Che's eyes wandered just above Amara's shoulder when in his peripheral, he spotted the figure of a rather lonely woman. Gauging from her reaction, it was either a spy...or a different spy. The elder Italian stood tall and tightened his tie. His belly, which was swashing with wine and assorted meats and cheeses, didn't agree with his new posture. Sustaining still, he walked passed Cecilia who seemed to be awestruck waving at the four on his way down the road. Of course, the familiar sensation of having Kate's aura around was fading, he knew that she wouldn't be too far away. Possibly even around the corner...."I don't think you want to go that way Kate....that's not the direction I'm in."

~~~
Roulin's body tingled when Cecilia's emotions had shifted. It went from one spectrum to the other meaning that something was terribly amiss with her. Worried, he quickly left Moli's arm leaving his brother to fall onto his stomach behind him. Placing an arm atop his girlfriend's shoulder, the life owl asked with concern, "Cecilia? What's wrong? Are you having another vision?"
Nikolai smiled at Anya and said, "I guess that means I guessed right huh? And what kind of a nice guy would I be if I only bought some for myself?" Nik chuckled lightly and went back to eating his ice cream, careful not to spill any on his new suit, chocolate ice cream was a pain to get out of a white suit. Nik continued to sit in silence for a bit, not humming or saying anything, just eating his ice cream. When he was finished, he tossed his cup into the garbage and sighed, heading back and sitting down next to Anya. Nik was still quiet, but spoke up after a minute or so, "Anya, I have a serious question for you..." Nik turned towards her and moved his headphones down around his neck and paused his music. He sighed once and then asked, "Do you really even want me around at all? I mean, I've been following you around for what, over a year and a half now? I know I can be annoying a lot of the time, but that's just the way I am. I dunno, I just get the feeling that you don't really want me around. I could be wrong though. But if I'm not, I'll just get out of your hair and go solo." Nik sighed again and leaned back slightly, looking up at the sky through his sunglasses for a moment before looking back down at the ground again.
As she walked through the streets and other tourists, Kate made sure not to run into anyone. It was a skill she had gotten very good at back in Russia before meeting Lucien and Che and the others. It gave her this sort of ghostlike quality in the way she moved through crowds. She was within a short walking distance of Saint Peter's Square when she noticed that Che's spiritual signature was following after her. However, she did not stop to confront him. At least not yet. That could wait. Besides, if he was going to be following her, she might as well deliver the message to him that she would be leaving for Russia soon, and in person as she had intended to do later. But it seemed that that conversation would be coming sooner than she anticipated. When she was within view of Saint Peter's Square, Kate finally stopped walking and immediately turned to face behind her and towards Che. "Do you think it amusing to be following me, Presidiomini? You should know better than to play that sort of game of cat and mouse with me." Kate said in her usual flat tone "If that is so, have you been toying with me all this time?" she asked, her head tilting to the side slightly as her eyes made sure to back up her question by narrowing slightly as she studied Che.
===
Erin was making her way through the streets, trying her best to enjoy the scenery of Rome even though there was still that nagging, aching pain coming from every muscle in her body. It wasn't as incapacitating as it had been the last couple of weeks, but it still hurt. But Erin wasn't going to let that stop her now that she was out and about. She wanted to get out of that hotel room for at least a few hours if not the entire afternoon...
((Anyone who has nothing else to do can feel free to run into Erin, because I'm running out of stuff to post for her with no one around her.
EDIT: Also, I found a picture of what Erin's eyes look like now.))
===
Anya continued eating her ice cream, and she had to admit, it really was very good. She was just about finished when Nik got up to throw away his trash. And then, in the middle of her next spoonful, Nik spoke up again which broke the silence between them. When he said he had something serious to ask her, Anya looked over at him. She knew he wasn't joking this time because he was actually looking right at her and his music was paused for once. Anya was about to ask what he wanted to know, when Nikolai answered that next question for her. She blinked once before looking back down at her nearly empty cup of ice cream. There were only two bites of it left, but that was the least of her problems now. Even though it came out of nowhere, it was actually a very reasonable question on Nik's part. Did she want Nikolai around her at all? Of course she did. It was quiet and rather lonely being by herself. Anya knew what that felt like for most of her life until she was dragged into this whole war thing. But it was a lifestyle Anya had forced herself to live by because she didn't want anyone she got close to emotionally to get hurt by her abilities as an Owl. It was especially true when she was a teenager because that was right after she first lost control over her powers. Anya didn't really want to, but it was probably best to explain all of that to Nikolai now.
