Akihiko barely glanced on the paper before it was taken by the silver-haired man, who commented about Kagerou as he read. "Psych ward for sealing, got it," Akihiko commented, wondering if the ward would be busy - if cushy village life had some dark spots he was unaware of.
He was put into unease by the man's impassivity as he seemed to finish reading the questionnaire. He wasn't commenting any howdy-doos, which seemed to be a bad sign. Akihiko hadn't been able to edit Akaran's answers, so he was almost entirely certain the big lug had screwed it up. "I'm not sure how familiar you are with the ruins of Gimangakure," Akihiko started to explain, "but there was a Jashinist out there on a sadistic poisoning spree - almost killed Akaran here." His tone turned dark at the last remark, hand falling protectively on Akaran's shoulder as he remembered not to touch the nape of his neck.
"Akaran felt sick as his curse seal mark thing activated, but he was still able to take her down and listen to me. He didn't hurt me. He didn't hurt anyone except the woman who was going to bring pestilence. I understand if you think he's a wild card, but he was still Akaran, even under the influence of that seal. As such, he's still a stupid, heart-of-gold guy who thinks-"that I deserve him"that everyone can be a hero." He hated being earnest, but he needed them to get that seal off, at any cost.

▱▰▱Akaran became nervous again when the gate guard went over his papers and began examining him. He rubbed his hand anxiously until Akihiko spoke up for him and placed his hand on his shoulder. He supposed that Akihiko was right that by putting a stop to her that he prevented anyone else in the area from getting hurt. He was stuck on the meaning of the word pestilence but let it go for now. He was sure that Aki could help expand his vocabulary later at a better time. When he heard Aki call him stupid he punched him in the shoulder although not too hard. "Don't say I'm stupid, jerk!" Aka was half serious and half playful. He recognized that he was far from a card-carrying member of the intelligentsia. However, his mood quickly changed when his character was complimented by his fiance in the latter part of his statement. Aka's fiery eyes became soft and doughy while focused on Aki's face. He gave Aka an affectionate hug before releasing him and trying to contribute what he could to the conversation. "I came here to get this fixed because I don't have anywhere else to go. The first thing we're gonna do is go get the seal worked on, that's it. No risk. I don't wanna hurt nobody. By letting me in to get this mark fixed Arashi will be doing good for the world by stopping the mark from getting more dangerous. That's gotta count for something, right?" Akaran spoke earnestly and with candor despite the general lack of articulation. He just hoped that he was getting his point across to the man assessing him.

Nothing is ever just black and white.
Aki's standing up for his hubby was both endearing and admirable. With a dismissive sigh and a shrug the weak willed Arashikage when it came to affairs of friendship and romance would yield. After all Aka did mark taking in friendship above strength after all. It was these types of people who even when they lost themselves often had those others to lean on in times of crisis. If anything Tosokurui could take solace and comfort that the big lugs partner was at least one that cared deeply about them. Aki's words did well to quell the anxiety brought upon by, as he stated so clearly, 'wild card' of a husband to be. "I suppose if you were spies of a sort you're playing your part as a happy couple far too well for me to discern. bloop. While professionally I would have had to decline your entry, I believe I have the authority to find your entry permissible on the grounds you continue supporting one another as friend and fiancé." Toso would hand Aki both his own and Aka's papers , after, the Arashikage would turn around and look to the sky. "Arashi welcomes you." The ascent would eventually break through the clouds creating one of those awe like moments where one simply takes in their surroundings given a form of peace and wonder.
The platform would begin to move again as it continued its ascent. Before inevitably docking at the Aether Leyline station. "There's a directory and map over here." He would point then walk towards, then present, like the average tour guide a chakra projection of a map with a indicating dot of the well known 'you are here'. It was at this very moment an incredibly loud bellow? Yell? Shout? Caused the very air to shake and the clouds to shiver. Birds would pierce the cloud sea as it echoed through what felt like the whole world. Not long after...the shrieks of Tengu caws and screes flooded the air and station. They, like the birds started to take flight heading towards a singular direction as if they were migrating. A mixture of screams and shouts, growls, whinnies, roars, hisses. Also began to pollute the villages airspace. Holding one of his ears the 'tourguide' would touch the rim of his glasses and inquire to a masked individual what in the great old ones names was happening.
