Gabriel stood and listened partially apprehensively throughout, still with the mentality of "She's a Seraphim" running through his mind. But he had left all of that centuries ago, half of a millennia ago. Whether she was a Seraph from another world, this world, or a Seraphim at all mattered not to him. Yes, it doesn't matter. He sighed. But of course it does. The mere fact that she was of a higher order put him on edge, especially considering he had no reason to trust her save for the overwhelming feeling that she was being completely honest. If she had come for any other reason, I would be dead. Sad, but true. There would be nothing he could do against one such as herself.

"I will ask Kane first if you would be so kind as to wait." Perhaps he did not have anything to fear himself, but the Seraphim had said nothing about Kane not having anything to be afraid of. "I will not be long." Bowing awkwardly, if not poorly, the Fallen turned and swept into the air, ebon wings carrying him swiftly back to the inn and through the still open window.

Without much ceremony Gabriel pulled open the bathroom door and stepped inside. What greeted him was Kane's form blurred slightly by the steam from the shower, though still quite visible despite. Without allowing her even a surprised outburst, he raised his voice to be clearly heard over the fall of the water.

"We have a visitor." We? "She claims her name is Rei, and that she has come to see you. All I know for sure of is that she is a Seraphim, and that she is now waiting not too far from here for your approval to enter." He waited then, valiantly attempting not to notice Kane's body and instead looking at the fuzzy outline of her head.

Oh but she is beautiful, isn't she?
PostPosted: Thu Jan 01, 2009 10:42 pm

Before she could protest the invasion of her privacy, he spoke and the fact she was bare was forgotten. It wasn't that she was naked that truly upset her- he had seen enough of her over the last few days and she had so little modesty that it wasn't a large ordeal. Kane had retreated to the shower not just to clean but to escape the fallen and all the muddled feelings he brought about, so it was this that made the anger rise in her chest and throat before it dissipated. Rei was one of the few people that presented a larger, more overwhelming sense of frustration than Gabriel at this moment. In that respect, he was lucky.

"Goddamnit. I should have known after that dream she would come. I hope she had enough sense not to drag Ashley along," Kane stated irately, twisting the water's handle and pushing open the door. Slender, dark wings pressed against her back as she reached around him for a towel, unperturbed by the proximity and lack of clothing. She continued to rant as she wrapped the cloth around her waist, large droplets dripping and rolling off slick black locks and ebony feathers. "Standing out there waiting for me to approve? What the hell is she thinking? To hell with manners, I have angels on my a** and demons at my back and she is worried about... none of our righteous persecutors have come running to her, have they? I forgot she's a bloody seraphim- by the gods, why don't we wave some flags and set off some explosions to let everyone know where we are?"

Still holding the woven rich brown to her, she stalked out of the bathroom and towards the window. At first there seemed to be nothing amiss- her hostility and agitation was almost (if not totally) predictable. As she took one of her last steps towards the open portal to the outside, a single feather fell. It was impossible to tell from which wing it came, although the dark angel knew it was omen. She did not shed- and even if she did, it would be abnormal with such newly changed limbs. Nothing was visibly noticed or commented on before she leaned out and bellowed to the celestial below.

"REI! HURRY UP AND GET INSIDE!" Well, that was certainly formal and respectful. Nonetheless, the divine creature in question quickly obliged, appearing in a burst of radiant sunshine right beside her ornery hostess. It was a strange sight- a demure, soft spoken, patient, calming presence that glowed a comforting golden next to Kane. It was no surprise that the two were not the best of friends- while they fought for the same side and basic principles, they appeared to have nothing in common. Their temperments were even more at odds than their appearance; at least their skin tones seemed to be roughly the same.

Don't stare, don't stare, don't stare.

You're staring.

The fact that he was staring did not help much, though he made sure to do so discretely. She was, in fact, beautiful, and the Fallen could not have helped noticing it if he had had his eyes shut. A mysterious knot in his stomach tightened as she drew close, his breath catching though outward appearance remaining unchanged. Had he ever had such thoughts before, or was this simply another side effect of changing? As she passed by him finally - time had seemed to slow to a crawl for those few seconds - he let out a breath and ran his fingers through his hair. Beautiful she was indeed.