Finally, Anya replied, her voice at a low volume because she didn't really want anyone else to overhear their conversation. "It's not that I don't want you around, Nik... because I do want you around... It's just tough because of my Owl abilities... I don't want anyone else to get hurt because of me anymore..." Anya finished. Even though she had finished her response, Anya still did not look up at Nik from her unfinished ice cream. Mostly because she was too embarrassed and ashamed to really look at him right now.
Cecilia felt a warmth atop her shoulder as Roulin put his arm around her. She looked up at him, her entire body trembling and shook her head. "No, it's not a vision. I-I just saw my parents." She looked away from him and towards the direction of her parents who stood not too far away and pointed. "They're over there," she said. Yet as she pointed, the very attractive couple turned and were beginning to walk away. Cecilia knew she had to do something. This might be her very last chance. "I have to go talk to them. I have to find out why they did what they did twenty-one years ago. I have to find out what happened." The nervous Owl closed her eyes and sighed before opening them again. Moving forward, she jogged in their direction. It was easy to catch up with them for they were moving along at a leisurely pace. When she was finally within touching distance to them, she extended both of her arms and tapped them each on the shoulder. The man and the woman stopped and turned looking disdainfully down at the young Owl.
Seeing her parents up close, Cecilia's heart began to pound rapidly with many emotions. The most prominent of these was fear. Fear that they would turn her away. Fear that they would not even know who she was. She also noticed that they were tall as well, taller than her. The woman was about as tall as Roulin. Her head came up to the shoulders of the man. Before Cecilia could open her mouth, the woman spoke in Romanian to her husband.
"Am crezut că mi-ai spus că acest loc a fost lipsit de aceste nebuni*
Se pare că m-am înşelat. the man spoke.
Despite the fact that they did not speak English, Cecilia understood every word that they said for it was her native language. The Cosmic Owl managed to regain some of the composure that she had lost and spoke in a voice that was steady. Ştiu ce vrei să spui. Mi-ar cred că v-ar şti fiica ta." The man and the woman exchanged glances before the woman spoke again in a cold tone of voice.
"What makes you think that you are our daughter. My husband and I have been childless ever since we've been together," she said speaking in English this time, yet her accent was just as thick as Cecilia's. But unlike Cecilia's, her tone was very haughty.
Cecilia was still clutching the photograph. She would not let them leave before she had gotten some answers. She lifted the photograph up into their view. "Would I have this if I wasn't your daughter? I don't really think so. There are too many resemblances between the three of us for you two to deny it." The man and the woman exchanged glances and exasperated sighs before turning back to the young woman who claimed to be their daughter.
The man spoke this time. "What is it you want? Did someone tell you where we were going to be? Was it your grandparents?" It was clear that he was growing very impatient and could be quite intimidating when he wanted to be.
When Cecilia spoke again, her voice was filled with determination. "I haven't seen my bunică and bunic in fifteen years. No one told me where you would be. The reason I am here is of no concern to you, but you are my parents so you at least owe me ten minutes of your time and an explanation as to why you gave me away. After that, I promise I will leave you alone." The couple before her looked at each other and then back at Cecilia.
"Will these two be joining you?" the woman asked impatiently tapping her heel. She wanted this girl out of her life forever. There was no denying that this was her daughter. The resemblance between them was too great to ignore. But she had given her away in hopes of never seeing her again and here she was standing before them.
Cecilia turned and looked at Roulin. "Please, would you and Moli come with me." Even though she didn't say it, she didn't know if she would be able to confront her parents alone. She wanted her boyfriend and his brother to at least come along with her.
Amara looked Roulin as he sent her the telepathic message. Of course it's not Lucien's, since you've known me, I've b een a whore, really Roulin I wish you would acknowledge this with me she projected. For some reason Amara felt she had to be cheeky these days. Of course it's his....he just doesn't know that I'm pregnant...I just can't bring myself to tell him she told him. When Cecilia froze in her spot, Amara became concerned but stayed where she was at. When Cecilia said she wanted Roulin and Moli to go with her, Amara took a seat on a bench as she relaxed. Taking out a book she began to read, she just hoped everyone wouldn't leave the "fat girl" to her book for too long.
