Juna immediately looked down at her tray at the mention of it, which caused her hands to move slightly. A split-second in time, she quickly readjusted the tray, a light pink beginning to creep upon her cheeks. "I wouldn't mind you at all," she murmured, glancing over toward a nearly empty table. "Why not there?" Her hand, having a mind of its own, gently beckoned to the table, and her body soon followed afterward. It was true that she had had little social contact in the past, especially with those of the opposite sex, but she considered herself mature. Considered herself.

Juna sat down, brushing her hair from her eyes. Allowing her signature serious expression to take over her face, she could not help a glance at him. Maybe they could be, dare she think, friends? I bet he's a senior or something, was the bitter thought through her head. And I'm getting myself into a sticky situation... that's always what happens with older men, so I've heard, anyway.

Curious was this younger girl to Velvanir. First she had been shy, and then possibly even more shy just a moment ago, but now...Now she's completely changed again. "Must take practice," he thought to himself, lagging slightly behind the one who lead to the table.

It was fortunate the table was empty, only having three chairs anyway. Velvanir removed one from underneath the table and sat directly across from the person whom he had just met. Daring to look up from his tray, he saw the eyes of the observer wathing him closely and in deep thought. He quickly averted his eyes back to the oatmeal on the food tray and began to dip a bit from the bowl with a spoon. "Wonder what's on her mind..." he thought to himself, again not saying anything.

Juna, after realizing she was spotted, smiled wistfully and removed her hands from under her thoughtful chin. She picked up her bagel and carefully began to spread a mixture of butter and cream cheese on it, thinking as she did so. After taking a careful bite, she set it down again. "Well, thank you again for sitting with me. May I ask your name?" Taking a quick sip from her water, she began the process of eating while waiting for an answer. Alright, just don't screw up, she thought nervously. Apparently a bit of her anxiety had leaked out, for the bagel nearly dropped from her mouth, but she quickly got a hand on it.

Wonderful. Just wonderful. He seems so shy... it'd be a pity to scare him or something. I wouldn't want to do that. As she chewed, a daydream or two immediatly popped into her head. It never took her long to daydream, and usually it was unintentional. She also had a wonderful knack for appearing interested while doing so. It came in handy. A lot.

"My name..." Velvanir began, still looking at his oatmeal, "Is Velvanir. It's a very old English name, possibly started out in the middle ages." His voice remained smoothe throughout, not wavering in a pitch, but rather, it rolled along as if a sea came through; a deep, resonating harmony of bass and treble.

"What is your name, if I may ask?" Velvanir, attempting to be 'polite', as it were called, knew that he was performing well at it, though he should probably be a bit more outward with his own thoughts. This was his first contact in a very long while with anyone, but he knew that it was but a start for him. He had a fear that his deathly-pale skin would be problematic for him to find people to talk to, yet here was this girl, sitting just above his gaze, that approached him and offered him a seat. "A nice experience" as it would be called by Velvanir, but he knew that there were others out there that would be not-so-nice.

Juna blinked, unintentionally leaning closer. Old English. This was interesting. Much more like her dreams, fantasies, and poems. She finished off her bagel quickly, suddenly no longer hungry.

"I am Juna. I'm not sure where it came from, actually, but maybe a moon or something." Her eyes were examining him quickly. Such pale skin! Fine eyes, also. Seemed like a skinny thing. It would be easy to believe, perhaps, that oatmeal was the only thing he ate. "My mother's a... oh, you know, I don't think that matters much. What do you do... um... for hobbies?" For someone so nervous, she found herself oddly smooth. Then again, her face was flushed, and her heart was beating incredibly fast. A conversation, of sorts.

For once in his lifetime, Velvanir endeared to look up, and in doing so, he began the so called 'first steps' into society. "I don't really have any hobbies," he calmly stated, trying to figure out what was with this girl's constantly changing personalities. She had changed to an anxious personality without any sort of warning this time, and it was something that was bothering Velvanir a great deal.

"I doubt your name came from a moon though. Seems more like from a month, just with a femanine vowel-ending to match you better," he analyzed Juna's name, which was actually the most that he's said in a too-long-to-remember sort of period of time.

Juna blinked, considering briefly what Velvanir had said. Yes, that seemed to make sense. Why had she never thought of that before? She smiled a little, settling down. Alright. You can do this. Just... be normal. Yourself. Come on. "Ha. I think you're right. Funny how I'd never seen that before." She shook her head, picking up the other half of her bagel. "I don't really consider myself to have any hobbies, either..." She sighed.

He's not... too closed, then. Maybe. We're getting somewhere, halfway at least.