Gabriel followed quietly, standing two yards behind Kane as she reached the window. After her inconspicuous yell and the subsequent burst of light that announced Rei's arrival, all he could do was blink and stare, this time at the two of them in contrast. Kane appeared to be incredibly dark and foreboding, the obvious slightly foul mood adding splendidly. Next to her, Rei was a beacon of light and warmth, emanating everything right and just in the world. Calm and serenity flowed from one, ill-temper and impatience from the other. Truly, these two were as mismatched as two ever could be. The only male in the room could not suppress a small smirk at the sight.

Letting his tense muscles relax, the Fallen now only wished that Kane would put on some proper clothes. Of course, he would not say as much for two reasons. For one, I will probably get snapped at if I do. Secondly . . . My goodness but she is beautiful. He wondered for a moment which reason was more prevalent.

"Could either of you use something to eat?" he inquired, figuring that he might as well put one of his only skills to use. That, and he didn't think he could resist his wandering eyes much longer. "I can prepare whatever you might like." The statement was split between them, his eyes intentionally traveling from one face to the other, though lingering a moment longer on each pass on Kane's.

Pretty, pretty girls. Which of them would you rather?

Rei took a few steps towards Gabriel, silky curls bouncing slightly as she shuffled forward. The pristine fabric pooled around her feet as she paused in front of the fallen, one heel raised off the floor as she stood poised. Brilliant eyes swirled, the sunset of her irises shining as if they weren't just an imitation of the real star. Now that she was a mere foot away he could see the deep crimson tint meld into black and the brilliant white-gold ring at the outermost edge. Her skin was like liquid porcelain, smooth and flawless. Kane's would have been the same were she not always getting into fights and took care of herself at least part of the time.

"Anything vegetarian would be lovely." The swirling enigmatic irises seemed to penetrate his own in their caring stare, as if the patient smile that never left her lips was now directed at the soul she saw within. She didn't touch him purposefully, for she feared her touch might actually injure him. Some were susceptible to the cleansing aura she had about her and any tactile connection could painfully chase away the darkness, even if it was not desired.

Kane sighed, her shoulders sinking as she rubbed a temple and then walked past the pair to her dresser. It was, fortunately, behind the male's back and allowed her to dress without any notable audience. As she dropped the towel and started to pull on a pair of fitted slacks and a tank top, she spoke with some resignation in her voice. "I don't suppose I have to even ask why you came? I told you to not concern yourself with me and watch after my sister, didn't I? I didn't help keep her hands clean for you to chase after me trying to save my soul or some bullshit."

"Your dreaming is not safe. If he can..." Rei started, her voice unnerving pleasant. She was both used to the dark angel's general disposition and near impossible to anger or agitate.

Hurriedly the raven-haired woman cut in, not willing to let more details be divulged to Gabriel. "Malik is my goddamn business, no one else's! How do you think it helps things to have a blasted Seraphim coming to visit me? It's not helping me keep under the radar."

"There is more at stake than your salvation my dear." Rei's eyes finally moved from the fallen's to look over his shoulder at the female in question. Despite the hostile, curt words she received, she still didn't seem even slightly exasperated. "I would have cleansed you if you had asked..."

"I didn't ask, it was done by force!"

"It was for the best... but I know how alluring his anger is to you. You are in danger of being entranced by his ire- his presence is already causing an effect past this man's influence. Whoever cleansed you is in danger as well as the celestials of this world, not just the ones chasing you."

Gabriel said nothing, only nodded and turned on the spot towards the kitchen without any other ceremony. Not a glance was spared for Kane, his eyes all on the door, staring straight ahead and inward.

