"I.... I'm fine." says Bez in a gruff voice. "I thought ye heard me. Should have known ye didn't. Your ears perk up when yer aware of someone behind ye... ye ever notice that..." He buffs out a stubborn scorch mark and smiles. "You're actually quite an easy read. Have ye always been like that?"

Bez shrugs as he works. "I'll get over it... I always do... give me a few days and I'll be right as rain... I hope..." he adds under his breath as he works, ignoring Kerobian's sympathetic look. He puts the pot down and sighs. "Listen... I'm sorry I scared ye, ok... and I know I have this problem... I've even gone to a shrink about it... but it is just too deep seated to completely erase. Hell, I'd give anything to get rid of it... anything but Ai and the girls that is..."

Bez's head comes up with a start. "You do... where... I mean what causes it? Tell me... if ye know yo must tell me... Please Kerobian. I don't think I can live next to you two if you don't and I don't want to chase you away."

Bez shudders at the vision and goes chalk white. "I... I remember that day... I was sitting on a rocky outcrop... so hungry my stomach was twisting itself around my backbone. I'd never experienced hunger before. Didn't even know how to hunt..." He blinks and savagely shakes his head. "I don't know if you've ever been that hungry, Kero... it isn't a nice feeling I tell you... And I was so damnably angry... probably why I couldn't seem to catch anything. Too early in the spring for berries or fruit.. to late for any of the winter stragglers to be up and about... most had been killed off by then. So I was sitting on that damn rock wishing I was dead when this thing... never saw it really I didn't... came up from behind me... it bit me on the shoulder and then proceeded to wrap itself so tightly about me so quickly... I thought I was going to die... couldln't breath... couldn't think... and then...."

Bez laughs bitterly. "Funny isn't it... how ye learn things about yerself when yer in danger that ye'd never learn otherwise... sometimes I don't wonder if that wasn't his intent all along. Anyway... one minute I'm slowly being crushed to death.. only I'm not so sure I can die... hurt yeah... man it hurt... the next I'm sitting on a branch of a tree well out of reach... with no idea as to how I got there. I sure figured it out though... and when I did... I began using it to my advantage."

"One of them... " Before Kero's eyes, Bez becomes insubstantial and drifts away for few feet, looking like little more than a bit of smoke on the breeze. It reforms and Bez appears, only this time he is little more than a humanoid outline on the ground... a shadow without body to cast it. Once again he reforms this time into the dark hair seductive tempter Kero remembers from his childhood with Tam. Bez gives him a wink and then he's back to normal, all signs of his transformations gone in a blink.

Bez solemnly shakes Kero's hand and nods. "Mighty fine tasting, too... though I'd doubt ye'd agree with that. Once I learned how to move like that... the first thing I went hunting was... well... the snake... sorry."