The less than grouded station would then rapidly begin to flood...flood not with normal individuals but with Yokai. Several with crazed looks in their eyes and others fearful. Many of them just repeating some variation of "THE CALL. MUST ANSWER THE CALL" among other expressive and expletive words of the compulsory fashion all carrying with them the same desire to leave. The posted guards and attendants all becoming overwhelmed from the sudden sheer number of individuals. "I see...bloop. This was that of which I was warned." He'd look at Akaran...concerned. He didn't seem to be responding as the other Yokai did but with that curse mark it was something he'd rather not chance. If this was something of an attack aimed at the minds of his people. Even if the people in question were solely yokai it was his duty to ease them.
"Akihiko...remain close to your partner if you do not wish to lose him to the crowd." Toso would then vanish. He hadn't performed any kind of handsign to do so, it was simply, he was there, and now he wasn't. Then, there he would appear. Floating? Flying? Suspended. Above the crowds. He would slap both his hands together, close his eyes, take a deep breath, and open them. His glasses would adopt a glare as essentially if Aka and Aki were to look below them veins of chakra like an intricate web would glow through the ground they stood on. Like veins sprawled, there was no place they did not reach, where there was land, one would see them. Toso would then speak as if trying to concentrate his words and make words into actions "Taaaaaaaaaaakō-" The veins of chakra deep in the earth began to pulsate rapidly almost as if it were living thing having been injected with caffeine "KAN!"
Almost as if someone had fired a canon a btoooooom sound resonated throughout the village. An opaque spherical emittance centered on the Arashikage and expanded outward whilst simultaneously the chakra veins within the village of Arashi did the same. The village would become awash with what could only be classified as clarity and a sense of serenity and peace. Like that, the yokai voices calmed and quelled. Peace returned. Yet the desire in some did not falter. While they were far more composed they still desired to leave. As Toso would vanish again and reappear nearest Aka and Aki once more he'd look to the station with concern. What would compel his citizens to leave with nary a second thought. Toso would grit his teeth. This was unnatural. "Hagane."
Crossing his arms what appeared to be an emittance of chakra would erupt forth from the 'tour guide' with the manifestation of chakra tentacles. Not long did it take before some form of...mirror being appeared before him. Hagane Tōshi the advisor to the Arashikage in regards to yokai affairs and a personal summon of whom he had contracted with. "Hagane explain. bloop." Toso would adjust his glasses. "Well. Arashikage-dono. Since I am far from combative type I find myself less swayed than the others. Yet to put it in the utmost simplest terms. The simplest term that of which I will be using suffice to say. It is something of a peculiar feeling. A feeling that which is one not unknown to you and your kind. A call. A particular call of sorts used by those of considerable presence. A presence that many a yokai either fear or respect. That respect and fear returning to the point of the call of which I mentioned. That call being. A call to arms. For what I do not know. I do however know, that is one that is most persuasive to those of my kind. A call that resonates with ones deepest heritage. A call to arms for those who call themselves YOKAI."