When Rei had seemed to peer inside of him, something unnerving had occurred. His own eyes had fluttered from bright blue to soft amethyst into a vivid crimson, then back again several times too fast for any normal eye to discern the changes. After the third switch they flashed abruptly to their original red, though a much deeper and sinister hue. Ruby orbs glinted a malicious light, all but killing their target with glares. Inside of the Fallen's head screams were erupting, some angry, some pained, some sorrowful. Yet they were all dim compared to the one crystal clear voice that bellowed curses and flayed its tongue at the Seraphim in front of him.

RIP, TEAR, BLEED, TORTURE, SCREAM! So soft her skin, so tasty a treat. Break her slowly, lick her bloody tears from those beautiful pale cheeks. Go now; NOW! Let me out. OUT! You'll see. We can cause her pain, such joyful pain. A symphony of agony the likes of which you have never known. WEAK! That's what you are, just a weakling. You need me. She'll bring more. Oh, she will. Bring more of them to hunt you, bleed you, kill you. They'll sever your wings before anything else; they'll let you flop around like a fish on land before they end it. They'll kill you; let me kill them. Kill her. Just reach out and let me--

It had taken every ounce of self he had to simply turn and walk into the kitchen, grabbing a head of lettuce and thrusting through it furiously with the butcher's knife. Gabriel's eyes still blazed with the Demon behind them, but he pushed it down, as surely as he pushed the knife through the lettuce. Down. Down. Down. Down . . . And through his finger. Swearing silently, he lifted the bleeding digit only to find stitches of darkness sewing it together in a matter of seconds to make it look as if nothing had happened only seconds after. If marveling his fixed appendage had taken his mind momentarily from his other self, it came back in double force thereafter.

KILL! That blood should be hers, HERS! Take it all, spread it across the walls. Flay her until there's nothing left. Use her skin as furnishing. Make her sing you screams, such lovely screams, such tasty, lovely thi--

"No." he said aloud, not noticing it until he was halfway through a cucumber. The Fallen shook his head and threw together what he had in a sloppy mass, not bothering with ceremony as he topped it with a vinegar and oil dressing. Nothing but a normal salad. I hope that will do for breakfast. Lunch. Whatever.

KILL H--

No. Shut up.

"I haven't asked the question yet," Rei said to Gabriel, although he was unaware of the unspoken question hovering in the air. Serenity still ebbed off her in quiet waves, undeterred by the agitated buoys that were her companions. Gentle, forgiving, infinitely compassionate eyes had not wavered at the sight of his affliction If anything, they seemed to soften with understanding and affection as if she were regarding a wayward son and not some poor lost soul she had just met.

"He's right, though. No. I'm not coming with you. I'll affect Ashley too much and Rael and I aren't exactly kindred spirits." She gave Gabriel a curious look as if asking what in the world was wrong with him as she continued to try to dismiss her angelic companion and all the assistance that had been offered.

"Rael is my lover first and demon second. He will provide help if only out of love for me. You know you are in danger here! I implore you! Consider who will be laid to waste here simply for convenience. Malik brings the darkness, to which you are both turning."

Kane then did something completely out of character. She stood squarely in front of the purely divine being that exuded light from every pore and looked... congenial. Diplomatic even. It was as if some bizarre body snatching fiend had suddenly infested the grouchy woman and was making her appear pleasant. Even her voice was smoother, although it could not entirely mask her gruff undertone. "Rei, leaving now will only delay the inevitable. If you want to help, help Gabriel."

Well, she was polite... except the volunteering the only man in the room for something he hadn't agreed to. The placid smile didn't look completely foreign and strange on Kane. Once she had been that way- content. It was not something she remembered or even desired to go back to. There was something more honest about getting angry, letting herself grin mischievously, make sarcastic remarks, even swear. It was more... genuine to her now. The face she made now that was so at ease and tranquil belonged to Ashley.

Trying in vain to arrange the two salads in a more eye-pleasing manner with a fork before simply giving up with a frustrated snort, the Fallen trudged back into the room, all the while with that voice screaming in the back of his head. At the moment it sounded much like a dying heifer stuck in a sealed up well. The noise was there and brain-wracking, but unintelligible. In the end it just hurt his head even more than when the words were coherent.

