rena moved back a few steps and sat down cross leged.

"take your time, i've got to sort though my mind"

her gazed became unfocused and her body relaxed as she entered a meditation trance.

why am I helping her? Is it for answers or just a whim? And what about me? What am I going to do? Do I trust her enough to fight side by side? And then there is that doll…… she read my mind what is there to trust? And what’s wrong with my mind and my aura? Then there’s….. and….. they are strong how would i…… what is…… I need to talk to him. I need to. rena’s mind was awash with thoughts until one desire came though loud and clear.

Rena opened her eyes and looked around. It was dark and foreboding place, ruble and crystal shards scattered around. she to look for the one thing she hoped that was still there and it was. Siting in a large basin was the firebird. It looked diminished since she last saw it, he was half his usual size was merely glowing a soft red; like coals or embers.

He stretched his neck as rena looked at him. “Welcome back, your mind was too chaotic to reach here alone so I bragged you the rest of the way.”

“why is it so dark?” the place usually glowed a golden light.

“because of what you are missing, your energies and ability to use my power is diminished.” The firebird replied with the tone the suggests a joke.

“I need your power, I haven’t been getting any lately.” rena said scornfully.

he laughed, such a display of disrespect would have earned a reprimand not laughter. He was in a good mood. “if you could remember the last time you used my power you would know why. It was glorious. But all good things come to an end, and I find this end funny as hell! But I am afraid you can’t use it until you desire it. Simple drawing of power and wants won’t work now.”

“but I need more.” Rena pleaded

“I’ll restore some of your mind but until you, heh, 'feel' the need to use me my power is locked.” He spread his wings and fire enveloped him and spread everywhere. The heat was unbearable, a great scorching heat that could burn the sky.

Rena’s vision blurred into reds and oranges as she fainted from the heat.

She woke from her meditation coved in cold sweat and she was gasping for breath.

[Yokai monks now. if this keeps up i might have to goole things razz and we lost you rival stare (or he moved, i'll go find out soon). ah well. now we continue...... ]

rena was dewildered. just leaving meditation and was being man handeled and parantly nursed by some guy while seeing her past overlapped with the present. it was unnerving.

"what? who..... Kurotabo?" rena stammered.

remembering his question she paused to collected herself. shifting slightly into meditation she collected and strenghtened her aura. her old lessons fresh in her head she wrapped her aura around her as a magic barrier.

"what troubles me?" rena asked looking up and for the first seeing him clearly. "on days like today what doesn't trouble me?"
