Kaito entered the APD with an unusually subdued manner. He had been all over the place since the Kogarashi War, beginning with a hyper-excited appearance and then a distracted, thoughtful state for about a year, and then back to a generally sunny disposition. However, the ending of the battle with Avalanche had him back to the more subdued mannerisms; he did not walk with a spring in his step, and his mouth was curved downward in deep thought, but his expression did not look troubled, which was a pleasant sight for the secretary.
He brought himself to Selina's desk, unaccustomed to working with her specifically but well aware of her famous status as both an idol and an incredible member of the APD. "You wanted my eyes on a case?" His tone betrayed some disbelief but it didn't stem from self-deprecation so much as his slight idol worship of the Detective Rosewater.

Selina smiled warmly at the boy as he approached. โI did. Good morning Kaito.โ She said kindly. Her heart sunk into her chest a little when she saw how solemn the young man was. Although she did not wish to treat him as a child, Selina did subtly scoot over the bowl of candy she usually reserved for herself toward Kaito. There were a whole bunch of chocolates and strawberry flavored candies. โI was doing some paperwork when I discovered a cold case. May I have you look into the matter for me please?โ She asked as she handed Kaito the folder. The details were sparse but the main incident was a reported theft in the market district by a scroll shop owner. The owner, Daisuke Sho, reported the incident two days after he did an inventory count. Once he checked his store cameras he saw two teenage delinquents come in to the store past midnight and steal some blank scrolls. The delinquents were seen heading west from the back entrance, which was the same entrance they used to get into the store, as the recordings show that the door opened naturally.

Kaito selected a strawberry candy after the bowl was moved closer, then focused intently on the folder in front of him. "No forced entry? Does Daisuke employ youth at his shop? I would hate to think this is an inside job," he commented somewhat unclearly with the candy still in his mouth. He hadn't been the store himself but if this was a case that required further investigation then he would change that quickly.
His tone was somewhat suspicious as he asked, "Why is this case cold? No one could ID the suspects?"

"That or Daisuke didn't want to identify the subjects. Sometimes we don't want to admit when we trust the wrong people." Selina said as she perked up a little internally at seeing Kaito take a candy. "It seems as though you already have a good grasp of the situation, so do you mind going to the store owner and requesting that he officially sign the paperwork that we need to close the case?" She asked as she closed the folder. In the folder would be the needed documents to get Mr. Sho to sign.

Obei's feet walked throughout the streets as she carried a dish covered in tin foil. The oni had had a pretty relaxing stay here in Arashi ever since joining. She wore the headband with pride and always appeared in a better mood than she had previously. Her stay in the village was lengthy for the time, as she had even managed to get a place to stay. It was nice, though a bit cramped given her dimensions as a seven foot tall woman. When Obei arrived at the APD, she went through the usual scans, monitors, etc. and soon mentioned Selina by name and was allowed through under supervision.
"Suh-Lee-Nuh" Obei said from the hallway, smiling at the pink haired girl that had invited her to the storm village before her eyes trailed down to the boy nearby. She ducked underneath the door frame and placed the dish on the desk as the sweet scent of dough and sweets shot up from the foil. The oni would then awkwardly shuffle so that she was out of the way of the two.

Kaito hummed thoughtfully at the suggestion that Sho was uncomfortable admitting he had made a bad judgement in character. It was an interesting proposition. He nodded and accepted the folder at her request but there was a questioning lilt to his head as he examined her. This seemed pretty open and shut for a cold case. He opened his mouth to say as much, but a giant woman appeared and placed something sweet and mysterious on her desk. Kaito, a lover of sweets, was immediately intrigued, but he wanted to do as his superior officer asked.
"Save me one," he joked with a pleased look in his eyes as he used an instant movement technique to leave the building quickly.
Selina clapped her hands and smiled like a school girl as Obei brought in her puffed pastries. "My hero!" She said as she swooned over the delicious aroma the sugary sweets provided. However, it was at that moment that she recalled that Kaito was still with them, and with a flustered smile she nodded. "I'll try." She said as the boy left. Once he did Selina up from her chair and gave Obei a hug, twirling the massive woman as she did. Various cabinets and chairs were knocked away as Selina gently put her friend back down. "Have you gotten lighter Obei? That seemed easier than last time." She asked to make conversation. There were some disgruntled sighs from the other people in the office, but they came to expect such a thing would occur when Selina's friend came in. That was one of the reasons why watchful eyes rested on Obei; not because of her, but because of Selina's eventual reaction to her.