Placing the bowls into the hands of each of the women, he stood there for a moment, looking from Rei to Kane and back again, then back again for good measure. For a long minute he looked at her, eyes inside of her own. Ruby retinas burned with an invisible rage that was not his own, itching to emerge and gouge out what beautiful, tasty eyes they saw. Stab and bleed and blood and delicious. Twist and pull and--

He shook his head, closing his eyes and trying to pass of the sudden shiver that passed down his spine as a small stretch. The Fallen sat down at a chair nearby, looking innocently and curiously at the other two.

Damn you! Go away. Why the Hell are you even THERE?

I am the you that you should be. I will be you, soon, and you, me.

"I think at this point I am only a hindrance to, not a help," she said to Kane before turning towards Gabriel and accepting the salad. "Thank you." She nodded to the dark angel who sighed, rolled her eyes, and followed her towards the table. Kane sat next to Gabriel and Rei across. Even their eating style was diametrically opposed; one delicately scooped and the other stabbed efficiently and purposefully. While one might expect a child of the light to find the differences disturbing, only an amused and affectionate smile tugged at the benevolent creature's lips.

"Are you all right?" Kane was staring at him now that she was done eating; Rei was still gingerly coaxing lettuce on her fork. The warm air in the studio was starting to dry her hair. Some of the inky blackness was still plastered to her neck, but other strands gently curled down her shoulder and swayed with movement. Dark eyes focused in concern, the violet he knew to be their true color concealed under the mirage.

Is she safe here? The voice carried through the air like a sweet melody although the Seraphim's mouth did not move. She continued to eat, her eyes intentionally on Kane so as not to cause too much of a reaction. From the lack of response from the other woman, it was safe to assume that the fallen was the only one could hear it. My husband is a demon and from experience I can tell you they don't play well together. If you fear for her, I can take her away. It may buy you some time and safety from Malik for a while.

"I'm fine." Of course he was. How in the world could a deranged voice that did not belong to you that was screaming in your head be construed as anything other than fine? After all, it was not that bad; it only felt like he was going completely insane and a person not himself was slowly taking over his mind. Fine. Of course.

When the melodious voice penetrated his skull amidst the howling, all sound ceased for a fraction of a second. For that moment in time, everything seemed light and at peace. The sound of Rei's speech made everything feel as if it were just a bad dream. Malik was not really coming to kill him. There really was no voice in his head yelling obscenities and obscurities constantly. He was not being taken over. No, there was just this pleasant moment where everything was okay.

And then Gabriel's skull split.

A screech the likes of which had never been heard tore from that voice in his head, all the animosity it could muster aimed at the cause of its discomfort: Rei and her voice. Before the Fallen even had a chance to respond the bellow made him see stars. Of course, only he could hear it, or so he thought. In reality it had been made with such force that Rei would have heard and felt it loud and clear, perhaps even more amplified. In the scream dwelt everything the voice stood for and everything it wanted. Greed, lust, power, hatred, dominance. But at the bottom line it was just death. Bloodlust.

With a head spinning and throbbing with pain beyond pain, Gabriel stood and took an unsteady bow, hiding a wince by facing the floor.

"I will return shortly. I need a breath of fresh air, I think." And with that, he turned on the spot and was gone in a plume of black fire, very similar to what Kane's brother had done. In truth the Fallen had no idea what he had done; it was the voice that had done it and commanded it. Nevertheless, he was gone, and whisking through time and space faster than he could blink.

And then he was on the ground, vomiting on one of many patches of burnt grass. It took a moment for the bile to finish welling up and out, but after a long moment he was able to look around. The familiar clearing, once not so scorched, made him wonder why it had been here that he had traveled. Here that he had no idea the location of exactly. Here where Kane and he had first met mid-chase. Pitiful stumps of smoking trees and the ashes of thousands of burned leaves littered the once semi-green forest floor. Here where the voice had finally abated.

Or has it?

