Lyssan @kero... you come out on a ridge line of rough reddish brown rock... very little grows here... and that which does is stunted and warped... fungi and scraggly trees... nothing large or healthy looking... the air is hot and acrid... filled with a carnal stench.... the ridge rises gently before you ending in a abrupt bluff and some distance below you see bloated corpses and bits and pieces of things you'd rather not know... small strange flying lizards pick at the bodies much as crows would ravage bodies left on an earthen battlefield... behind you stretches a tortured landscape, dotted with craters and pools of foul liquids, some steaming, others rimmed with hoarfrost... you see no sign of life behind you and only death before... but the battle cannot be far off for the sounds of fighting fill the air... perhaps, just out of sight in the valley below... the sky over head is a heavy dull grey... there is a garish harsh light coming from somewhere, but no sun can be seen... it is difficult to tell what time of day it is.... of lyssan there is no sign, yet you sense she has been here and moved on... but where... down into the battle? or towards the pools? Great...just great...She would come to this part of Gehenna first. *Follows the ridge, angling down towards the pools, hoping his brother will be close behind him...Darkness is very powerful in the realm of shadows and despair. Moving along, Kero skirts the battle, not willing to make his prescence known* Of all the places to land, Lyssan...you would have to wind up in Jigoku. *Sarcastic thought* Why not Naraka, while we're at it...the Isles are in Geryon's realm...not Samael's or Enma's. @Austin: Matey, you're with Hopian and the Gem-children...I'm way ahead. Talk to them and get them moving, or Lyssan and I are doomed.

the pools are scattered and the regions between them rugged and hard to traverse... the first pool you come to is still, it looks fresh clear and blue but this much kero knows... in this realm those things which look wholesome are the least most likely to be so....besides bones scattered about its rim warn you off... this pool is not what it appears to be.... picking up a small femur, kero tosses it in.... instantly the water begins to foam and hiss... moments later the bone is no more.... nope... no portal here... he thinks and moves on... catching a faint whiff of lyssan's scent as he carefully skirts the first pool and moves on to the next... it is a tantalizing lure and he backtracks a bit to find signs of hasty construction... and an indication that a small group of individuals were here at best...

*Tracking Ly's scent, Kero grumbles to himself as he skirts the place where the warriors were fighting*
Ly...you and I are going to have words when this is over...I had no intention of coming to Jigoku, nor of fighting oni.
*Transforms into a shadow and hides as a group of oni pass him, then reforms and continues tracking*
I swear, you will spend a thousand years as a PUP if I have to track you through any other of these afterlives...especially Naraka or Hell.

as the troll like creatures move on ahead, you catch a glimpse of something interesting... one of them is carrying a cage like basket on it's back... inside is huddle a statue of a small fox demon...

*Hopian bounds ahead of Austin, darting towards the cliff face that overshadows the battlefield. When Austin reaches it behind him, he is horrified to see an endless war between unarmed and stripped down dragons and a race of strange, troll like creatures*
Hopian: Oni...the demons of Jigoku...now why would Kero come here? This is the Draconian Netherworld...the only other creatures that belong here are some of the eviler kami. Kero should be searching in Hell or the Abyss, or even Hades...not here.
*Meanwhile, tracking the oni with the fox statue, Kero stops and takes a swig from the jug of water he brought with him. When he does so, he notices that the oni are carrying the statue towards a great gate in the wall of the world*
Kero: Now where could they be going? Naraka...or the Abyss?
*Turns into a shadow and merges with the shadow of the basket, following them*

the gates are huge, iron-worked and covered with gears, odd, it is ticking, slowly, tick... tock... tick... tock...
beyond it is a city, sprawling out into the distance, the oni hesitate at the gate, arguing amongst themselves about meeting up with someone... but you cannot make out who or why they need to find this person. finally, the largest of the group, shuts up his companions with his fists, knocking them head over heals, then grabs the cage and walks boldly into the town... it is a strange metropolis... odd winged creatures are perpetually working on the walls of the city and buildings, changing it even as you go by... it's inhabitants seem peaceful, an odd assortment of undead, demonic, and astral... it stirs a distant memory... something about a Lady and Pain....

Austin Slides down the cliff then jumps into the battle he slays four of the trolls One by shooting in the forehead the second impaled its heart with his sword and the other two he ducked and they hit each other with there weapons) Who want more I'm ready you scums! (he gestures mockingly at the trolls) scream burning_eyes

(After Austin had slain those four he had realized he was surrounded by a couple dozen more large onis each taller than a average human, all wielding blunt weapons of Japanese design and all were moving in on the pirate) Hmm Great...(Austin then smiles) wait a minute! surprised biggrin This is perfect opportunity for me to test my hand-held-boom-ball! (pulls out a black metal ball with a fuse on it he shoots the fuse drops it then scurries through one of the trolls legs then runs. The oni look back at the ball...Then it explodes. Austin tumbles covered in oni guts) well...(wiping the slime off) at least it worked! rofl pirate rofl

Hopian: We cannot help these dragons, pirate...they're damned...this is their Hell. We have to find my brother.
*Meanwhile, Kero has continued to follow the oni, merged with the shadow of the basket. He doesn't speak their language, but he can easily understand that they are headed somewhere. he also hears the rumors flying through the city of invasion by the twelve children of the Elementals themselves...the gem-children. Reassured that his brother has made it, he tightens his attachment to the baskets's shadow, ready to strike out at a moment's notice*