Lucien smiled kindly at her. He shook his head a little. "I see, that's sort of suprising. I always took you for a big city girl who needs a high paced life." He looked over his shoulder at the citizens of the town, their simple lives oh the irony he knew he felt by being envious of them. He watched her get a little closer to him. He however didn't take much mind to it, he was still unfamiliar with many simple social hints like that, still the niave genius he had been a few months ago. As far as his work was going what could he say? There wasn't much to say he wasn't exactly working he was just enjoying himself here, living peacefully before he started back to the real world. "It's going fine, I've worked out a trade agreement with the major cities around the area, with their support this town won't have to worry about running out of supplies should this country be thrown into this war as well." He sighed a little as he ran his fingers through his black hair. "The children are quick learners, they're all to innocent for this world. It's almost a tragedy in and of itself." Thoughts about them fighting as soldiers in some pointless rebellion similar to what occured in South America terrified him, these were just children, none of the adults were owls it was purely coincidence that a few of the children were OWLS. Looking back towards Jeannie he said. "You know you're not under my specific contract anymore, you're free to do whatever you want. Our deal was a verbal agreement, in a place that no longer exists." He was referring to the former floating island Exire. "You have no obligation to stay, so why do you? Is it the chase? The excitement? Or perhaps you love fighting?" He asked, his tone was innocent, he wasn't trying to pry or mock her it seemed that finally the monotone dictator owl had finally started to develope social skills.
Gripping onto the handle of the chair she sat in tightly a familiar pair of eyes stared at the events unfold between Cecilia and her parents. The eyes belonged to ever shifting Radiant. What were they doing there? The same thing they always did, mysteriously appear to keep an eye on things, but do very little in physical actions. She could feel her hand trembling a little, these two parents were as insufferable as they came. She remembered the child that she would never get back, the way that her former life was forever locked away behind an iron gate. How could this mother abandon her child? Parent's were suppose to love and charish their children, her's was gone and now she took all actions such as these very personal. She stood up, her clothing of course had been swapped from her usual skin tight black battle clothing for a business casual attire, of course the finer details were still more sensual then a typical person's clothing, she still liked looking good, down to the black stiletto styled heels she wore, minus the usual guns which accompanied her shoes of course. As she stood up a hand gently grabbed her shoulder. She looked back staring at Phantom who stood as stoicly as ever. His mask still covering his face. He shook his head no, but Radiant wasn't in the typical mood for her usual flirtacious antics. She walked forward, flipping her black hair gently she stared at Cecilia's parents, she was two seconds from shouting at them when she realized that Phantom was right, this wasn't right, this wasn't something she could just walk into and hope to understand. She took a step back, luckily for her she hadn't gotten close to the scene yet. She backed up a few more stepps, sighing lightly as her hair fell gently over her shoulders.
Jeannie listened to Lucien speak. He did have a point, she was no longer obligated to him, in fact she never was...she had taken interest in him long before who he knew who she was. "Yes I know this Lucien, like I said I'm your friend and I want to stay. Honestly, before now, I haven't done too much to help OWL kind...just looking out for myself" she told him. "I think...I think honestly it's just the fact that I'm apart of something bigger than myself" she told him. "I actually just finished making dinner, it's just on the slow burner right now, if you're hungry we can eat" she told Lucien with a smile.
Chris Shadowheart
Demios let out a painful grunt and sigh as he managed to lean against a sturdy cabinet for support. Since the last few events, particularly the destruction of the last UNS base the night owls had stayed at, he was in pretty bad shape and was taking its time to recover. This made it hard for the young owl to do much, however the physical injuries hadn't stopped Demios from training his magical abilities for his task of creating the next artifacts. He knew that what his body truly needed was a break so it could heal and mend, but he didn't think they had the time for that especially with the threat of the heralds around. He was smart enough though to try and get plenty of rest and do as little physical activity as possible. He was glad to have Bun Bun around to keep him company, but now he was more than ready to get outside and see the world, seeing as he had spent most of his time since their arrival in his room. As much as he wanted to be outside though his body was proving difficult. He was sure that after the events in the base he had broken several bones, many of which had healed, but a few still needed some time.
It took him a while and some effort, but he eventually made it outside. Just the feeling of the world around him made him feel a little better. He paused for a moment before looking around, he wondered what he could do now that he was finally outside. His body still had a few bandages but most were hidden under his clothes. After a while he decided to just aimlessly walk around and enjoy the fresh air.
