I can't tell you how much I loved the Abandoned Road theme today. It had my name written all over it. And I'm very pleased with how my picture today came out! I have a favorites section on DA full of photographs and drawings like this and I've wanted to make one for so long, but they always came out horrible. This is the first time I've made one that I think looks good! Also... please tell me this fits the theme. drakokatze Kitten-Tora My arm is feeling much better now thanks to Kai's suggestion. Not a spasm in sight. I'm now just watching my sister-in-law play the very 1st Spyro game while I draw. Thank you for the well wishing~! blaugh glad to hear it ^_^ ack >_< I didn't mean to cause a fuss or anything >_< can't we all just enjoy the event? *hides under the desk* I'm wasn't trying to make anyone feel bad, and I'm sorry if I did. I was just trying to give an unbiased explination of why things wouldn't be fair if they were done the way some people are wanting it done. Since I'm not actually a participant, I can look at both sides of the arguement without automatically taking the side that benifits me more, because I don't really benifit from it in any way other than bringing the hostility levels down some and making the event more peaceful.

romesilk Kai_Chi romesilk The freebie topic thing -- is that something we can do tomorrow as well? (Today has been a very busy day and I barely managed to squeeze in drawing!) Another theme I simply could not resist -- uniforms! Admittedly these are a bit WTFy, I just started sketching and kept going. I'm so glad that you never have to actually think about other peoples' time considerations in your life. It must be so convenient to be able to live in such a way that your schedule is the only one of any importance, and all others must twist and turn to fit you. I'm beginning to wonder if the 100-day art challenge isn't just some sort of a game of power whereby you get to assert control over a group of people. If it were about the actual completion of art or the artists, after all, you wouldn't need to be nearly so ridiculous as to push EST on the whole of the world. Ere I am, J.H. I know your upset about not being able to participate yesterday, but I found some of your comments regarding a power trip a bit extravagent. I said that it was a one day thing, because it was. I chose to hold that challenge bonus on the weekend specifically to accomodate more people. I knew it wouldn't convinience everyone, but I cannot make it convinient for everyone, because everyone has different work hours, life styles, time zones and all that jazz. You've always seemed like a reasonable person to me romesilk, so I'm sure you can understand what I mean when I say that. I'm aware that the time zone issue is trouble for others. But really no matter what time zone I pick it will always be unconvinient to others, so long as its not their time zone. Again, I can't please everyone. Updating post and just hosting the event is still a very time consuming job. And I did pick a time zone that was more convinient for me, your right. Because like you I work rediculously long hours, and have little to no time when I get home to update things. In the goal of trying to be able to keep everything updated, and still be able to sleep and function at work, I made this call. Yes it might be seemed as selfish, but like I said, I knew from the start I could not make everyone happy. So I took a decision that would make the contest at least functional. I am sorry there was no warning for the special challenge, this was not something I thoughed necessairy. The goal of the challenge bonus was to give the members a nice little opportunity to gain a little more gold, and add a little more excitment to the event. Because I saw that many people had droped out, and figured this could be an opportunity to offer the people who have managed to stick to it so far, more. Please do not take this as something intended to punish anyone. That is compleatly not the case. I said that this challenge was a one day thing, but I did keep in mind that maybe we could do another mini challenge like this again later on in the contest. And if you'd like a warning for the future mini event we have (if we do) then I can accomodate this request. It always depends on how many members are left, because my funds are not infinite and I do need to pay up what I promise at the end of the event. So I didn't want to say anything to anyone because I don't want to make promises I'm not sure if I can keep. It all depends on how many members are still participating in the next couple of week, to depend on weither or not we can offer up another little special challenge like this or not.

I'm sure it could be lots of fun if you joined! Hope to see you in the future! Plus include a bonus beside your theme so we know you compleated the theme today and are intitled to the extra give a way at the end of the event. : ) Huh? @Kai_Chi: Thank you, you're a very reasonable person under the circumstances, and honestly, it makes a world of difference to know how much you listen (particularly in light of how many sticks there are in the mud! *laugh*), so I do apologize for being somewhat... dramatic in my initial response, to make an understatement for a change. wink Here's my starfish interpretation -- initially I wanted to do a mermaid with starfish on her boobs, but then I thought, what if the mermaid IS the starfish??  http://i.imgur.com/1UOJf.jpgPainter kind of killed the jpeg compression; I didn't want to go through the bother of opening up Photoshop tonight and now I kind of wish I had! ^^;;;;

Thirty minutes is the minimum, not the maximum! I always try to put 45 minutes at bare minimum, and more often an hour and a half to two hours.

II Little China DoLL II Siafoam drakokatze Siafoam @ drako: To make it more fair you and kai could allow people who were not able to draw the freebies on that particular day, to do it another day. I really wanted to participate as well but couldn't since Im out of state. So now it isn't fair if you are giving random bonuses to people because they speak a little louder than others. I haven't griped about having no computer access for the next few weekends to get special priveledges like other who have on the first page. I think the rules either need to be set in stone with no exceptions or you have to be willing to make acceptions for everyone. I just made the suggestion, I actually have no power over how this is run ^^;; *is just helping* and i'm not giving random bonuses, i just gave up my own personal bonus crying I'd give it to you, too, except I only had the one to give :/ I can pass this along to kai, though. didn't mean to cause trouble >_< The thing im saying is that you shouldn't have to give your bonus at all. The rules should just be equal for everyone or then everyone is entitled to grey area.

Everyone gets the equal amount of 24 hours notifier of what the next day's theme will be.
Today is like, what, the fifteenth day? =/ You can't ******** tell me you haven't gotten used to the 100 day event scheduling. Drakokatze, you shouldn't feel responsible for anything... and should not give what you deserve to someone who decided to read and submit at the last minute.
Each day IS a surprise. Those who caught the "easter egg" gets to enjoy it, and those who don't, well they missed out. All the themes are one-day only. The freebie thread is PART of a theme that you can choose. =/ Did someone miss the memo there?
Honestly, I have the best advantage in terms of timezone, at least that's how I feel. I get to know the next day's event at 12:30pm and my deadline is not until noon of the following day.
For those in PST, the timezone we are having a "conflict" on, is that you ALSO get to know on the same day your entry is due on. You get to know at 8:30pm... and it's not due until the next day's 8pm. You take the time to just bookmark the thread, click, read, and sleep on it. Think about it at work, at school, and then come back from whatever to sit down and draw it.
There should be NO excuse nor whining whatsoever.
This event is perfectly perfect the way it is.
The only reason anyone has anything to whine about is because they couldn't keep up with the fallen sand of time. if you can't outrun the quicksand, you'll just sink. Don't try to drag anyone else down. It ain't cool and it makes you look like a fool.

I don't know why you are cussing at me when my main point is that the rules should be equal for everyone which means that the freebie thread was fine... stare

I had no right to yell at you like that >: so sorry I reserve the right to rant when I think things are unfair; life is inherently unfair, yes, but I have a slightly different view of what our responsibilities are in light of that fact. It has been said all men are created equal, but the truth of the matter is, humans are not created equal. Some are born blind, some poor, some rich, some hale and healthy. I think the most proper interpretation of those words is that we should, if it is at all in our power, endeavor to make things more equal for all, because no one's worth as an individual is inherently greater or lesser than anyone else's. I feel in general the points I make are reasonable and right in the grander scheme of things; I care very little for the small divisions into which people fall or put themselves, as they are inherently discriminatory when not accounted for in as fair a manner as is possible. Equality, as I interpret it, does not mean that every person is held to exactly the same standards, but that from each according to his ability, to each according to his need.
