tam calls one of the serving girls over and makes a request... a short time later she appears carrying a basket ined with a soft wool blanket... tam takes up his normal spot near the fire. pulls forth his harp from some obscure hiding place (he refuses to use his air pocket in public) and tells kero to climb into the basket and sleep if he must... then he begins playing... most of his music is of a calming sort this night... everyone in the village is exhausted after working so hard in the fields and no one complains... not even the innkeeper who finds himself closing up early that night as the last of the patrons goes home...

tam rolls his eyes and continues on until the last patron is gone... then he sits by the fire and plays for the staff a bit, before deciding to call it a night...
he carries kero upstairs and tucks him in, then goes up on the roof to do a bit of star gazing.... and finds himself face to face with an unwanted visitor....

tam sighs and introduces hopian to bez, who snorts derisively... more of yer animal friends, dulcha... he slurs the last word so it sounds nothing like it does when tam uses it...

*Hopian's light focuses on Bez, and he places his hand on Tam, who is filled with hope, once again glimpsing the vision of he and Kero laughing with their future mates around a fire...and the light from his Opal seems to surround Bez, seeking his heart...in the lion's eyes flash bolts of Lightning*

oddly enough, bez seems completely unfazed... he pulls tam into a rough hug, promises he'll be back for him soon and disappears.... leaving tam shaken and angry...
sorry hopian... he's not just any fallen soul... he is the fallen soul... yer gonna have trouble facing him down... the best i've ever done is run.....

Don't worry...I may not know him...but I've heard of those like him...Kero's brother has that self-same air...and he can't stand against all twelve of us...Just speak my name into the opal I gave you...and all of us will appear...

tam smiles kindly at the lion and thanks him for his help in chasing bez away... though deep in his heart he knows that summoning the gem children would probably be the last thing he would do when facing down bez... because bez would find ways to subvert them or erase them, without any thought of compassion... knowing only that they were getting in his way....

his evening spoiled, tam goes back inside and locks the window.... then he crawls into bed with kero, pulling him close and burying his face in his fur

*Unbeknownst to Tam, the gemchild of the peridot appears, pulling his hand gently to the gem on his brow...all of Tam's worries melt away as peace floods his mind...the child disappears in a small blizzard, leaving nothing but some frost on the floor*