"It seems that we have a...familiarity then?" Velvanir somewhat asked Juna and partly asked himself, wondering what exactly to call this relationship that he had with this person that was sitting in front of him. It was strange to him, though, that he had somewhat lost his fear to look at this person, even though he just med her. It was a feeling that he had never before felt throughout any years anywhere, and it donned on him as to what exactly that feeling was, what it meant, and why he had felt it.

Juna nodded, a smile arriving on her lips without her knowledge. The man seemed... confused? He looked a tad dreamy. Finishing off her bagel, she looked at him curiously, tilting her head. "Yes, I do believe we do. You wouldn't happen to be an only child, would you?" She didn't expect an answer for the question, it was merely asked to keep the conversation going. She took a drink of water and then decided to confront the odd, realizing look on ghis face. "Is everything alright, Velvanir?" she asked curiously.

A little warm place nestled its way into her heart. The seed of a friendship, said her subconscious, but it discarded the thought before she could think it.

Snapping himself from the daze-like state that he was in by shaking his head once to each side, he again looked directly at Juna, and right into her eyes for once. Unwavering, he began to speak again, though very softly and intently, "Actually, I have no living relatives anymore. They all just...died away." His head tilted downward at a slight angle; almost instinctively, "And everything is fine with me. I just had some sudden thoughts about something. It's nothing to worry about though, just one of those...er...random thoughts?" He wasn't sure the exact word that he was looking for in his little sentence, but he figured that he was around where he needed to be with it.

Juna held his gaze fully, feeling even further warmed, though slighty chilled for some reason. "No living... that's definitely not a good thing." She shook her head, regretting breaking their eye contact, but feeling the need to. She knew that dwelling too long on the subject of lost parents and relatives would do no good. As his last sentence struck her, she found herself relieved that it was something, not someone. "Random thoughts," she smiled, "Yes, those are fun, I suppose so at least. Distracting, but they tell you something, at least I think..."

She looked to his bowl of oatmeal. "Are you finished, because if you are, I wouldn't mind a walk until class starts. Would you... um... be up for it?" She felt fuzzy again. This wasn't so bad. Not at all.

"If you'd allow me to take your tray to the scullery, then it'd be my pleasure to do so," Velvanir stated, standing up from the table and holding out his hand towards Juna, readilly open to accept the tray. A walk would probably soothe out his mind, clearingit of thoughts that did not belong there, or at least, the thoughts that Velvanir thought did not belong in his mind. This would be his first walk with any single person, and he was unsure about this in the back of his head. Reacting purely instinctively by trusting Juna, he had no doubt in his mind that he should accept, though the outcome of events was an uncertainty.

Juna offered the tray, even though not much was on it. She stood along with it, smiling at him softly. He was polite. That was definitely a good quality to remember. She found her mind wandering, and sharply brought it back. Alright, so now she DID have someone to cling onto, but she wasn't going to let that stunt her growth. Oh, no.

Personally, Juna enjoyed walks. They were calming, but at the same time, exciting enough, but she assumed this was only her. Her thoughts always led her to the most strange of places. Now that there was another accompanying her, though, she wasn't exactly sure. Would it be all small-talk? It was a curious situation to play out in her mind. At least Velvanir seemed a tad more open than before. She waited patiently for him, trying to think of a few things to say, but she came up dry.

While the walk to the scullery seemed like a small distance, the thoughts that rammed themselves through Velvanir's head made it seem forever. The thoughts were of random things; mere holes of thought processes that never ended, nor really began anywhere to start with. One thing did cross his mind though, and it was a question of what he would talk about.

He knew that he had very little experience with society and that could pose problems while he walked with his newfound friend, though he trusted that there would be something to discuss.

Arriving back tray-less to Juna, Velvanir questioned himself one last time of whether what he was doing was right and just. That final question ended in an instant defeat by the forces bound by trust, in which he felt a little bit better now.

"Shall we leave then?" he inadvertently asked Juna; instinctively moving to her side. She was somewhat short in stature to Velvanir, but he didn't mind that in the least. She may not be a senior, but that could have blown out of the window for all he felt about 'class superiority'.

Juna nodded, feeling slightly dwarfed by the obviously older male. Discarding this as senseless prejudice, she led the way outside, hoping to walk a few times around the beautiful fountain at the center of campus. Staying but a few inches away from him, she let her hands rest beside her ask she spoke.

"So, Velvanir, you have any friends here?" Her eyes were wandering around, staring at the scenery surrounding them. She also took note of him, and how he seemed to fit right in in a slightly dysfunctional way. This was a question she truly wanted to ask, and for several reasons, too. A small part of her wanted him all to herself, but she quickly squished it with sense.
