The bard lifts his chin slightly, gives him a wink, then immediately goes back to sleep. At least he looks asleep, sounds asleep, and dang if it isn't hard to tell if he is awake or not.

After a bit Ai does the same. SLowly drifting off into a dreamless state, his thoughts and worries carefully cocooned within, shielded away from Kerkobian behind a series of thick sturdy walls Bez had helped him erect.
