I'm personally aggravated as ******** about it all. And no, please don't troll me for that either. DM made it easier to earn gold but it wasn't any easier with pages and pages to scroll through XD;
I think I'm mostly annoyed with it because Gaia is all "DM is horrible, it creates inflation" and then goes "Oh here, dolphins can drop special coins" etc.
I'm annoyed with Gaia's reasoning as their wanting booty grab about being social. Since well, the booty grab threads have really lessened to "bump/ heart / biggrin " I suppose they're believing that a picture has a thousand words.. xp
If Gaia can provide a text based concept on site, that'd be great.

if they prohibit DM they should at least bring back the dolphins. >> It's hard enough to get the items you want here. -.-
That's what I think.
I do not really like gaia's system of making money. -.- I do not support them by buying cash. -.- I've other stuff to buy than any virtual clothings. >> I like the idea of the website und the stuff the staff creats is most of the time pretty cool.
But sometimes i get the feeling that they don't care about the community and just want to make some money. >>
But that's just what I think. I can cope with other oppinions.

azndreams I think it has to do with gaia trying to secretly control inflation. I agree and it's completely ridiculous. They're making it so hard to buy anything without Gaia cash. That just makes me want to buy it less. How fun is it if you have to struggle for any large amount of gold all of the time to buy something nice? Not much at all, and that chases people away. If you offer more cool free things, people are more likely to invest in stuff worth real money. Gaia really needs to stop being so obviously money hungry. There's making a profit and then there's just being greedy.

Sorry to add on, but I also wanted to say that I was planning on earning the millions of gold I need for Faustine's Bottle mostly by earning it myself in dolphinmania. Completely legit and now I'll have to rely mostly on generous users. It's very similar to the government right now. Make us rely on others and the people in charge for money by taking away the ways we can earn money on our own.

In a way they're trying to cater to those with an expendable income who contribute to Gaia through Gaia Cash. I know I sound like a loon with a conspiracy theory but I doubt that inflation is the only reason why Gaia is so gung ho on sites like these.

I know Greg had his reasons of shutting down the site, and Lanzer'c concern of the economy is righteous, but I honestly think closing the site down was a bad move. Although if Greg's account was on the line, I suppose I can deal with it.
The thing about DM is that it really did help a lot of people, old, new and the regular members achieve what they needed. It was something that helped those with hectic lives get an extra buck. It didn't make us forget about gaia or anything, it just modified our gaian lives. I have never achieved 100k before DM and I have been a member since '04. This is my second account. From DM I was able to pass that retriction and go all the way to 600k without obsessively playing for hours in a very laggy thread and looking for booty grabs. The chances of finding bg's was also lower. The thread was amazing thank you for giving us that opportunity. I hope gaia could create something similar and try to minimize its use, but I doubt it. The reason why this left a sour taste in my mouth is because bg was the thing that TURNED ON this crazy inflation EVEN MORE, so were the Ei's. The monthly collectibles don't as much. So if Lanzer wants to tackle inflation he should do something about BG instead of getting rid of the best way to make gold. I know a lot of people complain and say to go to threads, but the lagging literally crashes user's computers. Greg was considerate enough to create a lag free environment. Listen friends, it's not called Laziness which you inconsiderably named the users who were upset at DM's closure if their computers literally can't handle going to these BG threads, its called something that is unjust. If only there was a way to limit the amount of gold earned at a time or the time one could play at DM. They could have worked something like that out, where your ip was limited to a certain time limit, rather than just banning the whole site. Now we don't even have BG due to spring cleanup. I don't agree with the sites closure, I believe that their could have been some other agreement that would have helped many needy users achieve their quests and the inflation.
The rumors of gaia loosing money I believe is false. If they are that greedy to threaten [I think] one's account and shut down a site that BENEFITS many, inflation or no inflation, then I believe that this site would be in the deep end, where users would have to pay to be subscribed, but it's not. Also, the site promoted good fish tanks, which required users to buy fish and they most likely bought it from the cash shop, unless they are filthy rich, which I doubt. So in the end it would have helped them reach more money. I hope the details would be released in time of the phone conversation as Greg mentioned on page four. Although I will admit a little part of me does believe it had something to do with money. Though that's with good reason since the site has been giving out more get rich themes with all their ei's and such. I do understand the site needs money to operate though, so please don't remind me.
They ARE making it difficult to buy anything, it's almost comical that they actually care for the economy. I meen wouldn't allowing DM and letting the prices inflate increase their gaia cash sells? Or is it the fact that people actually get their gold from DM enough to get quests and they no longer need to rely on gaia cash that might have upseted them. Either way they would have gotten more money from the people who buy the aquarium items, so I don't see their complaints, besides having a smaller audience.
Even if BG was a game to find to play, gaians still made bg threads, and GAIA HAD NO PROBLEM WITH THAT APPARENTLY!!!
Also, we had to search for tanks in dolphinmania too, it's not like Greg made it so that all tanks glew at once, we had to look at them and go through pages at a time. There HAVE been slow days, so their whole egg hunting bullshit logic is void.

I feel like quitting gaia stare EDIT: but anyways, Thank you for making the DM...It was a really big help for me especially when they take 2% tax from my sales in MP
