Gersif understood that talking about things could ease the pain of it, sharing the burden and all, but well... he wasn't sure how well she really managed her emotions and he wasn't exactly sure he was ready to find out. "Don't exactly sound like very good friends... not that I really have any with which to compare... just .." he shook his head "sorry, I shouldn't judge." aaaand there when his mouth, why was it his brain shut off whenever he was around her? He decided to cover with a change of focus "what was your brother like?"

Odessa shook her head "no, forget it, I shouldn't of mentioned anything" she said as she finished up her meal "I think I need dessert" she said smiling at him, not wanting to burden him, if she talked she talked later "I think I might start with that beautiful looking chocolate gateau" she said as she dragged her paw a little across the outside of it and licked it "ooo yum!" she said making sure her paw was all clean.

Yep good job, just screw it up. He bet her boyfriend would know all about her brother by the end of their date, he pushed the thought away, he didn't need to make himself feel worse. "What's gateau?" he watched as she tasted the outside, he really wasn't a food expert in any area than taking simple foods and making something tasty with them, meats he knew and berries, things you could find wandering, certainly not baked goods

It wasn't that she didn't want to talk about her brother she just thought that there was a place and time for everything and talking about her dead twin brother now wasn't the time or the place, not when she wished to get back home before it got any later "Gâteau is the French word for cake. ((Nice! lol I have the same issue, I'll use a word in a sentence and use it correctly but if asked to say what it means I can't seem to do it))
"Aah" well no wonder he didn't know what it was "it sounds like quite the delicacy" sounded way too sweet for his stomach with all the fruit he had already eaten but he would try some another time if ever he got the chance... if he was allowed to stay. He wondered though how did she stay fit with all this sugar? He was going to get fat with all this food. "Does your human often provide such feasts?" It truly was nice to not have to worry about where his food would come from each meal, but he was afraid it was a double edged sword causing him to become too disconnected from the source to appreciate it.

((I am the same with that too! I like looking smart and all but yeeeeah, fail at actually telling the meaning if asked. XD; ))
"It is, rich but delicious" she said as she gestured to Vincent to cut her a piece of it "nope, just on special occasions or if she was bored and decided to cook way too much food" she said as she looked at the other cakes and slices that were there, picking out a few of them and then gestured to the bottled water as he placed the plate in front of her.
((Odessa is a secret sex slave in her spare time, she keeps the weight off by screwing at least 10 guys a night every second night but now that she has Oliver it is down to 5 guys every second night, the card readings are just a cover, sure she can read cards but she threw that in when sex slave was a better food earner, that guy she was with when Gersif and her first met, he was a regular just that that day he decided to get his cards read also. XD))

Gersif smiled but couldn't watch her eat it. He had no doubt it was delicious but he was waaaaaay too full and watching anyone eat churned his stomach, heck looking at the food just made him ill. He looked at the stars instead, listing the constellations he saw off in his head "It's a beautiful night for star gazing, have you ever learned the stories of the stars or maybe astrology? Not the commercial astrology with one size fits all horoscopes but true star divination?" He had learned the stories from his father... well some versions, others he learned else where. He use to recite them to himself before he fell asleep, his own bedtimes when he was on the road. As for astrology he had wondered about it, messages from the gods, but had never learned. With all her books he thought she might.

Odessa looked up and nodded "yes, it is" she agreed as she took a bite of her cake, savoured the taste before swallowing "and I have, well some of them anyway, when theres several different stories I tend to ignore half of them, interesting they may be but I would rather learn them all when I want to learn them or whatever, I know what I must and anything else I will learn at a later date" she said as she took another bite of her cake.

Gersif nodded, yes each culture has it's own stories which meant there were many more stories than one soul could possibly remember, but he enjoyed them all the same, his sole traveling companions. He assumed by her answer that she didn't know their divination, course that didn't tell him if she had any books on the subject. His grandfather had dabbled in the science but had never had the chance to teach Gersif. "I've never had a chance to learn the ways of their divination but I've always held a wonder for them and an interest to learn." He watched them a while longer remembering old nights before turning back to Odessa wanting to be sure he was ready when she was. She seemed fine so far in the lights of the party but he didn't want to force her to stay longer than she felt comfortable.

"I have learnt two ways but other then that I have stopped, my concentration is not what it used to be when I first started on this path, I wish it was but it isn't, there are many forms of divination that I have wanted to learn but even then I have just not bothered going back to learn them, maybe I should pick up where I left off" she said, wanting to go back to the water and fire divination she wanted to master but haven't had the determination and concentration to carry on learning.

