thomas tried to change the subject, to ease the tension a bit.

"So how are we going to improve the defenses here..? And uh... uh... Mu-...sic?"

"IDIOT!"

Entering the window, she realized she was in the middle of Reshion getting his a** verbally abused. She blushed when Nina mentioned her but spoke up,

"Nina, I'm not dating anyone."

She sighed, also realizing that she needed to explain some more, owing Nina some kind of pathetic excuse she could up with.

"Look, it's been a while since I've seen any normal people, and since more and more came, I promised myself that I would keep everyone protected by my swords. But, I guess you can't protect everyone. Usually, you would never see me attach myself to someone but this is a new world."

Reshion, left and she let him go, and rather please Nina. Not that she swung the other way, but she could appreciate someone of that beauty. Which also make Crimson slighty insecure. Which also made her realize that she still had no good clothing.

"Damn."

She blushed and sat down, covering herself with her arms. Her cheeks were a bright red, and looking up she asked,

"Uh, Sorry Nina for being an a**, but can I have a shirt?"

Now, Crimson was really sorry, and embrassed as hell.

Oh, well, gotta humble myself some time or another.

Mizuki was not pleased.
Personally, he felt he had little time for this. He cast a slightly apprehensive look at the sky. It was getting darker by the second and he was not sure that their destination would be lit.
Getting darker would also majorly rule out the idea of cutting through the upper floors of buildings. At least with dim light they would be able to see figures moving around in these rooms. Not now. He simply would not allow either of them to walk into a dark contained area where possibly whole families of infected were waiting.
Families
Mizuki shuddered as once more he caught the flash of his fathers face as he feel through the door. Oh god. The expression. Contorted with rage, a grizzly triumph in those yellowed eyes upon managing to open the door.
The sudden spasm of his finger on the trigger and that dreadful knowing that Mizuki had just commited an unforgiveable crime no matter what the circumstance.
It made his bitter. Which probably didn't help Alex and his father's campaign at all.

He noted Kalila blushing and found himself gritting his teeth.
So, she liked this Alex kid did she? Well why not. High school sweethearts maybe.
Kalila did seem to think high of this new comer. High enough to be willing to drag them along on this venture when she had been so reluctant before with Christian or Crimson.
It was all very suspicious. He found her blush like waving a red flag in front of a bull and decided it would be best to immerse himself in something else.
A short distance away he heard the squawks and hisses of the Crazies. He focused on it intently. He could now only make out two different Crazies, one of them having a slightly higher voice than the other. Perhaps female?
Two left out of seven odd. These rats weren't wasting any time. Without really knowing why, Mizuki was hit by a bizarre urge to laugh.
He reached up his hand and coughed into the back of it, clearing his throat of the tickle of supressed laughter whilst simultaneously hiding his smile.
Beyond the weakening out cries of the infected there was the constant chitter of rats, and behind that - if he focused really hard- he could hear the sound of teeth scraping against something that he could only assume was bone. Splintering cracks and the odd wet tearing sound. At first it was disgusting, leaving him as if something had clawed out his stomach.
But the more he listened the more he began to find he was becoming desensitised to it. He'd just seen and heard so much that he was finding it less and less troublesome. In fact, he was even getting bored out listening in where as earlier he would have had a morbid fascination.
He stopped listening and looked briefly about the roof, Kalila was in deep conversation.
His stomach contracted.
Did he just say that his father was a scientist.
Oh ******** FABULOUS! a sarcastic and highly irritable voice kicked up in the back of his head, throwing a complete tantrum.
He was going to have a hard enough time hiding his little 'secret' from their rapidly growing party parade - but a scientist?! Some one that would be able to tell the symptoms the very second Mizuki started.
Hell, he maybe even knew now.

