Does Your Family Know about Your Death Note/L Fetish?

I am an underground anime lover, because my parents think that anime is childish and that I need to grow up.

They also think that anime is soft-core porn in disguise.

My dad thinks I shouldn't have an obsession with something Japanese because it's unpatriotic or some nonsense like that (I should have an obsession with American history or something maybe).

Yeah, bring up the issue of vampires, too, and they'll get nitpicky about it. Because they're like "vampires are unholy dead creatures" and etc. Dad explains Twilight like this: "I'm a vampire and now I will suck this chick's blood while I bang her."

Well, my dad is one of those padres that are all 'If it's animated, it's either for kids or younger teens.' Which I totally find hilarious, because he not only watches Miyazaki movies with me, but he absolutely adores them~! ... but I digress. I've never had to hide my L, or, for that matter, my Death Note obsession, 'cause my Mom even watched it conmigo~! Of course, my mom thought it was a little odd when I cried for over an hour when both L AND Raito died, but other than that, she was fine w/ it... The way she saw it, was that she likened it to Law & Order, but with that whole 'supernatural' layer to it. I mean, think about it: Don't ALL, or at the least, MOST cop shows have at least one arc where there's a serial killer? The fact that I view Death Note as the psycological thriller of the anime world is was won my mom over, and she absolutely LOVED it!! So, the only advice I have for anyone who's 'rents are completely stupid about anime/other cultures/awesome entertainment, is just to find one that is the same genre that said parental either enjoys to watch, or absolutely loves, and just set them down, & watch a few epsiodes with them. I guarantee it works~! BTW, does anyone know a good series with some sort of Yakuza involvement? I've been trying for EVER to find one, 'cause my Dad's OBSESSED with The Sopranos... sweatdrop

my mom is...well, she doesn't care about my manga obsession, but she disapproves of Death Note and anime in general. my dad told her about it (i think he has a skewed view on it though) and when she found out i had a Death Note i brought to school she REALLY flipped. =___= i have to read the books in secret, like porn! DX

heart lol no one knows that i have the obsession of it they think that i just like death note a lot and that my favorite person is L and thats it they don't know that it goes beond that though i have a necklase that has L on it and a death note one and other death note items i even have pictures of L hidden around my room and my name that i use has to do with death note L is the best though heart lol

My friends and i have nicknames you see. Lee is Light, his gf Glow is Misa, and im L. My parents know of my fedish, and they think im cute when I dress as L, and sit like him, and talk like him. My parents love anime and Death Note. I just told them straight-forward and they accepted that. Im so sorry to hear that some parents aren't that accepting of Death Note.. crying

well my parents and most of my friends don't know and i guess they wouldn't mind too much if i did tell them, but they'd probably think i was weird, haha xD I just prefer to keep it to myself. I just have like, one or two friends who I can talk to about anime without thinking I'm a freak >.< I'm cool with that though.

In fact, I had my mom watch an episode or two and she said it was actually good. :3
My dad's a comic book guy, so, he never has a problem.

Only my mom knows about my love a Death Note and L. I've tried to get her to watch the anime, but she hardly has any time. Other than that, no one else knows. It probably doesn't help that I'm a complete loner...

well that is what Twilight is. Some girl obsessing about some loser who walks around all perfect. come on. They dont sparkle. Ecspecially those obsessive idiots biting each other and drinking blood. Great way to spread dieases. I agree with their hate against Twilight.

But I think they are idiots about anime. It's not unpatriotic to watch it. They can provide osme of the best things. American shows are the idiotic ones. Have they seen US TV today?
