The fabric, since it's a seersucker, is fairly lightweight, but the ruffles make the whole thing a bit heavy. It did take two petticoats to get that amount of fluff. But I think, because of the difference in fabric, that it's more lightweight than the high waisted ivory skirt that I did last year. I used the same two petticoat underneath that skirt, and didn't get anywear near as nice poof.

Cryrin ---- And this was finished for part of a separate commission Please, tell me, did you also "braid" and sew the hat, or did you just add the decorations? If yes, do accept my compliments! If not, I still need to compliment you on the skirt and the bows! 3nodding

I know how to do straw braiding and hat-making, but in this particular instance I decided not to for the sake of keeping a low price-- so it's a pre-made hat base that was decorated.

I would love to make one on my own, so i hope it's not to indiscreet to ask what kind of shop can you find these miniature hats in? Do you think it would be a sort of shop, that might be found in Central Europe as well, perhaps? Thank you in advance smile

I've noticed that a lot of crafts shops will have them in their doll-making sections, or sometimes in home decor.

As spuntino mentioned-- you find them in a lot of craft stores, typically in the doll making section. If you cannot find it at any local craft stores, you might be able to look online for doll making supplies, or commission someone in the US to get some for you.

I believe I'll stick with the craft store version (though the ones I've visited so far didn't have any miniature hats, but I'll keep on searching smile ) since my mother doesn't allow me to place online orders of any sort cry

Last night [at probably 2am], I got the urge to sew. I made myself a new cardigan to wear with my Jewelry Print JSK. This is kind of a prototype, and I really want to redo it because the lace isn't sewn on exactly evenly and the collar's a bit skewed. The neckline of the cardigan was wider than I expected in making my pattern.
It's cute, though! I kind of want to shorten the sleeves just a couple of inches and add matching cuffs to the ends.

That is amazingly cute! Did you make this based off an already pre-existing cardigan like the sailor shirt you made for your guro outfit or is it completely made by you?

Yup, same as the guro t-shirt! I used a cardigan I got at WalMart for five bucks and attached the collar. I wish I had a serger, so I could make the cardigans 100% on my own, but I'm too afraid of using knits with a plain old singer, since they're almost bound to unravel without a serged edge to hold them.
I also think I need to find a different method for putting on the bias tape. The method that is recommended in the tutorial leaves some raw edges exposed under the collar, and the other method I used for the guro top makes the collar sit wrong entirely. So.
I'll have to play with it some more, I guess!

Serger's at the moment are on sale at Walmart which is where I got mine. I say that you still did a splendid job even with the problems you say you experienced. Do you still have the link to the original tutorial?

Yupyup!
Chiichicks Cardigan Tutorial
Make sure you measure the collar of the cardigan you're attaching the collar to, first. She doesn't mention that in the tutorial and just kind of says "have at it!" with the pattern she's already drawn up, which means that if you aren't careful, the neck portion of the collar won't be long enough [which happened to me this second time].

Ya I can see that being a problem after cutting everything out and then realizing that it won't fit. Thanks for the link I want to try this on the weekend
