tam hugs him back and crawls out of the dirt...... he looks at his furs and sighs... i'm filthy too... he says with a weak laugh... maybe i'm the one who needs an ice bath... and moving away from kero he gives himself a serious shaking... dirt and leaf mold is flying everywhere...

tam laughs giving himself a shake, showering them both again.... not bad... why haven't ye done this before... we sure could have used a good ashower or two in the past... like after that mudslide we got caught in or aftger that time we crossed the shale bed.....

Just figured it out...and you need a downward thrust in the current...or it'll erode itself...
*Later that night, they come to another inn...and Kero and Tam set up to play...until the innkeeper says that there are no pets allowed...causing Kero to angrily mutter under his breath...*

tam merely turns heel and walks out the door with his hand on kero's head... he leads him back into the forest and stops once they are under the trees and away from the sight of others....
kerobian, i understand yer anger, truly i do... says tam sitting down beside the young lion... he hugs him and then rests his head on the lion's shoulder...
after a time he looks up and sighs once more... come we need to set up camp and then we need to talk... no... i'm not going to punish you... not this time... but there are things you need to know... ok... so please... just listen when we do, alright... and then if ye hae any questions, i'll do my best to answer them, ok?

tam picks up a stick and begins peeling away it's bark... then he finds another that looks vaguely similar until ye begin to peel the bark away... the the wood beneath glows white like a rich cream below it's surface...
he holds them up to kerobian and smiles grimly... before i started they were much alike... right?
he tosses them onto the fire... as we have traveled... i wonder... how many lion cubs have ye seen... other than hopian... none... we're not in a region of the world where lion's are native... and truth is... iffin we did see one... i'm afraid you'd be sadly disappointed... for you see, kero... yer like that second stick... something special underneath...
for when most people look at you, all they see is the bark... they don't see what lies inside... they see a stick... a cat... not a lion because they don't know what a lion is and certainly not a d. miner cub... not a creature which can think for itself... not a someone... but a something... when they look at ye they see ye as they would see a cow... or a chicken... or some other dumb animal and sad as that may be... it is probably for the best... i wish it were otherwise... but it is true...
because when people come face to face with something they don't know or understand... and it challenges their perceptions of what is real in their eyes... they become frightened... and frightened people do som mighty scary things... i had a friend burned alive once because he was different... because he has scales instead of skin... and there wasn't a single damn thing i could do about it, not without dying myself...
and the trouble is... these aren't bad people i'm talking about... these are good decent people... but people who have been scared past all reason... and they have struck out against that fear...

tam's gaze narrows a bit with suspicion as the girl tenders her invitation.... why would he send ye into the woods to follow and unknown stranger and his strange weird beastie... yer missin seems suspect my dear... he says when she is done....

*The girl blushes...and confesses that there is no entertainment at her father's inn that night...and that they desperately need the entertainment to bring in money...as the market day is tomorrow...her father is prepared to offer free room and board in exchange for entertainment...*
