"So... how old will you be on your birthday, little one?" asks Amestru between bites of his steak and eggs.
"Sewven..." she replies happily in a sing song voice. "We's gonna haff a pawty."
"Oooo. I love parties." laughs Keveka coming over. "Did I hear something about a very special party being held soon."
"Uhuh... I gonna haff a birfday." says LUna solemnly, giving him a toothy grin.
"Well, you know what that means..." laughs the young kitsune. "Presents... lots and lots of presents."
Luna's eyes get as big as saucers.
Lyssan laughs. "I take it you didn't tell her that part."

Lyssan smiles at the tiny black dragon and gives her a hug. "Keva is right, dear heart. On your birthday, anyone who comes to your party is supposed to bring a gift. It doesn't have to be a big gift, but it is supposed to be special. It will be your special day, of course. So what flavor is your favorite cake?"
Luna looks at her as if she's grown a second head. "Chowcowate..." she replies in confusion.
"Oh, that's right, you and I both love chocolate cake..." laughs Lyssan merrily.

"And don't forget to put seven candles on it," says Keva looking at her.
"Candwels? Why put candwels on cake?" asks Luna perturbed. "You no eat candwels."

Lyssan laughs and gives her a hug. "You do that, little one. Maybe Ame can help you. HIs fire starting skills have been getting rusty."
"My what?" cries Amestru. Suddenly all the candles in the room are brightly burning.

Ame starts to object, but Luna stops him with a well placed. "How you do dat?"
He turns to look at her. "Do what, kiddo?"

Ame glares at Kero, then goes into an abbreviated description of how to use minor fire spells with Luna. "I'm not a fire mage like your daddy, but most mages can use the minor spells of most schools. Energy is energy, Luna, and once you learn how to manipulate it it's easy, actually."

Her eyes wide, she nods seriously in return. But she loves the subject of magic and begs for Amestru to tell her more. He doesn't go over her head like her daddy does. The old wolf laughs and fills her a plate, sitting her down next to them and begins drilling her to find out how much she does know.
