She wanted to stand and hug him, but he forced herself to stay in her place, Wake up Riza, wake up, he is there, obviously trying to apologize for what he have been doing to you, thought for herself, when he said the same she told him, when she was pointing at him with her gun, her heart accelerated, then he held his head in his hands, he was so, sad, she didnt knew still, how be sure that this wasnt going to happen again?, how?, her silence was deep, confused, but she always relied on him, Roy never failed her, she stood up, and walked towards him, slowly, afraid, of what?, not be able to get apart of him anymore, approached to him, kneeling and hugged him, silent tears, fell down her cheeks " I dont want to live without you..." whispered softly " but I can not let myself get lost again...I am tired of being just a chess piece...I want to be something else than...the soldier, than the Lt. Hawkeye..." said " I want to be just Riza..." said drawing back a little " Thats why I left...how I know we are not going to end up like this again?..how? "

Roy was seated on the couch as she knelt down on the floor and hugged him Roy listened quietly as she spoke as she drew back slightly Roy held onto her hands and smiled when she asked him how would she ever ensure that this didn't happen to them again.
"I'm glad you asked that..." Roy let go of her hands and reached into his pocket removing the small red velvet box and held it open "The red gem in the center of the ring shined vividly in the pail morning light that beamed in through her window wile the two diamonds on ether side of the ruby captured and reflected the light in may small spots around the couch and floor. "Shouldn't I be the one kneeling in front of you?"

Riza moved from her state of concern to one of total surprise, still in her place, without a word getting out of her lips, not even the air, that was stuck in its way in, her heard skipped a beat, while trying to process, what she was looking and what she heard " Roy?...." said like asking what are you doing? , no he wasnt asking her to marry him doesnt it?, he was?, she hugged herself, rising a hand coveringher mouth, no words, no thoughts, no nothing, just, the silence, the sound of the trees with the wind in the morning, the sunlight coming in the living room for the windows, she in front of him...and him..holding a ring, a beautiful ring, she looked the ruby and its amazing red and orange flashes, like fire...and the two diamonds, glowing so pure...so crystalline, she looked at him " Oh my....g...god " said softly, her eyes wanted to fill up in tears but, she just took more air, had cryed enough, no, he was really going to ask her?, she approached one hand and gently touched the gems " Roy...." said then, he loved her, yeah, he do loved her, smiled " idiot!! " whispered, letting her eyes fill up in tears, he was a complete crazy, loving idiot, one of those, that you love because they are actually idiots, special idiots that make you cry, when no one else does, that you know, you cant live without them, because then your life, turns miserable, that kind of idiot. Rubbed her eyes and smiled " I love you...." said in a whisper, yeah, she never was able to say it, but right there, just right there...was the right moment " I love you so much...I always did, always"

Roy smiled, "I love you too Riza....lets go outside now everyone is waiting I'm sure they'll all be happy to know you said yes. They came all this way with me but I made them stay outside your grandfather has been really nerve racked." Roy reached up to take her hand after searching around for a moment he finely found it and griped it firmly as he stood up. How he felt at the moment was indescribable all his worries had been put to rest by her three simple words by morning the radio would be all over this story. And that was fine, he was happy that he could at least have this time to be alone. "Were going to spend most of our trip home on the train I left with out letting many people know where I was going so I'm sure a lot of people are going nuts right now, and I ditched a meeting with congress they'll be outraged but given the circumstance I'm sure they'll let me slide with out too much of a tongue lashing.." As they walked out the door Roy ran his fingers over her ring finger feeling the gems on the ring, "I'm glad you like the ring, it fits you doesn't it?"

Hughes wept a bit, but held back most of it, his eyes were closed but there was a wide smile on his face as he was quietly clapping looking on to Riza and Roy holding hands. He could see the ring from here and a small bullet of envy struck remembering that Roy make a bit more than him. All in all Hughes was happy even though Grumman was sobbing all over his military uniform. " Well, there's one more problem that we can put to bed.... Its a shame though...now every time I call him, I can't ask if he has a wife yet." Hughes sighed a bit, but then walked in closer into the cluster of people. Hughes suddenly noticed they sky was a pink-ish orange with a hint of blue, he felt even more happy.
( Damn... I felt like I saw the entire series over again...)
