January 12, Today. Masuda, director of Game Freaks and maker of Pokemon, says there will be something different in the games so play. So far the only thing different is different weather in Snowpoint City - the Diamond Dust weather. Nothing else has been found or noticed.

100% serious, Jafty. Though I'm not sure what else is different. It seems that that Snowpoint City's weather is the only change, and I don't think it does anything else.
Mystery Gift via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection does nothing so it's not a Wi-Fi item distribution. At least... not yet...

It's been dubbed Diamond Dust weather by some other gaming forums. Basically it's really sparkly snow that's different from normal snow.

Me too. I know it's the director's birthday and whatnot, and the snow is very pretty, but it doesn't really do anything (from what I've noticed).
Maybe it's a daytime thing? O.o

I wonder if the director is laughing right now. Some people are actually speculating somehow the Darkrai event becoming enabled, or some of the other secret Pokemon.
He did say we'll see something different; not that we'd get anything... But I don't think that that's the only thing he'll do.