Toso was left confounded. Were his citizens willingly going to 'war' when the sole purpose of Arashi was to provide a sanctuary free of war and suffering. What was he to do. He didn't even know the enemy. That is until an anbu intelligence operative arrived on cue. "Arashikage. Sir. We've just heard news from the Pale Citadel and the Capital City. Zaishin Samurai are approaching the border of the land of lightening with the intent to breach with unlawful entry. Armed and in numbers. While we are allied with the Land of Lightening we stand independent in the decision to offer out support. Awaiting your decision so that it may be relayed. However..." The Anbu paused. "However what?" Toso fiercely had a hand on his chin now. Almost demanding the anbu spit it out without so much as having to say a word himself. "However, reports indicate the tengu citizens that fled the city are adding to their numbers." Toso would bring his thumb to his lips and bite it mildly irritated but his facial expression did not show it. "TCH. I want a census of the number of awol yokai citizens, I want information in regards to what is causing this dissension, we'll move the village, send the message to the capital they'll recieve aid in specialists and volunteers but do not provide them the reassurance of troops and battalion Arashigakure is on standby until our services are actually needed...that said give the order to peacefully detain all yokai citizens with this impulse and close the ports." The anbu nodded and departed. Toso was left at an impasse. His own citizens were being turned against him. The citizens he had promised sanctuary on the opposing side of a militant force fit to attest one of their closest political allies. He'd touch the rim of his glasses bringing up a display with an Oinin on the other end. "Where is Amano?" Toso would be given the news she had left for the capital. Where in the Arashikage would ruffle his shirt with further irritation. He'd then look to Aki and Aka. Several Anbu and operatives would find themselves on the scene starting to wrangle crowds of yokai almost like animals so that they could be 'contained'. "Sincerest apologies that this is what you first witness when coming to our village."

Kagami's threat of a genjutsu that could have blanketed the whole village is what inspired this method of protection. Euphoria charges the chakra within the Aether Leyline until is sends out a wave that washes the entire village in an S+ level Kai while also inducing good vibes. The projection noticed the ANBU restraining the rampaging yokai and became concerned. He also nodded at the two unknown individuals of Akaran and Akihiko as well as the ANBU agent and yokai advisor. "I'll keep this brief as the citadel has already sent word to you. We're prepared for siege here. We have plenty of soldiers from our imperial lightning legion, Hyuga guards, and our emergency supplies are ample. As our ally do you intend to send shinobi or further aid? If so then I can arrange to receive them." Kenshin spoke sternly as usual with his sharp eyes fixed to Toso. "It may be wise to consolidate Citadel, Kumoito, and Arashigakure forces here. I've advised the empress of this. There's plenty of airspace above the Citadel if you wish to dock the village here as well." The lord of Nohara spoke quickly and concisely so as to not consume too much of Toso's time. The electricity from the blade also forms bolts of lightning over the body of the user and appears to supercharge them. Hatake, Raiu, and Sage enhanced lightning can pass through the blade and apply to these lightning bolts. The bolts cause a thunderously deafening sonic boom and can inflict tier 2 burns upon direct contact with the lightning. Additionally, these lightning bolts can be freely applied to all complex bukijutsu for no action cost to smite enemies. Draconic Sabre of Moon Sundering [ Getsu Sandaringu no Dorakonikku Seibā ] | Rank X | Bukijutsu [ Lightning ] | Complex This is the original ability of the ancient Getsuruito blade and thus requires the original katana form. 5 chakra can be spent to transform the blade to its original form upon activation of this technique. Crackling and thunderous dark blue lightning can be applied to the katana's edge at any rank and the same lightning can form a dragon head formed from electricity over the body of the user for 10 posts. This allows all spiritual techniques the sword comes into contact with to be slashed through and even cut in half at the same rank despite the complex nature of the technique. For half of the original cost to activate the technique a same-rank spiritual electrical energy slash can be sent out from the slash of the blade. This same cost can be applied to any complex bukijutsu to achieve the same effect. The original 10 post activation of this ability consumes an action but all subsidiary abilities do not.

▱▰▱Aka's heart was warmed by the gate guard's permission of entry and general supportiveness. He was so excited that he pecked Aki's cheek in response. This probably only added to the endearing nature of their relationship although Aka did not intend to portray an image. It was a genuine reaction of affection given that he knew that Aki saved his a**. Aka was quietly pleased that Aki's devilish charms and silver tongue acquired from his past were being used for honest ends in this instance. "Thank you!" Aka expressed his gratitude emphatically after grabbing Aki's hand. He let his fiance handle the returned paperwork as he dragged Aki off the platform and into the leyline station. They were approached by a woman wearing a revealing outfit and loads of makeup with her hand outstretched. "Would ya spare some ryo for a beautiful woman?" Aka stopped for a moment and stared at her with sincere confusion. He then beamed a smile and responded equally earnestly. "Sure! Do you know one?" Akaran began looking around for a friend of hers who might need some money to get by. She became shocked and outraged immediately before yelling at him. "I'm talkin' 'bout me, a*****e!" She assumed that Akaran was insulting her when in all fairness Aka did not find any women to be beautiful. He also had no understanding of this context. He got nervous at his mistake before hearing a loud screech and commotion erupting in the station.