Kane's brows furrowed together in thought and concern, red swirling through the depths of the brown mirage. Soon the muddy hue had bled through until it was a brilliant burgundy, their gaze unwavering in staring at the vacant part of space. She was worried. So distracted was she that she jumped slightly as Rei reached forward and clasped her arm gently.

"You can not battle both his demons and your own," she urged gently. She too was concerned about the fallen, but she saw no good out of keeping two people struggling with a state of being together. They were both so unstable, so potentially volatile, that all the seraphim could imagine was them dragging one another further and further into madness.

"What did you do?" All traces of the chocolate hue had dissipated, brilliant crimson eyes turning towards the angel. Her voice was unnervingly calm and purposefully kept from being accusing. As agitated as she was, Kane knew that her friend would never knowingly cause another distress and it was about as worthwhile to be truly angry with the divine being as with the light itself; unproductive and stupid.

"I merely asked him a question. He is torn and my presence only tears him further asunder. You should part ways- not forever, but until at least he has a grasp of himself. It would be hypocritical and judgmental for me to say that no good could come of a relationship with a demon, but not even he knows how deeply he will be consumed. The man you know may disappear entirely, all traces of him twisted and into another creature entirely. It is not safe- he has little control and with Malik's arrival you may have little control. Nothing good will come of such an event."

"I'm not leaving. I can handle Malik and I am sure Gabriel will be fine once he has space. The entire reason I am letting him stay here is to help him control his darker aspects." She moved her opposite hand to remove Rei's from her arm when the light shot through her. In truth, the seraphim had kept the magic inside of her purposefully withdrawn, but now it shot through the dark angel purposefully. It was not painful but it was also not pleasant, causing Kane to recoil and repress the urge to hiss. Dark tendrils had flared before being repressed, however Rei had done what she had set out to accomplish.

Large black wings extended out of the other's back, their color slick and shiny, appearing as feathered pools of oil that glimmered in the dim light of the morning's rays. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" She thundered, even though she knew the the answer. Another singular plume fell towards to the floor, a silent omen of unspoken influences.

"Tell me that you don't have feelings for them. Tell me you no longer hold any love for Malik in your heart and that were Gabriel to turn on you or leave that you'd feel no emotional strain, no threat to your stability. Tell me that you are free of them, both of them." Sunset eyes looked to the other. They both knew the answer that was coming, but the angel felt compelled to ask what needed to be heard aloud. All her shimmering splendor meant nothing to the other, neither did her status: it was the ability to pierce through situations with wisdom that earned Rei respect in Kane's eyes. It was moments like these.

It had taken a good few minutes before he had assumed a sitting position, propped up against a tree taking deep breaths. Behind closed eyes red flashed menacingly, a prelude to the storm. It had taken every ounce of discipline up to the point where he had left Kane's apartment to suppress the voices from becoming his own. Now, however, he was tired, and wanted nothing more than to lay back and sleep. Rest would not come to a restless mind, however.

No time to rest, dear Gabriel. There is work to be done.

In an instant a searing pain the likes of which he had never known seemed to burst from every pore in his body. His spine felt like it would snap as it jolted into an arch. An unearthly howl penetrated the air from a voice that did not belong to him, yet came from his lips undoubtedly. Already feral-looking claws and fangs elongated, eyes snapping open to reveal deep bloody retinas, looking all the larger due to the slit of a pupil at the center.

Somehow, several excruciatingly long moments later, the Fallen was on his feet. Yet they were not his feet any longer. No, his body was not his own. In fact, if he was not mistaken, Gabriel had become the voice in his own head. The voice in the voice's head. Thinking about it too much made his head spin, so he tried to close his eyes and shake his head. The head would not move however, and the eyes remained resolutely open.

"Decent. At the very least you're a useable specimen. For now you will do, until I can find a more suitable host."

'That's not my voice . . . This is my voice, but I'm not speaking. Why can't I move?' Confusion reigned in the darkness that was Gabriel's own mind.

