Yes animals are very expensive..but my dad has a really good paying job and my mom is getting a job soon ( after college ) so we are ok. But other people should look at this to see reality.

We have five dogs, One huge LGD that it takes about 200lbs of dog food to feed him so for feed just for one month is 60 dollars, and then for the smaller dogs 40 lbs of hard dog food is what we feed them, plus soft food, along with vitamins, grooming is about 30 dollars per each of the small dogs once a month. Max the LGD we brush him and tend his nails ourselves. Flea care is about 60 a month. One of the smaller dogs cost us 175, while the LGD was a rescue, one was born here, and the other two were given to me by an aunt. Of course all the extras I am always getting for them. I treat them like they are my children. So roughly it costs a few thousand a year including vet care, meds, and boosters.
But all in all they are worth it and I wouldn't change it, funny thing is we are going to be adopting another LGD soon. Max seems kinda depressed and his breed requires that he has well a partner in crime. But they all earn thier keep here as well.