To distract himself and to stop himself looking to guilty, Mizuki looked to Nicholas. Nicholas seemed partially troubled by the new comers and Mizuki latched on to that grinning at the younger boy childishly and rolling his eyes.
It was then that he began to feel someone prodding on his shoulder.
He didn't even think. He just reacted. Instinct that had been ground into him from the days his Father taught him how to defend himself.
Mizuki reached up and grabbed that offending finger tightly and doing vicious little turn, twisting the Alex's father's arm up behind him and pinned it in place behind his back between his shoulder blades with one hand, Mizuki's free hand already curled into a fist to follow through with a sharp punch to the back of the head.
He caught himself here and seemed a little suprised at his own actions, but not exactly sorry for them.
He pushed the guy forwards gently and rubbed the back of his head.
"Sorry, dude." He said, trying to sound convincing and for the most part succeeding. "Reflex."
Something savage howled in despair in the back of his mind at having lost its prey.
Mizuki linked his fingers and stretched looking to Kalila and then Alex and then to Alex's dad - offering the man a slight nervous smile in ways of secondary apology.
"I'm not going to turn down another firearm." He said politely in Alex's direction. "But Nicholas and Kalila are so far not equipped for long range defense. Maybe they'd benefit better."
He sighed and looked around at the whole group.
"I guess we'll be working as a team now then, huh?"

Jessica started down the road, lagging a few steps to the flank of the main group.
She had not yet, for the most part, been accepted into their numbers.
Everything was getting harder to see. Going darker, things seeming to blend in to the things around it making it dificult to navigate herself.
Instead she latched on to the scent of the bodies infront of her.
It was a rich, earthy, musty scent of Territorial Might.
A warning that served to any rival groupings that this particular stretch of hunting ground was theirs and no other creature had the right to stalk it.

She stumbled forwards, keeping close as items faded away into darkness. A soft grunting groan left her as Hunger racked its way through her aching being. She had not eaten enough today.
Having no concept of time or space, Jessica simply knew that prey was becoming harder to get by. A feeling echoed in those in the troop ahead.
It was shown through desperation.

A loud shriek and gargle sounded in an ally only a few yards from where they stood. A figure stumbled out of the darkness. Unable to see any features other than a rough outline, Jessica still knew immediately that this was another infected. They stunk of distress, blood and something else that Jessica immediately linked to rotting meat of a different kind.
The wisened old woman at the head of their troop tossed her head back and screeched into the night sky. An inhuman cackling roar.
Without second thought, Jessica charged at the figure followed in split seconds by those of the group ahead.
They descended on the other infected human in a fluffy of rage.
The infected, already torn and broken, innard hanging loose from gnawed holes in their flesh, stood no chance. It was ripped apart by Jessica and the others in a matter of moments.
Hanging intestines were gripped and torn out viciously and flung aside. Limbs were torn free of the body and jaws were savagely ripped right off the skull. Even the small furry rodent bodies that still clung, gnawing, to the troops victim were demolished.
Dripping with blood and other bodily fluids, the troop stepped off, Jessica curiously sniffing the fur trapped beneath the fingernails that were still on her fingers.
Looking out to where their leader had once stood - they were horrified by what they saw.

James had begun to get irritable and angry.
The Hunger was once more with him and it was becoming harder and harder to shake. Now in near full conduct of his movements.
He had found that dragging the pole across the ground made noises that drew attention and were extremely unpleasant to the ears, as were the horrid vibrations the metal had sent up his arms.
For some reason he had known that these noises and feelings were not to do with the pole itself - but rather the way the pole was dragging on the concrete. Putting aside the urge to simply throw the thing away he lifted it and clucthed it tightly to his chest. Taking a few steps forwards he found that both the noise and shaking stopped.
Learning from this he took to carrying the pole around in his arms, hugging it to his chest and nuzzling his cheek against it in a grotesque parody of a small boy and his favourite teddy bear.

The lights had drawn him for blocks. The solitary difference in a world that was swiftly fading out to black. He had found himself entranced by that little flicker of white in the black and had followed it, at first cautiously, and then excitedly.
He met its end at a small store. The shop owners had holed themselves up inside.
He could smell living, breathing flesh inside and began to get very excited. Chattering mindlessly to himself he made sure not to give off any scents that might attract any other infected. Instead he crossed over to the window.