"Oh, that is because it is my voice that commands now. Much more tolerable than your ineloquent screeches." Dark spectres spread behind him now, leathery spiked wings devoid of all plumage, spreading to a previously unknown length. "Ah, it feels good to stretch after so long. Not too long though. Not too long."

Unbidden a prayer touched the Fallen's proverbial lips, unspoken and undefined. For the duration all he could feel was the burning of a white hot piece of metal on a chest that no longer belonged to him.

Kane could not feel it so far away. As inherently powerful as Rei believed her to be, she was largely untrained and unskilled in her magical abilities. Only whispering darkness guided her and that was both malicious and consuming. The seraphim was certain that at this distance the dark angel felt nothing but the discomfort of having ever-changing wings hanging limply to the floor and the sting if residual light.

The raven-haired beauty reacted, but it was a mere few moments too late. She had seen the glimmer in the angel's eyes as lips parted in a silent, sad song. As soon as the melody was on the air, sweet pitch drifting on an unseen breeze delicately, droplets and wisps of brilliance coalesced around Kane. The once-demon was quickly contained in the strange protective coating, a thick crystallized layer of glistening radiance as golden as the sun over her form. She was frozen in time and space. While at the moment the magic was called forth she had seemed alarmed, under the crystalline shield her eyes were closed peacefully as if she were merely wandering in her sleep.

"I am sorry, my dear," Rei whispered before a flash carried her out of the room and before the demon Gabriel had become. Nothing about her appearance had changed. No armor had been summoned in the instantaneous transit and no weapons manifested in her hands. To one that was none the wiser she was unarmed and defenseless, rolling waves of amber rippling across the ground where her robe and feet touched it. The four wings (not six that other worlds had) spread behind her, easing themselves open in the empty space.

"Come no farther." Blinding light consumed her before spreading into a wall behind the tips of her wings and curling around. It was purposefully protective of whatever might be approaching- protecting them from him and him from them. The barrier throbbed with the power of her unwavering faith, pure and simple. Rei was channeling herself now, almost tangible emotions of love and devotion emanating effortlessly. This woman was nothing like Kane; not even the smallest speck of darkness infected her. It was not just her appearance that was unblemished and flawless but the nature of her being.

Her words were vague, but purposefully so. Rei might be adverse to violence but she was not about to allow a demon to slaughter angels for no reason other than bloodshed nor for them to die meaninglessly. She was soft but she was not weak.

The ecstatic look on the Demon's face faded as the light spread, his gaze forced down to view the source of the problem. A Seraphim. He had never been particularly familiar with nor interested in learning about the hierarchy of Angels, but this one he knew, though of her powers he knew little. The feel of the aura around them caused a musing that she must be strong; she must be, at least in some areas. But what other way to find out than to test?

Without even the slightest change of expression, Gabriel's Demon unleashed a stream of fire that snaked towards Rei at a blinding speed, simply appearing in front of him and firing forward. May as well start small. This 'small' could have liquified diamond and incinerated a building just by being within a few yards. The ground underneath and around the flame immediately burst into a crackling blaze, spreading rapidly and catching a few small shrubs afire. Before even half a second had passed a hand raised to the barrier, letting out a blast of pure shadow to test the resilience. The point was to see how much the Angel could handle at once, and that was not the end. Finally with his other hand raised behind the stream of fire, a single digit pointed at the center of Rei's chest and shot an inky black beam piercing directly through the fires just before they reached her. If his timing was correct, she would get all three nearly at the same time.

Excitement brimmed at the edge of his mind, suppressed but still lingering. What had he been before? No memory remained of the Demon he had been, but the possibilities seemed endless. That much released in a few seconds and he felt nothing in the way of fatigue. Perhaps the equivalent of their Seraphim? Perhaps higher? There was only one way to find out.

