The boy leaves the kitchen stunned and confused. It helps though that this undine is quite young and still looks like a child. Kero can only imagine what the youngster's reaction would have been had she been a mature one.

The rest of the day passes uneventfully. The twins down their share of fish and then some, so it is a good thing Passura managed to catch more while out playing. Then Emnast invites Passura up to the cave for a soak, giving Kero a wink.
"I think your sirrah wants to talk to Bez... and read the girls a bedtime story. Ye can spend the night if you want. I've enlarged me caverns to include a guest room now. Want to try it out?"
The boy's eyes widen and he turns to Kerobian with a grin. "Can I, mes'sirrah?" he begs hopefully.

Pasa runs to give him a hug, then goes off with Emnast, riding on his back.
Kero turns to find three pairs of eyes looking at him hopefully.
"Are ye..." starts Ari.
"Weally gonna wead..." adds Mara with a giggle.
"To them..." laughs Bez handing him an enormous book of children stories. "Good luck... I usually beg off about the fourth one..."
"Daddy...." groan the two in unison, each of them grabbing onto a portion of Kero's clothing and pulling him to a wide rocking chair, big enough to hold both cubs and one other person..

"One.... " starts Mari then falls silent.
"Naw... twos...." corrects her sister.

"Fowr..." says Ari thoughtfully, trying to count her toes. She looks at Mara who shrugs.
"Fowr okay, I gwess." says the darker cub crawling into his lap.
Not to be outdone, her sister tries to do the same and manages to push her off. "Sowwy..." Ari says in an almost sincere voice.
Mara sticks her rump in the air, tail lashing angrily. "I gets you." she cries getting ready to pounce.