Akaran felt nauseated the moment he heard this cry from the familiar in his homeland. It was a terrible wail of pain and fury that stirred the primal urges of his curdling oni blood. It seemed to burn the ears causing him to cover and plug them after letting go of Akihiko's hand. Akaran prayed to some sort of higher power without a name, anyone who would answer, to strike the sound into silence. The shriek went on and on as he watched his yokai kin become upended by it. It was a wail from hell was what Akaran wanted to yell although no one would hear him. When it finally ceased, he felt rage building within him. It felt like the curse mark all over again except now Akaran was fighting it successfully. The oni managed to tame himself and watched in horror at what was happening. He intuitively understood that they were being controlled by something terrible. His heart then sank into his gut when he remembered that his mom was out there somewhere and was likely to be impacted by "the call" or whatever it was. Akaran would remain close with Akihiko as they followed Toso through the station. He was quickly becoming overwhelmed and stressed by it all. When Toso was being briefed by the yokai advisor Akaran briefly interjected. "Actually, this is a gate guard, not the kage." Aka corrected Hagane out of sincere concern that she may be talking to the wrong person. The fact that this was the Arashikage completely eluded Akaran. Although he seemed quite powerful for a gate guard he just assumed that he was a gate guard captain at face value. Still, Hagane's description of the call rang true to him based on what he had just experienced. When the ANBU agent arrived and also referred to Toso as the Arashikage he became even more befuddled but refused to question in at such a dire time. He became shocked by what he was hearing. "They're doing what?!" Akaran had never heard of the Zaishin samurai invading any part of the shinobi world in their entire history as a mountainous hermit kingdom. He supposed that the shogun finally lost his mind but the chaos of the yokai happening at the exact same time seemed like more than a coincidence to even one as dull as Akaran. He turned to Toso as the source of authority in this situation as he watched the ANBU wrestle with the yokai insurgents. "Is there anything we can to help?! I can help the ANBU wrestle them!" Akaran felt like he had to do something to help after the village had already shown him such hospitality. When Kenshin appeared as an astral projection before them, Akaran immediately felt the need to straighten up his posture. What's up this guy's a**? He thought of the overly strict lightning lord as he waited for Toso to tell him and Aki what to do.

Akihiko's heart sank at the notion that they'd be denied, but the man assured them he had the authority to allow them through. He nodded solemnly at the advice of the gatekeeper, letting a hand drift down Akaran's arm to remind himself to stay close. He'd barely finished rolling his eyes at Akaran's antics when a strange cry pierced the air and he turned to the samurai instinctively.
He watched helplessly as Akaran seemed to be under its influence - except Akaran very suddenly wasn't. He didn't look very happy, but at least the oni wasn't going ballistic. Turning to the sudden astral projection, his mind went into overdrive. "...Arashikage...?" Akihiko murmured in confused awe. There was no way. But, the man had said he had the authority to... oh s**t. The Arashikage approved of their relationship?
"Akaran, you're in no position to help. We need to get this seal matter solved before you can fight anyone's battles. Let's go see the specialist and worry about the yokai once you're in tiptop shape, huh?" Akihiko tried to make the suggestion sound light-hearted, patting the samurai on the back and smiling to mask his concern. He would be happy to fight to protect the lightning country after the Arashikage's gracious acceptance of them despite the fact they didn't meet the standards for visitors. "Let's get going, huh?" He turned between the Arashikage and the astral projection, nodding curtly and shepherding the samurai out. Once the seal was dealt with, they could offer their services.