Hubris will be your downfall, a voice called from the back of his mind. An ear twitched in agitation. Is that what I sounded like? You? I? Bah. Confusing wretch. I'll deal with you later after I'm finished with these-

And then the headache. The headache of all headaches. Outwardly the Demon's appearance did not change save for the slightest twitch of his lips. That idiot still thinks this body is his. Mine? Yours? His? Bah. The whole thing was a little too troublesome to think about right then. After we're - I - am finished with this woman and those . . . Angels . . . I'll deal with it. If she doesn't die soon, I'm going to actually have to do some work. He grinned despite the skull-splitting pain.

"Do not trivialize me," the seraphim whispered. Her voice carried on the wind, twisting with the gentle breeze as she looked at him. It was gentle, it was kind, it was inquisitive, and it was forgiving. Even as he struck against her, she refused to let even the shadows of a dark thought pass over her. Only compassion was found in those ever-setting sunsets, their colors blazing in reflection of all the golden splendor of her magics.

Rei's defense was deft, seemingly effortless and flawless in its execution. Were she to try to strike she'd be so untrained that she'd fumble on her first step forward, but she excelled in protection. Gentle ivory curls lifted off her shoulders, softly shimmering like fresh-fallen snow in the light. The danced and twisted with unforseen powers as she extended her hands, palms upward. Writhing darkness that was aimed at her chest was pulled towards the delicate limbs. As it twisted around her digits it shook and shivered before shaking off the inky blackness and bursting into brilliant, dazzling luminescence.

"Do not think that the nature of your birth is sufficient proof you are ready to battle a demon, my dearest angels. Only the most pure- those that have been tempted and turned it away in its entirety will I allow to approach. I will not allow this taint to spread to those ignorant of their vulnerability and the sway it may already hold on them." She addressed the approaching divine figures, but her voice remained controlled, soft, and melodic. Rei was firm but not stern; if they tested her, she would speak with them later.

The wall sprung to life suddenly, sweeping forward in a rush. It surged against the tide of shadow and engulfed it, small portions disappearing as it swallowed its polar opposite whole. The majority of it continued, smothering the flame as it washed like a tidal wave over the demon. If he were strong in his conviction, it would do nothing to hinder his next move, but should he waver the cleansing power could cause the slightest sway. The seraphim had to know- was there still hope of change in the near future or should she summon Kane's twin to whisk the dark angel away to relative safety?

The Demon cocked his head in a way nearly like Gabriel normally did, a look of mild interest blossoming on his features as opposed to the previously set boredom. Well, at least she's not completely inept. My goodness but those Angels before were just . . . Useless. He did not notice the smirk on his own lips. He was having fun. For the longest time all he had to do was sit and wait, watch but not speak; not until recently, anyway. But now he was out and ready for some amusement. This certainly worked for him.

"Let us see how strong your convictions are," he murmured, holding out his own hand as a response to the wave. If parts of it were so easily destroyed by such weak attacks, the rest should crumple pretty easily if I put a bit of effort into it. As the thoughts came, so did the darkness, seeming to come from nowhere and cling to his person. Shadows from the trees surrounding appeared to bend to him, arch from their set path in an attempt to merge with him. It was not a bending of the shadows as much as it was bending light; bending it away from himself. The Demon made himself into a conduit of darkness, turning away his enemy: the light.

As wall of the shining wall met his outstretched hand, already writhing with shadows, "Gabriel" unleashed the stored energy, a wave of darkness errupting from his palm. It was not quite as large as the other, but its pitch black rivaled Rei's for all of its brilliance. The effect was as he had hoped for the most part, punching a hole but at the same time completely negating the effect of his assault. The intention was for it to go through, not break on contact. Win some and lose some. Or tie some, as I see. He did not wish to wait, especially with several waiting Angels to play with.

Quickly summoning the darkness, he fired another blast nearly straight upward, followed right behind by another dark beam identical to the previous fired at the Seraphim. If all went well the wave would punch another hole, allowing the beam to seek its target: the heart of a fluttering Angel just outside of the dome.

"What is more important to you, Seraphim? Your own life, or theirs?" Without waiting he copied his previous attempt on her soul, waves of fire larger than the last followed by a thicker beam of black. We shall see just how unlimited your power is. His breath was beginning to come a bit quicker.