((Chris, feel free to ghost Bun Bun as I probably won't be able to get much internet if any for the next couple of days.))
Unknown, or perhaps known, to Demios, Bun Bun had followed along hopping about like a furry little bunny that it was. As opposed to a black blob following Serena, there was a cute white puff following Demios. It was a cheery bunny that seemed to merrily hop and hum along.
((TFP---Raven))
Raven barely reacted to the man’s words as he introduced himself as Sebastian Vanilli. She was slightly surprised when he said her name and went on to state that he did not work for the UNS and that he was not psychic. The last part she knew, she did not know or recognise this man. Raven kept her eyes on her food as she finished chewing and swallowing a piece of chicken. She followed it up with a sip of wine. Finally, after a few moments of silence she diverted her gaze up to meet his. “Well now, aren’t you the well informed one.” She muttered with a slight hint of boredom in her tone. “And here I was thinking it would be a quiet meal without people drooling on in my ear.”
Raven reached for her wine glass and swirled its contents around.“So, Sebastian what is it you really want? Surely you did not to intend on only eating and stating meaningless facts.” The French woman leaned back in her seat and crossed one leg over the other. She adjusted her dress and smiled. “You might as well entertain me with your words for I have lost any interest in my meal.” This was probably due to the stranger’s interruption and the fact that he may have unsettled her ever so slightly with the words he had spoken. One thing was for sure, Raven wanted to know who he was and why he was indulging in her presence…After all, there was always something more to everyone’s’ actions. “I will spare a few moments of my time, so speak and make it quick.”
((UNS---Will; Scyther approved ©))
The Satan Owl smirked at Daryle’s words “Indeed, you will work harder.” He said as he poured himself another generous glass of whiskey. Another life was just another toy to Will; the more toys he had at his disposal the more people he could potentially play with. He chuckled when Daryle spoke of his possessive nature and choice of words. “Ah, but she is already mine, she is just slow to know it.” There wasn't a need to bring up the case of Noel, who never ever got over him. Anya would not be that way. Her personality was different and required a different approach, nor did he want Anya to end up like Noel.
An almost too innocent smile graced Will’s face as he brought the glass to his lips and took a mouthful. He placed the glass back down. “I do not need to become a stalker to watch people, Breezy.” He said dryly. The Satan Owl was not really being a stalker. If he wanted to, then Anya would find herself in a major bind. “But yes, I do believe they are father and daughter.” Will polished of the remainder of his drink and smiled as the Breezy Owl began to take his leave. “Oh something exciting will be happening soon. Don’t worry your little head over the issue of boredom.” Something better happen soon, because if the Satan Owl became bored….well…it would not be a pretty sight nor a good experience for anyone. “Goodbye, Saxton.”
Will poured himself another glass of whiskey and adjusted himself in his chair. “Hmm…” He smiled darkly as he watched Daryle’s figure grow smaller as the Breezy Owl walked away. He pointed one finger in Daryle’s direction and zapped the man in the back. Why he done it could be because of the Breezy brain's choice of words or quite simply because Will felt like it. “Yes boredom is rather dull…” He chuckled and stood up to make his way inside the house he glanced down at his watch and smirked. “Ah, is that the time already? I bet Cheani is still being a lazy bum, stuffing his face and chasing women around town. Failing in the process at finding ordinary women."
Sebastian listened to what Raven had to say as he merely chuckled. His food arrived alongside a glass of wine. Taking a sip and beginning to eat, Sebastian wanted to pick his words carefully. "Oh dear girl, I'm not drooling, but I have noticed your work." he told her bluntly. "You must not brush up on OWL history, then you'd know me for my work. Thirty years ago, me and my wife and a few of our friends...well let's say...Earth wasn't prepared for an OWL uprising like we had made. You see...we also believed that humans are our evolutionary underlings. They're nothing but infidels who destroy what they don't understand and prosecute anything or anybody that's remotely different. Of course you know all of these things, so I"ll cut to the chase. I want to help you....as well as my wife Evelynn. She's an omnipath and I can manipulate the probability field. You seem like a smart girl, so I know you wouldn't just up and trust me like that, but think with logic, if the probability of all your actions were highly in your favor....then you'd be able to accomplish what you've set out to do" he said as he began to eat again letting his words resonate on her ears.