SHIONxxxxxMORI Finally, after what seemed like months of travel and tracking, her hunt was over. "So... any questions?" She wasn't exactly sure just what she was asking for, but anything to help ease Takao's concerns would be welcomed. He may have been a prisoner, but she didn't want him to feel like one. With any luck, his internment would be temporary and life would go back to normal.
Takao smiled at her question despite himself. He had a thousand questions. About her, about the village, about what they'd heard about him and the crew. He didn't know what to ask first. He was being eaten up by his own indecision - should he try to be the Takao she knew, or should he just make peace with the hard decisions he'd already made in his months gone from the village? Instead, he settled on a question that fell on more neutral grounds. "Do you think... it would be a good idea to tell Lord Arashikage about... Chomei?" His voice was hush, not wanting anyone to overhear. He had guarded the secret in the short time he'd known about it himself.
He was angry as hell about Chomei for tricking him. He was angry for hurting for everyone else because of it - though his own impulsiveness had led him to make the initial bad decision - and it left him feeling pained. "I want to be completely forthcoming, but... I don't even know what to do about Chomei. He lied to me, Shion. I didn't realize... they would do that. And I am just so scared that the Arashikage won't believe me. The bijuu makes me a target, and I don't want him to think I'm only going to be more trouble," he confessed. In these short months, it seemed his habit of hiding emotional truths with humor was becoming less of a habit and more of a slip-up as he realized just how important honesty was to him.

A matter of time. As the oni duo made their exit so to did the Arashikage begin his preparations. He'd produce a clone and with that clone left behind he'd head to where he was evidently needed most. It would be to the newly arriving duo's luck that the individual of whom that would approach them with clipboard in hand was a clone. Before Shion or rather perhaps in mid Shion explanation did the Clone take notice of their …their rather 'casual' prescience. Approaching both of them glasses adjusted he'd look at Takao then at Shion.
"Well..." He'd move his hand from one hand to the rest of the vacant space that was around her. "Where are the rest of them? bloop?" An eyebrow raised. Should he have been surprised? Shion may have had a habit of doing things half-assedly thanks to the Nibi's influence but even then when it came to following through with missions especially ones with fights involved it was typically assumed she went above and beyond. So needless to say seeing Shion coming back after such a long while away essentially as if having just come back from a date without hardly any broken bones or notable bruises was...mildly irritating unexpected.

SHIONxxxxxMORI His anxieties were well founded, and honestly a completely natural reaction to what had happened; how would you react if someone told you they acted the way they did because the demon living in their stomach said to? Granted, Takao could have always just said no, so he wasn't completely free of fault. Then again, neither was she. It was Shion who told him to try opening up and trusting the demon; his desertion, intentional or not, was just as much her fault as it was the boy's. "You shouldn't worry about that. Lord Arashikage, im sure, is well aware of your status as a host. After all, what type of leader just loses track of one of his strongest weapons?" Shion offered Takao as passing, side-eyed glance through the mask. "Besides, I'm not the only one who can understand your current predicament. You are aware of Lord Arashikage's status as a demon host as well. We all go through ups and downs when forming a bond with our demons. I'm sure he will look at you in a lenient light... all things considered."
As Toso's clone approached, Shion's candor became much more regimented. Offering the Kage a salute, Shion began her report. "Lord Arashikage, I bear the unfortunate news that this is all that was able to be recovered of the original party. It appears things are worse than we feared. This is a full-blown secession. In the end, the enemy forces were more than I or my team could handle alone. I suggest we regroup and address the issue at a later date, once more information has been obtained. Given the parameters of this mission, I bear and accept full responsibility for this failure." She'd let her professional visage slip ever-so-slightly around her charge, but they were back on home turf now; it was time to put the act back on.
Takao's brow furrowed as Shion explained that Lord Arashikage already knew he was a host. How? He'd been so careful - hell, he hadn't even known until he met Shion. "Uh, how long has Lord Arashikage been a jinchuuriki?" What demon could the kage have? Why didn't he know? Shouldn't Chomei have said something?
