Pictures at an Exhibition. :I
The time signature changes (4/4, 3/4, 2/4 , 3/4, 4/4, 2/4, 4/4.), and it has 18th note runs and low notes for me.. ( Low G. ;~; )

Envious26 Gosh... I don't remember most of my music from high school or before so I have to go with college. I've played some of the pieces mentioned here. Appalachian Springs (I played that in 9th or 10th grade on trumpet, don't remember it being hard at all.) Folk Song Suite (Not hard, but I played bassoon... so yeah.) Suite in Eb (Don't remember it being hard. I liked it, though!) Children's March (It was in my first year on bassoon so it was a little hard for me.) Korean Folk Song (It was fun!) Gavorkna Fanfare (I actually hated this song. It wasn't hard, it was just loud and annoying.) For pieces that I actually have found hard, well the very first semester I was on bassoon I was give a piece of which had "Pirates" in it's title (it wasn't Pirates of the Caribbean) and the whole piece consisted of 16th notes. I was overwhelmed. o_O I had never seen so much black on a page, even having been a trumpet player. We only sightread that piece, though. It wasn't going to go well for anybody. XD I can't even think of anything else at the moment. i've played children's march and it's pretty fun... though the band i'm in is kinda square when it comes to 6/8...

Aphiatis spud-of-magic Americans We. It's a crazy arrangement with, like,Sousa's Stars and Stripes Forever and stuff like that. The euphonium part was horribly difficult.(It was the same as flutes and clarinets which was odd.) We played that for contest this year, as well as Procession of the Nobles, another difficult piece for euphonium players. For some odd reason our BDs like to torture our euphonium players. dude, i'm a euphonium player and we played procession of the nobles... still can't get the last bar of it, but i got the two bars above it.... it's was fun

For me it was probably Pineapple Poll (Insane runs at the beginning) or a Piece called Gloriosa which is I believe 22 minutes long, and at least for a few instruments, I know at least Euphonium and Trombone, it switch clefs a few times in song

I have to say Yiddish Dances by Adam Gorb is the hardest I've played so far. I died playing it for hours at District Band this year.

Hard decision, The two hardest pieces I've played are
Lincolnshire Posy - Percy Grainger ~ Most college bands don't even attempt this classic, being one of six freshmen in our top band at our high school, it was a little overwhelming at first, especially because I'm first chair in my section (oboe).
or
Morning Star - David Maslanka ~ The melody itself is a very catchy tune, and there are 32 variations of it throughout the piece. what made this piece very difficult was the constant switch of time signatures. It switches back and forth between 6/8 and 9/8 (with a few 12/8 measures), and then 2/4 and 3/4 for the second page, and changes back to 6/8 and 9/8 which leads into 7/8. Tempo marking is dotted quarter note = 180, and for woodwinds, there are many 8th note runs. This continues for about 10 minutes.

With Heart and Voice. So maybe not the hardest ever, but defiantly the most annoying! it spans the entire range of a flute, and there is an entire page of thirty second notes, and the music dosen't make sens. i can't believe it was written for a high school, those must have been some really well trained teenagers.

They led my lord away. If you don't play it perfectly in tune you will get a 5 (if you don't know what that means you shouldn't be in this guide)

When I was in a string orchestra over a weekend we played this one song and it was sort of in the middle for hardness but every section's timing was different and sounded completely different but it sounded so awesome it is called Gauntley by David something. It is really hard to find and not a lot of people play but it sounds freaking awesome and it so fun to play. One good performance of it is www.youtube.com/watch?v=192LBoBvC2w it I think one of the best. heart