After drinking down to a half glass, he looked back at her. "I proposed this idea to you because I can see a little of myself in you. Me and my wife have waited 30 years, honing our abilities and waiting for the perfect time to strike. I believe you have the heralds working with you as well...hmmm...well before I say anything else, I'll let you make up your mind here dear Raven" he said with a warm smile and began to eat once more.
Viktor Z. Temnota - The Bio-Hazard Owl - T.N.O
Viktor walked around in boredom as he got several strange looks from people. A hooded guy in goofy white attire kinda screamed suspicious. "Hmm, maybe I should purchase something a bit less.....conspicuous while I'm hear, if only I had cash on hand" he wined as he mumbled to himself. eventually he found something to focus his attention on, another team member to bother. Although the face was hardly familiar to him he knew the woman (Erin) was a Night Owl, like him. If Vik had anything going for him it was his near photographic memory. She might not know him now, but this was his chance to get to know some of the other members. Pulling down the hood of his jacket he approached her with caution. "Uh..." Viktor paused realizing he had nothing to say to this person. He hardly knew anyone and he couldn't very well announce that they were fellow Night Owls in the middle a busy street. A few awkward seconds passed by until Viktor collected his thoughts, "Right. You are.....Erin...am I correct?" Vik asked, just barely managing to get the name right hoping he didn't sound like a complete idiot. He already looked the part. Maybe if I approach this without using the wrong words... he thought briefly. "Uh, as a member of our..."Team" I thought it best to get to know some of my compatriots, and the others seem to be out and about on their own business. Mixing things up in their own little groups. Since you're alone, as I am, would you find it suitable to look at the various sites and get a feel of the city with me....if you can't tell I'm new and know noone" he explain, sounding very rambling off on several points. Being a scrawny loser like Vik made it difficult for him to communicate with new people, for fear they'll think he's a bit....weird, as they should regardless.
Moli's eyes quickly drifted to Roulin when Cecilia began speaking to her parents. If anything, the elder brother knew that this wasn't his place and in leaving, Roulin would look like more than just a good boyfriend. Smirking, he placed a hand atop the slicked back thicket of hair atop his brother's head, then vanished in a bright flash. The only thing he left his brother was that he was going to see Aeon and that this was his time. Moli's intentions were now with Aeon whom he hoped was as enthusiastic as he was.
"Yeah....I'll come along with you...." Roulin agreed. There were swirling emotions now coming from Cecilia, and her apparent relatives. Following close behind her, he took her hand letting her know that he was there through and through.
"Playing cat and mouse is fun when you're playing against someone who can phase through stuff." Che replied to his stoic partner. The man circled her once, then paused to follow directly behind the gatekeeping owl. To be annoying...or to be nice in his own way, Che wrapped his arms around the somewhat hapless woman and rested his chin on her right shoulder, making sure his cat like grin was just inside of her peripheral. His body, for her comfort, was almost as light as a stack of paper now, but not even Che knew this. Smirking still, the Italian continued, "I toy with everyone Kate my dear. I will admit, I do toy with you a different way....take it as a compliment if anything. Now, where are you heading off to by yourself? I'd guess, but I'd rather you tell me."
Erin was stopped outside of a small shop, debating whether or not to purchase a pair of sunglasses. She knew she couldn't wander around outside and risk running into any of the other Night Owls with the way her eyes looked now. Too many questions would start flying around, and she didn't want anyone worrying too much about her. However, as she was holding a pair of the glasses in her hand while thinking, someone's voice spoke her name from behind her. Blinking in mild surprise, Erin turned around to face the person speaking. It was a boy of about seventeen, wearing an entirely white outfit, the jacket of which had a hood. She studied the boy for a minute, trying to recall if she knew him or not. Given that she had secluded herself in her hotel room for the majority of the past three weeks, Erin hadn't been given the opportunity to be introduced to Viktror, their newest member. A question came over her face. "Do I... know you? I don't think we've been introduced before..." she replied.
===
As Che circled around her, Kate's eyes followed him until he left her peripheral vision. When would he realize that she was never actually playing any sort of game with him? Probably never. At least not until she told him what she planned to tell him. Kate simply stood there as Che wrapped his arms around her and leaned his chin onto her right shoulder. She could most definitely see his wide grin out of the corner of her vision, just as Che most likely had intended. She could also guess at what Che meant by how he toyed with her. There were several meanings to that word when it came from Che's mouth.