"You're more accomplished than I in divination, but if you desire to study further ways I would love to learn with you. Perhaps company will make it easier?" He gazed up at the stars again remembering the few nights he spent at his grandfathers feet while he divined the stars

"Your grandfather was a wise Kitsu" she said as she finished off her cake and laid back with the other, she could always have some more dessert soon, star gazing did seem to be a nice thing to do about now "and thank you for the compliment but I am not, I want to be but I have started and not finished so many of the Divination ways that I am stuck on just Tarot reading and sometimes accurately predicting horoscopes but as for the latter, any two bit magazine horoscope writer can do that with just a few little hints from that thing humans call the internet and then write up a decent paragraph of what 'will happen'. I remember when I was a baby my mother was going through a 'phase' if you will, where she would go to any and all tarot readers, good or bad, she wanted to suss out what ones were good and which ones were bad and take note of where to go if she ever needed someone to do her cards for her and I remember the third to last one she went to, before she decided to call it quits since she was getting more scam artists wanting to just make a quick bit of food then actually go catch the fish themselves, her name was Rose and she was a Seraph, I was too busy being in awe of the fact we were in the presence of a rare yet beautiful Kitsu to worry about what my mother wanted or what Rose would of said but as she went on and on and me trying my hardest not to stare at her she stopped, the session was finished and my mother thanked her and we were almost out of her cave when she stopped us and looked down at me and smiled, telling me I will one day have a special gift and that I should always practise it and nourish it and I would be able to master many of the paths it may take me down, I thought nothing of it, I just ignored her thinking that whilst beautiful she was a tad nuts.
So we thanked her for her time, left and my mother said that she was another crack pot who was just after a bit of labour though whilst Rose was a scam artist she actually DID have the gift, whilst she may not have known it she actually did have it and what she did say was true...sort of, I DO have the talent to master the many paths my Divination talent may take me down but I just am not one for nourishing and practising what I start or else I would have gotten further then what I have by now and not just start something then stop once it got to hard for me or whatever. I wish I could go back to where I left off but I can't, I just don't have the talent to learn anymore, it isn't just my determination that is fleeting it is the fact i just don't have the talent to learn anymore, I never have had it, I was just kidding myself to think that I did" Odessa turned onto her side, facing away from Gersif, if truth be told there was a reason, above all others, that she didn't want to practise any others but that would just be kept to herself, at least for the time being anyway, not even her parents knew about it and it was the soul reason she decided to just stick to Taro.
Odessa remembered back to the time just before she left to go find the cure for her brother, the few days before she left she had gotten far in teaching herself Ceromancy and once she got a lion which meant an unpleasant situation and then, just the day before she left she did it once again and that time she got a pair of scissors which meant separation, ignoring the two outcomes, Odessa left and carried on as if those two readings never happened, she didn't want anything else to happen to her, tarot cards were bad enough, so she just gave up and shut down completely on the rest of her so-called 'talent', she had enough "thank you, Gersif for the offer but I wish to just leave it, Rose may have been right, once upon a time, maybe I did have the talent but I don't anymore, my talent doesn't go past knowing Tarot just like you don't know any other Divination method. I have never had the talent for anything more then Tarot and never will" she said as she closed her eyes, biting back tears, hating that she was now basically lying to herself, she LOVED the fact she could have the ability to master a lot of different Divination methods but she didn't want to be disappointed again, she didn't want to have that heartache she got when she had to say goodbye to her brother come back so no, her talent starts and stops with Tarot and that is it.

"He was" he nodded, "He also would say 'you can lie to yourself and to others but the truth is still the truth'." he smiled with fond memories "He could be annoyingly right, but If you had the talent it is still within you, a talent is inbred and can not be lost, it is a part of you. As for me" he looked down at her unable to see her face with her back to him "I lost the chance to learn anything else when my grandfather died and I had to survive anyway I could, now I hope to have the chance again." He hoped both to learn new divinations and perhaps to spark that drive to learn in her again. He could tell something was up, she was bothered by something, but he couldn't tell what and wasn't sure he should ask.

"Not in my case, I more or less lost it, not everyone can keep their talent, I may, somewhere, still have that talent inside of me but you need inspiration, determination and will power to carry on with that talent and all of the above I don't have so no, sorry, but as far as I am concerned, I lost it" she said as she got up and looked at the chocolate dipped strawberries and picked one up and ate it before getting up and stretching "and" she said looking at him "unless you can give me back my brother I will never do anything remotely by the way of any other Divination methods again" she said as she walked over to the beach and sat on the sand, looking out to the water.

He clenched his jaw to keep his mouth shut. She agreed and yet denied her talent, yes she had it some where, no she lost it. He could understand the need for something which would allow her to tap into her talent but she had given up and denied it entirely. It was her attitude about it that hit him most, but speaking on it was only going to cause her to turn on him more. He sat watching her his tails thumping the ground trying not to show him annoyance with it. She had her reason, but she still had family couldn't she look at what she had rather than what she lost. If he had that attitude he would have died the first night he was on his own giving up and allowing himself to waste away right then and there... why did she have to focus on everything wrong and did she have to ruin nice moments every time? "Don't suppose you would be willing to teach them to me then? Or even Oliver?" He took one last shot keeping emotion out of her voice. Perhaps teaching would give her the spark. She couldn't blame divination for her brothers loss, it was like blaming the air for a broken leg, the air didn't cause it, it was just there to witness it. He wondered why Taro was ok when all others weren't however, it seemed odd.