Margret was woman on the steady decline after her prime. At the age of 47 she felt that she had missed her chance for a child. She had suffered depression from this and had taken up many jobs in childcare to try and fill this void.
Her husband, George - older than her at 55, was an understanding and slightly gulliable man. He had understood his wifes desperate longing and thus had dipped into his retirement funds to help fund their store. They called it the Toy Box. A simple name for a simple store that sold a variety of more old style toys ranging from stuffed animals to china dolls to little wooden puppets on strings. This way, Magret had been able to make children happy as had always been her lifes long ambition.
When the infection had broken out they had holed themselves up in the store that had brought so much meaning to both their lives and hoped that any surviving children would turn here.

Margret had been alone in the front room, her husband out in the stock room catching a well earned nap. She was not so stupid as to stay in sight of the windows. She knew full well what was out there and had kept hidden behind the high shelves of stuffed animals. The light was to attract the children, but the old couple also knew that it would attract those horrible creatures also.
She sat out of sight, arranging the line of teddies in knitted jumpers for the fifth time that day in preparation for visitors when she heard a gentle scraping on the window.
Frozen for a moment by fear, she clutched a bear tightly to her chest.
It came again, a gentle tapping.
She poked her head cautiously around the bottom of the shelves, keeping out of sight.
Her jaw fell and a warmth tightened in her chest.
A young boy. Finally a child had come to them for help.
Staring at him she fought to decide wether or not he was safe. He looked pale and very pinched, but then again what child wouldn't be in shock after being out there for so long. He looked alone.
She crawled out part of the way and the boy spotted her.
It was then in the light that she saw, with mounting horror and concern, the state of the young boys face.
His lower lip was torn near the right corner. An old wound it seemed.
The left side of his face was gashed in a fashion that looked to be claw marks. The skin around the wounds was very ragged and untidy, the top of the upper gash having sliced his lower eyelid near clean off.
His clothing was dirty and torn.
He had wounds to match that of many of the Infected she had seen pass their store and yet something about this one was different. He seemed too human.
And then she saw it.
Her trusting blue eyes met with the bloodshot and wounded eyes of the boy - and he smiled.
He actually smiled. A wide triumphant grin at having found some one else alive. Well, that settled it. He had to be sane. None of the infected she had seen had displayed any emotion other than hatred and anger.
As she began to move out from behind the shelf, the boy - clutching a rusty looking pole in one hand - began battered on the glass with the palm of his free hand.
My god. She thought. This poor child has been through hell!

I had not occured to James to smash the window with the pole. In his experience the pole was good for smashing enemies and so - he concluded - it would be good for smashing prey.
It simply did not occur to him that he could break this see through barrier with his new weapon.
He had spotted the meat-sack in the shop now. It had looked at him and he had looked back and had felt such a surge of glee and excitement. He would feed soon.
He had reached up his hand eager to grab his prey, bhut as he reached for it, something had come into contact with his hand.
Something hard and cold. He didn't know that this thing was glass.
He batted it with his palm a few more times before hitting it harder. His fingers curled into a fist as he hit harder.
The Meat-Sack inside had stood up now, edging closer. It seemed to be teasing him.
James banged on the sheild harder, hastily snatching glances over his shoulder. He didn't want to share his food.
When he turned back the Meat-Sacks face was just behind the glance inches from his. He banged harder and began to whine. Loud, frustrated whimpers of childish tantrums left him, his features crumpling into something that appeared to be the picture of pure and utter misery.

Margret felt her heart could break at that very moment.
The poor child outside could not be infected. It was near tears. It kept checking over its shoulder, terrified.
Throwing caution to the winds, Margret ran to the door and hastily undid the locks and drew back chains and threw the door open, arms wide ready to take the child into her arms.
The door swung open, the child was stood there, gazing up at her.
In that split second she saw his eyes - yellow tinged and wide - pinprick pupils focused on her. The smile on his lips was no longer a smile. Close up it was revealed to be what it truely was.
A crude replica of a grin bathed in feral triumph.
And that was the last thing Margret ever saw.

James did not wait. The moment that door opened and the Meat-Sack's head was in clear range he took the pole in both hands and swung it round with tremendous force. The metal cleabved through the air with a sharp metallic whistle which was cut brutally short by the wet smacking crunch of the pole connecting with its mark.
Margret felt no pain. The first blow shattering her nose and forcing bone fragments back into her brain which killed her instantly.
James dashed in, having the knowledge to close the door behind him.
He set to work immediately, clawing at the Meat-Sack's stomach.

