"I'd say your hand, but that would suck to have to put it in the oven to make paninis with wouldn't it?"

*Kero smiles*
Okay...but if I bring the paddles and use them just for Panini, and use my hand on you instead?

"Then you'd be uni-tasking...." laughed Pasa with a grin. "I think I'm ready, mes'sirrah. All my important stuff is right here. I'm going to miss Em's pool though. We worked hard on that thing. You may have a nicer one.... but when ye make something yerself..."

*Kero smiles again...almost indulgently*
Uni-Tasking, eh? Nice comeback...okay, since you're against my uni-tasking, we'll just bring them along and keep doing it the way we were doing. But we're still going to sleep here for the night...see...the sun's going down...get some rest, Pasa. We leave tomorrow at high noon.

The boy looks at him shrewdly. "I'm hungry, mes'sirrah... we haven't eaten since breakfast. You may be able to live on air, but my tummy says if I don't put something in it soon, it's going to crawl out and get it itself."

*Kero smiles, and pulls his son into the kitchen...using the panini paddles in Pasa's preferred method of usage*
How's this, my son? Better than nothing?

The boy nods in agreement and adds his own addition to the impromptu feast... miso soup.... He had discovered some of the ingredients in the stores the day before and has been thinking about it for some time.

*Kero starts when he sees it*
Where'd you learn how to make that?
**Remind me...seaweed soup, right? Made from the algae wrapped around some sushi...Nori, I believe it is called**

**nope... it is a bean paste based soup.... dashi and miso.... dashi is a fish base stock... though it can be vegetable... miso is the bean paste dissolved into it... it varies from region to region as to what else you add... we add nori, tofu, scallions or chives... and sometimes thinly sliced celery to it**
The boy looks up with a smile. "We made this at home a lot, when the men came back from the trading missions. They were trade our fresh water fish for salt water ones, plus some of our ore. We couldn't grow the beans there either... so it was a treat. It is really really good, mes'sirrah."

**Thanks for clearing that up...I really was off with that..and good news...nothing in my eye, I just have viral pinkeye...so I can still go to class...just have to warn people not to touch me**
*Kero smiles, sampling the soup...and suddenly pulls out his harp and begins singing about it*
**I've heard of singing praises to a dish...so I figured, what the heck**

The boy giggles so much he attracts the attention of a certain kitsune who has not yet left. Keveka sticks his head in the door to the kitchen and sniffs appreciatively... "Yummm..." he says licking his lips... do I smell what I think I smell... who's ordered carry out from home?"
**hmmm... miso soup in three part harmony... now that's a thought ... funny thing is... it's such a common thing... kind of like egg drop soup in a Chinese restaurant. But we love it... it's great on a cold day... ** rolleyes

Keveka grins and walks in. "Tiny little spirit with a big big heart... keeps giving parts of himself away... Is there enough for another bowl, Passura?"
The boy nods and dishes up an additional bowl from a strange pot he found in the back of the cupboard. One that never seems to empty of whatever you put into it, until you turn it upside down.
Keveka sits down with them and inhales deeply. "Ah, now this is making me eager to go back. Ma makes the best miso soup. Champhy always messes it up by putting too much stuff in. It's supposed to be a broth soup with a few things added for flavor, nothing more." he says swirling the bowl slightly to get the miso back into the broth. He sips it slowly straight from the bowl and nods. "Not bad... who made it? I don't think I've ever seen you make anything from my homeland, Kero. Not that I mind. Your cooking is superb."

When Tam took care of me, the last book we were going to do was Japanese style cooking...but I grew up before we could try it....