Takao nearly jumped out of his skin at the arrival of Toso, squeaking just slightly at the sight. He let Shion take the brunt of the explanation, then pitched in himself. "Lord Arashikage - I know have so much to explain, but you need to understand that Shion is right. They're completely serious about the secession - which I had initially thought was solely a joy ride - and Satoshi... My lord, Satoshi is so strong now. He's aligned himself with the crows, becoming a sage. His sharingan is advanced, and he's got a prowess that I have never seen before. I think, genuinely, even if Chomei - the lying ******** - was unleashed, that he wouldn't cause Satoshi to break even a sweat. It - everything went to hell so quickly. I don't even know what to tell you. I tried to make the best of it but, but he's unstoppable."
Takao swallowed the lump in his throat, thinking about how he had helped Satoshi obtain two totems, how he'd witnessed Satoshi evade enemies but... the slaughter he committed in that swamp village, the damage he caused to the Land of Iron... he knew, at that point, that there was no salvaging the joy ride gone wrong. "Lord Arashikage, I think he's serious about killing Jashin." For what it was worth, Takao's expression and tone were remorseful. He hated to break this news to the kage, who he knew had to be furious about his son's departure.

The Arashikage's clone sighed. As concise as Shion's report was it was for lack of a better term one, lacking in details and two, 'forces being more than she could handle' was somewhat lacking in evidence. That evidence being genuine signs of fierce battle. Not to mention the obvious which was the news wasn't good news. He'd tap the clipboard then shake his head dismissively. "I expect a full report when the chance presents itself. I'd expected more lucrative results what with the time it took you to return." He adjusted his glasses. Then walked up to Shion and hugged her. While Takao spoke. He then let go as soon as Takao ceased his ramblings. "At least I can take solace that your alive." Then his head turned to look at Takao sternly like a mad dad.
Letting go of Shion he'd walk up to him. Put his hand on his shoulder and grip it tightly. Tight enough that may even possibly bruise slightly. "Regardless of the situation, or the seriousness of Satoshi, or influences of a bijuu, treason is treason Mr.Takao. An incredibly punishable offense." He'd look to Shion again. "I'm sure you realize that as well Shion." back to Takao. "You will be escorted to the core compound. Detained. Questioned. Your mind read and your body and chakra network thoroughly examined. From there, your offenses will be measured and your sentence decided. If all that's found could be deemed forgivable perhaps a plea bargain could be established." Anbu and Oinin surrounded the group. He'd let go of Takao take a few steps back.
"Shion. Arashigakure is chaos. You could not have chosen a better slash worse time to return. Yokai are having behavioral fluctuations and the Land of Lightning is being besieged by samurai. Arashigakure is on a course for the land of sand and wind to be as far from the battlefield as possible. I feel this is only but one of many things that are about to occur. SHIONxxxxxMORI Shion flushed as Toso hugged her. He knew she hated physical contact, let alone when she is supposed to be acting the professional... still, the gesture was not unwelcome. It was good to be back home and amongst friends, even if home was in turmoil. "Go easy on him, Toso. He didn't know what he was getting into... he barely got out alive," she'd say, broadcasting to Toso across the bijuu network. "Do it for me?"
As the core agents surrounded the group, Shion could only whince. They were her men, and she could easily call them off... had Toso not been the one to give the order. Shion would turn to Takao, "Go with them. They'll treat you right till we can get this mess sorted out. I wont be long..." With that, she'd offer a nod to the agents, dismissing them to take the boy away. Now all that left was this invasion. "What are the samurai doing here? I thought they were secluded to the land of iron?" As chief of ANBU operations, defense of the city landed squarely at her feet; she may have been home, but she still had a long way to go before she could rest. "Just tell me where you need me. I'll see to it my men are ready to defend the city."

Takao flinched under Toso's stern grip and his sterner talking-to. It was hard to bear, but he persevered because he knew it wouldn't be easy.