An hour or so later when George stepped out of the stock room to take over guard he was greeted by the face of a young boy. Blood smeared across his lower face, gore between the gaps of that smile, wide yellowed optics focused on his. Unfortunately George also caught a glimpse of what remained of his beloved wife of over thirty years and when he died a split second later - he died a broken man in a vice like grip of despair.

James had left the shop after he had eaten his fill, but had taken mementos with him, incase he got hungry again later. His fingers entwined in the thick, bushy grey hair of the severed head of a friendly old woman who had only wanted to help children in need.
It was not long before James had caught sight of the troop of Infected down the street.
Their leader, a wisened old woman had been mere seconds from smelling him when another, brutally injured, strong smelling mess of an Infected had stumbled out of an ally to their flank.
The troop had dived on him, but the leader had lagged behind having spotted James and the food in his hand.
She started forwards but James saved her the trouble. Darting forwards with frightening speed he'd brought round his pole and slammed it into the Leader's face.
Having practiced, James was getting lethally good with his new weapon and after knocking the wisened woman down with the first blow had needed only another two to reduce her skull to mush.
By the time he had finished the troop had also finished with the invader. They looked from James to the huddled figure on the floor that moments ago had been their leader.
James began to secrete a triumphant, strong, territorial musk and one by one the troop began to shuffle towards him lead by a woman with a missing eye and messy mop of once blonde hair - heads bowed slightly, their movements apprehensive as they waited to be accepted by the new leader of the pack.
James grunted and threw the severed head at them, watching them fight amongst themselves for the prime pick of the brain

SAY IT DAMMIT! You KNOW you have an extra shirt in your backpack! So what if it's a male shirt! It's a feminen tuxedo top, she shouldn't mind too much... Maybe I put my T-shirt in here...that would probably be more comfortable... OH WHAT AM I SAYING?! I DON'T HAVE THE NERVE TO OFFER MY CLOTHS TO A STRANGER WHO HARDLY KNOWS ME! Oh what to do...

I'll just wait for Nina to answer... If she dosn't have any extra cloths (which she probably does) I'll just offer some of mine, but only IF Nina has none...

Thomas sat down, in attempt to absorb all of the drama and conflict that has been pressed into one hour.

I don't know if my body can keep up with this... so much stress.

Christian had settled into a corner to watch the arguments flare everywhere. He decided that it had gone on long enough and should be stopped. "All right people, excellent drama skills, I would like I have stumbled into a Broadway play, except that they're too many people." He moved from the corner, looking towards Nina. "You guys are falling apart, I thought that this was a place of haven, not a place to kill non-infected beings." He began to move towards the stairs. "When everybody is all nice and cozy, come see me, otherwise stay down here." He was going to check on any new information about the Virus spreading.

He ascended the stairs towards the living room, and began to re-rummage his bag, this time looking for something else, easier to find. He pulled out a thin metallic object, his laptop. He began to turn it on, connecting to the web, and browsing the Internet. Till he found something.

Alex's dad was suprised at the quick reflexes of Mizuki. When he was finally let go of, mizuki appoligised. "No worries happens to the best of us. Though your skin is supprisingly cold. We need to find you a docter as soon as possible." Alex's dad said, but during the sentence he had lost his smile.
Uh-oh something is wrong, dad isn't smiling... I heard what mizuki said, and agreed, kalila and nicholas didn't have any longrange weapons. I studied them for a second, and neither of them had a weapon... My smat side wanted me to give one gun to both of them... but i had a sneaking suspicion that nicholas wasn't growing to fond of me.
Alex walked toward Nicholas, holding out the weapons and a small sack filled with ammo, then said, "Here take these, I think your gonna need them."
My dad, who never could focus on any one thing for too long, was still studying mizuki. "Hey Mizuki." He said, "Do you mind if i check your pulse?" Then my dad got his smile back and said, "Or are you hungry, we have some food if you are. That goes for the rest of you as well." My dad said, shouting the last few parts.