Letting out a light sigh and closing her eyes, Kate replied, "I was headed for the Sistine Chapel. I also plan to look around Saint Peter's Square for a short time as well before leaving Rome behind." Kate finished simply as she resolved to actually tell Che that she planned to head back to Russia on her own.
Cecilia felt Roulin's hand wrap itself around hers. She looked up at him and smiled softly before turning back to her parents. When she spoke, her eyes gleamed with determination and her tone was surprisingly steady and confident despite the fact that she was filled with nervous emotions. "Where should we go to talk?" she asked the elder couple. They appeared to think for a few moments before the woman spoke.
"Where are you staying?" she asked her apparent daughter. Even though she spoke to her, she refused to look Cecilia in the eye. She only listened as the blue girl gave the name of the hotel. Good, at least it was not far away. She would not have to be in her presence for too much longer. She turned to her husband and spoke to him in Romanian clearly telling him to call the car over.
The attractive older man reached into the pocket of his suit jacket and pulled out a sleek black expensive looking cell phone. Pressing a button, he put the phone up to his ear. It seemed to have picked up after only one ring for he immediately spoke into it. "Bring the car around," he said in an authoritative tone of voice before slipping the phone back into his pocket. Like his wife, he had left Cecilia with her grandparents in hopes that he would never have to see her again and yet here she was twenty one years later standing before them.
Cecilia waited patiently. While she waited, her mind reeled with the questions she wanted to ask them. The most prominent of these was why they had given her away all those years ago. It was then, a sleek black stretch limousine pulled up before them. A man in a pressed black chauffeurs uniform and a matching cap. His hair was a salt and pepper tone. Yet he was a very good looking man like George Clooney or Sean Connery. Without a word, he opened the door as was customary and allowed Cecilia to climb in. There were two stretched seats in the back. Cecilia and Roulin sat in one of the seats and her parents sat in the other. Her mother drew a cigarette from a fancy case and lit it, rolling down the window slightly so as not to fill the entire back with cigarette smoke. The cigarette was in along thin holder. After a few moments of silence, Cecilia spoke. "I want to know why you gave me away twenty one years ago," she said her hands trembling as she clutched the hem of her dress.
Cecilia's mother flicked her cigarette against the edge of the partly opened window. "I thought that might be your first question. I thought it would be obvious to you. But I guess you're too stupid to figure it out. I'm ashamed to call you my daughter. The truth is, you were never supposed to be born in the first place." Her eyes narrowed and she smirked enjoying the expression of shock on the young woman's face. "That's right. When I found out that I was pregnant with you, I had planned to get an abortion right away. Yet because of the interference from your grandparents, I was forced to carry you for those grueling nine months and when you were finally born with your...abnormal appearance, I knew that I could never love a monster like you. So you see, my dear daughter, you were an accident, a mistake that shouldn't exist right now. It was because of your grandparents that you are alive today for if I had had a say in this, you most definitely would not be sitting here before us today."
As Cecilia listened to everything her mother said, her eyes widened more and more and her trembling hands clutched the hem of her dress even more tightly. An accident? A mistake? Was that all she was? She should have never been born? Her parents had not wanted her even before she had been born. She shouldn't even exist right now? The memories of the children in the park when she was a young girl taunting her tormented her once again. "You're nothing but a freak, you shouldn't even exist!" The trembling traveled up from her hands and up her arms until her entire body was trembling, tears welled up beneath her eyelids and the more she tried forcing them back, the more they struggled to push through.
Nikolai watched Anya carefully as she answered his question, at first her answer made him smile a little, but her next sentence made him frown again. When she finished, she still wasn't looking at him. He paused in thought for a moment then carefully reached over and put his arm around her before saying, "Anya, I know that the Old Berlin incident is a lot to have to shoulder... but honestly, it was a long time ago... and back then you didn't have any control over your abilities. Now you're older, stronger, and have control. And yet you still keep people at arms length." Nik reached down with his free hand and brought Anya's head up to his face by her chin. He smiled lightly and said, "But I think I've shown that I'm willing to risk being close to you." Nik smiled again and leaned in, pressing his lips up against Anya's in a gentle kiss, his arm around her tightening his grip only slightly to hold onto her. To any outsider this would look like quite a heartwarming scene, there were only two thoughts in Nik's mind at that moment, one of them being him wondering how hard Anya was going to hit him once this was over, the other thought, well, you've got two guesses.
