"Today! But I haven't had time to study!" cries Passura in disimay, but he gamely attempts the work anyway, pryaing he remembers it all seeing as he hasn't done any for days now.

*Kero smiles....he knows...and this is simply to see how well Pasa had studied before hibernation*

He hunkers down over the paper, scratching his head from time to time, but solving them all, he thinks, though one or two do make him a bit nervous at first. He really wants that book, so he does his best. As he works Kero notices that he really does have an aptitude for the simpler forms of math, but then he comes from a culture where all such figuring is done in the head at an early age, so addition and subtraction come relatively easy for him. Now, if only he could learn the multiplication tables and division facts with as easy an ease as that, he'd never need a calculator.

He's got it all right... sort of. Two of the problems have the right answer but he actually solved them wrong and merely stumbled across the right ones. Now what? He sits down to help the boy find his mistakes and soon the two of them are deep in math, something which comes easy for Kero now, but not so for the boy. Of course he is doing work that he'd not be normally doing at this age so maybe he's not that handicapped after all.

*Kero, after trying to explain how these are supposed to be done, simply gives in...and opens a portal, crooking his finger at Pasa, who is looking a touch worried*

W..What's in there, Me'Sirrah?

*Kero laughs, and imitates Rafiki*

You follow...you see....

*Dives in*

The boy follows him through the portal, puzzled, and comes out chilled to the bone. Shivering he yawns hugely, asking. "Wha.. what's here, mes'sirrah?" His teeth are chattering and his eyes look rather heavy.

*Kero smiles...and turns him around...and he sees....books...towers and towers upon towers of books....more books than anyone could hope to read in a thousand lifetimes...*

He immediately starts to wake up, sort of. Chafing his arms, he begins to wander the aisles between the stacks and grins from ear to ear. "Mes'sirrah... you have read all these books?" he asks excitedly, running a careful finger along a few of the spines. He finds something that makes him blush, a fact that is noticable only by the purples in his coloring going a deep deep red. Giggling he passes that one by and looks at another. It appears to be more along what he considers appropriate as he carefully pulls it forth and skims the inside before putting it back.

Following along behind him, Kero sees that it is a book on the physiology of birds.

Somehow Pasa has managed to start in the section on anatomy and physiology... of course a good number of these books are rather explicit and pertain to creatures he has never seen.

*Kero chuckles*

Pasa...wrong section...follow me, please...

*Leads him down to a section of reference books*

Here are books, sorted by me...by a very distinct sorting system...you'll notice the majority of books are marked with either an I, HU, or BI...these stand for Idiom, Halfway Useful, and Blithering Idiot. Idiom denotes a book with religious, or otherwise biased tendencies...it is a special offshoot of Blithering Idiot, as anyone who can't be bothered not to be biased in their scientific studies is probably a moron. Blithering idiot is those books that, while not biased, really contain very little in the terms of useful information...you'll notice the majority of fat books, as well as textbooks, are marked either I or BI. Halfway useful are books that have a mix of Idiocy and Useful information. Any books marked with a U, or with a G...those stand for Useful and Great...Useful is books with information outweighing nonsense and filler, while great actually makes the filler entertaining. You'll not see a lot of G's...nor for that matter a lot of U's.

**I actually do use this system...or I would if I had my library...most reference books I've read would be marked I, or BI...**

Pasa starts scanning the shelves, looking for refence books on familiar animals. He's beginning to get frustrated.

"Animals... or creatures from around here... or my homeland... something I know a little about, but want to know more on... lions would be nice, but I'd like anything, mes'sirrah.... don't want to sound picky." he says finally yawning hugely and rubbing his eyes. He looks at Kerobian and sighs. "How do you know what is what?"
PostPosted: Thu Nov 12, 2009 1:34 pm

*Kero smiles*

Because I've spent millions of years in here, Pasa....now...if you want those types of Bestiaries...*Darts around, gathering a sextet of books...one on lions and five on each type of animal typically found in tropical rainforest setting*...those should help a bit.

The boy accepts the books with a nod and a shy smile. "And can I have a language book, too? I... I think I should start with the language of dragons... it is almost like mine own. Sometimes I think I understand it... but I always get something wrong."
