*Kero looks at both of them*
Alright...stop it, both of you. I am putting my foot down. Tam, like iot or not, I am going to Divine what happened, and we are going to work through it like the eons old adults we are.
*Opens his eyes flaring wide...grey and piercing...and he sees what happened earlier, after he was deaged...*
I see....so, Tam...let me hazard a guess...you're upset because you called out to the all-ruler and he didn't answer, right? Tam, I don't know if anyone told you this, but the One cannot see into my office, cloaked in dreams and memories as it is...I soundproofed it long ago as well, so the prayers of people TO THEIR GODS could not make it through...simply to save me the trouble of having to deal with Gods who got angry when I cast out some of their priests who had harmed others instead of helped. Without my help, NO PRAYER, even a sung one, can pierce outside my office...until I sung with you, the prayer and spell would not go through. Are you hearing what I am telling you, Tam? You are still beloved by him...very much, in fact...play some music when your throat gets better, and you'll see. The only reason it didn't work is because my power, supreme in my domain, blocked yours. Period.
*Turns to Bez*
And you....rein it in, buster brown. Flaring tempers don't do anyone a lick of good. You want to help Tam, you go and make some tea...or better yet, harry that slowpoke brother of mine so I can brew the medicines for my sira's throat.

Tam glares at him and snorts through her nose, knowing that nothing... absolutely nothing... is hidden from the All Father. He may chose to honor the boundaries someone else has set up, but all prayers to him go forth. She drops her head to her paws and closes her eyes. This was the one thing she had never been able to get through to Kerobian.... that and the fact that he wasn't as independent as he thought he was. Kero always seemed to believe he operated in a vacuum. But when that vacuum was a creation of another, more powerful being, that being could and would pierce it from time to time to keep track on his creation. True the All Father had a habit of setting things in motion and then letting things take their course, but there were some things he did not ignore. And never before in the past, had Talesian been ignored. True the answer had not always been what she had wanted it to be, but she had received one none the less.

*Kero shakes his head*
Um, Tam...hate to break it to you...but in this state, your thoughts are as clear as day to me. The All-Father long ago made an agreement with my master, as we needed his help to set up that barrier. Unless someone he takes a personal interest in is being judged....judged, mind you, and not simple prayers, he honors the boundary we three set up. Trust me in this, Tam, you are still beloved by him. Think on it this way...if you weren't, would he have granted the prayer, even when I sang with you....I have no power over the dead, Sira....souls, yes, but not the dead...I cannot recall a soul to life. So think, Tam...if he answered the prayer the second time, he obviously is still willing to answer you.

The while lion simply lies there, not really ignoring him, but not entirely believing him either. Perhaps because she had offered the ultimate sacrifice, with no thought as to herself, to Bez, or even her children. Now that guilt will live on within her and no matter what anyone says to soften the fact, it will live within her for a very long time.... a sacrifice freely given for the sake of another... and it had been turned down.

*Now Kero simply moves in and pets her gently, motioning for Bez to come in and take over when he hears Emnast arrive with the herbs and other things he needs...and some of the catnip he needs as well*

Tam rests her head on Bez's lap and stares at her children asleep in their pen and sighs deeply, wondering how she'll ever be able to confess what she did to him or them, knowing that one day she'll need to, for guilt such as she bears cannot be hidden forever. Closing her eyes, she finds tears hiding behind the lids. She doesn't want to cry, but they flow forth all the same, Slow twin rivers of silver down her cheeks.

*Kero flicks his mind out to Bez, obscuring Tam from the conversation*
Ask her what's wrong, Bez...I think it'll be best if she tells you...and she'll feel much better...ask, and don't let her prevaricate you.
*Goes into the other room to make medicines*

Bez nods and pulls the lioness close. "Ai," he whispers in a hoarse voice. "Please... don't hide from me. I... I know all about hiding... and I know what it does to a soul... don't embrace the shadows for my sake... please... what has hurt you so... let me take it away... "
Tam shakes her great head sadly and tries to pull away, but Bez refuses to let her go.
"No... bear with me... once I did you a grave harm.... and you took a blow meant for me... Trust me... I have never ever forgotten that day... of how you, in all innocence walked forth to defend my honor... You could have died for me then... would have died had the blow been even a hair more lethal... surely nothing you have done... or wanted to do could match what I did to you, knowingly... nothing. Come back to me, dulcha... don't turn away." His voice is rough with emotion and shame, longing and fear.
Tam sighs heavily and shakes her head. There was nothing to say, but she could show him why and so she does, sharing with him, not in words but reliving her shame, her pain, her loss. How she had confronted Kero in his ravaging madness, calming him, then taking him home to find to her horror that his namesake had been slain... not merely slain but his soul consumed.... And how she, feeling the anguish of Rhea and her young ones, had done all she could to bring the child back... Then she closes off her thoughts and withdraws back into her miserable cocoon, ashamed to have him even touch her as she was.

*Kero's mind touches Bez*
Do what you need...and what she needs...my power is yours, have you need of it.
*Brings in some of the medicine, and hands Bez the tea, as well as the kettle*
Heat that over the fire, and waft the steam throughout the room...the cup is a quick mix my master taught me...yarrow to bolster immunities, willowbark to kill pain, and a bit of catnip, simply because it will have a calming effect...not enough to impair anything, but it will relieve some of the stress.

Bez stands up and motions for him to follow him outside. He walks some distance from the cave and sits down, troubled. "Kero... I'm not sure how much you remember of this... you were, how can I say this... too young in mind and soul afterward, but tell me... is what she shared true? To the best of your knowledge."

*Kero nods*
That is what I saw, when I gazed at her mind and heart...she is wracked with guilt over it, Bez...she needs release and forgiveness...go back in there, and hug her...kiss her...do whatever it takes, but make her feel like she's worth something again.

Bez sighs heavily and rests his head in his hands. "It hurts that she would even think to leave me, to leave us... but... you know... what she did was... was all Ai... Others before self, it's how he... she... has ever lived his life. Yet I feel so selfish right now... I... I want him only only for myself... is... is it wrong to feel this way?"

No....not at all...but I'm not the one who you need to be talking to...that would be Tam...I have to go and see if my son is awake...*Does just that, strolling into Pasa's room*

Bez sighs heavily and looking up sees Tam walking down toward the garden, seeking out no doubt to tend to the needs of nature. He follows along discretely, waiting until she has finished then easing into view on the path, blocking her way back.
"Dulcha.." he says gently. "We need to talk... or rather I need to talk... you need to listen. Walk with me?" and shifts into panther form sidling up next to her, gently pushing her back towards the garden sanctuary.
**************************************
Pasa is still fast asleep, but his coloring is better. The edges of his skin, around his mouth and eyes, are almost back to their normal deep rich purple. Kerobian looks at him and smiles to himself. Pasa's coloring may be dark, but the brilliant blue of his eyes and the touches of purple about his mouth and eyes, lend him a distinctive air. Something tells him the boy is going to grow up into a rather nice looking young man, someday... barring any more ice cream jags.

*Kero rests his hands on the boy's belly, trying to feel if there is any more chill in his core, or if he is just in an instinctive state of hibernation brought on by cold...if the latter, he's curious as to how long Pasa will be out*
