"Smart alec" says Tam with a tight grin. "Have you been smoking anything in here?"

"Good..." says Tam with a heavy sigh. "Thyrion, may I speak with your master in private?" he asks quietly.

Tam tells Kero that they are going for a walk. Confused, but glad to get out of the cottage for even a short period of time, Kero readily agrees.
As they walk, Tam begins to tell Kero that he can't stop him from doing foolish things, but he sincerely hopes the lion has learned enough to know when a foolish thing has happened.
Kero frowns at this. "What kind of foolish thing are you talking about, sirrah?" he asks, though he has a sneaking suspicion he knows what Tam means.
Tam shoves his hands into his pockets and whistles a soft tune, that sends them both flying in time and space until they come to the battered gate of a burnt out city. Without speaking he leads Kero through the silent streets. Time has softened the impact of the damage to some extent, but it is clear that all of this once grand city fell in a single night.
In the center of town sits a white stone fountain, from which a trickle of water still runs, despite the weed choked state it is presently in. Sitting down on it's rim, Tam draws one knee up to his chest and studies the surroundings in grim silence.

Tam points to the remains of what must have been a fine tower. "See that?" he asks thoughtfully.

"I used to live there for a time. Way back when... It was a school.... mostly magic... but they had a bardic branch as well. Half the town revolved around the school. It was known throughout the land. Sons of lords and princes would come to be taught... or so they said. Some of them couldn't have cast themselves out of a paper bag... but there was enough talent amongst the main body of students no one noticed it... kind of sad really."
He sighs and looks around some more. "There was a theater over ther and the tavern I used to eat at each night was right about there... don't see much of it, I'm afraid... as that is where most of this started."

Tam sighs. "Some people drink... others use recreational drugs... I don't approve of the later, but since I'm known to do the first. I really can't scold you now... can I? But I wanted you to see something... something that happened because of a small group of people who thought they could do whatever they wanted and it wouldn't matter."
He sighs and pulls himself up off the rim of the fountain and starts walking towards the remains of the school.
"There was a division among the student body... nobles against the common born. A nasty division. True most of the talent laid with the commoners, which kept the nobles in check, but only just so. Then one day we got a new student. He was a rough sort... street rat some called him, but I suppose had anyone had to have lived the life he lived before coming to the school... they wouldn't have been much better off. His mother was a street walker... he was an accident... he never knew who his father was... and she hated being saddled with him. His only friend was a tiny lizard he found playing at the edge of the fire pit one day."