Feeling Selina's arms around her brought Obei so much joy. She couldn't help but crack a toothy smile while being handled around with a stain of crimson on her pale cheeks. It was one of her secret thrills was being lifted. It was ironic, a massive person who could lift walls and buildings loving the feeling of being picked up herself. When Selina mercifully put her down, Obei let her hand come down to gently pat the girl's head. "Obei on diet. Try watch what eat." she attempted to joke. "Obei try bake again. Make treats for Suh-Lee-Nuh. These better than last ones." The after-mentioned last batch had burned in the oven and nearly got thrown out of her baking class.

"I still think you were too hard on yourself for the last batch. They were still amazing!" She said, despite knowing that only half of the last batch were edible by any metric of the word. She still delighted in eating them, however, since each one she stomach brought a smile to her friend's face. "I was actually wondering if you wanted to go out for drinks today? There's one bar in particular that I was really interested in by the Gust district." She said. Before Obei could respond Selina already unveiled one of the cinnamon buns and took a delightful bite. The pastry was so light and delicious that she nearly cried. "Perfection!" She squeaked.

Drinks? That sounded nice. Obei knew very little of what there was to eat or drink in the village and was picky about her sake being the best in the village. So maybe branching out a bit would help her get to know some of the people here better. Her thoughts were interrupted as she became aware that in record time, Selina had opened up the foiled dish, and grabbed one of the cinnamon buns for herself. She was mid chomp as Obei practically felt a wave of joy in her expression of their taste. It felt wonderful that other people enjoyed her cooking. The oni was working very hard to make sure it was presentable.
"Okay!" Obei said in a content tone, maybe a bit giddy at exploring her new home more. "Obei love to go with Selina to drinks."

Kaito groaned at his desk after the long, alcohol-fueled night at the bar. He barely remembered the bartender Mae, let alone the owner who was pretty sure was called Shion... and he had a fuzzy feeling that maybe he'd crossed a line last night, but his head was pounding too much to be entirely sure or sorry about it.
He let his head rest on his desk, closing his eyes and willing the hangover away with all his might.

SHIONxxxxxMORI The grappled pair of kunoichi appeared in the heart of the CORE compound, locked in their bitter embrace. Almost as suddenly as they had appeared, back up was on the scene. "Do not resist, you're under arrest!" The shouts came from all aroumd them as APD, ANBU, and Oinin alike stood ready to see what happened next. Shion released her grip and dusted herself off. As she wiped her face, Shion whinced momentarily, drawing her hand away to reveal blood. No doubt an injury sustained in the scuffle. Whatever. It was over and she had ample time to hit up the medical bay... ugh... and her desk. This was going to require a lot of paperwork. Wait... paperwork. Oh crab baskets.
The thought of doing paperwork reminded her of the weight stored snuggly in the pouch tied to her hip. One parcel of documentd on a public menace... and Kaito's badge. The weight of the world hit her gut as butterflies flooded every inch of her insides. Shion took a steadying breath to calm her nerves. "you got this." It didn't work and she did not. The trip to the APD wing took what felt like an eternity. Hall after hall, seeming-mile after mile, it ripped at her tooth and claw until, finally, she arrived. Shion walked up to the receptionist, trying her best to put on the cool and aloof appearance she was known for. "H-hey, Im looking for officer..." a brief pause to check the badge for the boy's name. "Kaito... holy shoot that's adorable."
"I cant say exactly where that particular officer works, but youre more than free to go in a look around, Miss Moro," the receptionist said, guiding the way towards the APD offices with a helpful gesture. Shion followed the receptionists directions and almost immediately found who she was looking for. Even amongst the assumed-newbies, his to-die-for babyface stood out. He seemed to be having a pretty rough morning... no doubt she pushed him too far. Her stomach began to tighten up even more at the thought of accodentally ruining his morning. Goodness, he must hate her. Step by step, inch by inch, Shion crept closer until she wqs right in front of his desk, face radiating pink with embarrassed apprehension. "YOU UH... err, you forgot. I... here, she said, letting the badge and folder of files flop to the desk.
Kaito heard the ruckus in the department and tried to cover his ears to prevent them from bleeding. Geez, he was messed up. He didn't look up until he heard a voice too close to be addressing someone else; he looked miserable as he glanced up to see the woman from last night.
She offered him his badge, and his face lit up. "O-oh! Hey, thanks!" He accepted the badge and pocketed it immediately, his hungover state seeming to disappear and be replaced by his more innate, bubbly sunshine-y nature. It was also accompanied by grateful (but somewhat comedic) tears. "Thank you, thank you! Oh you beautiful angel, you've saved me from the stack of paperwork I'd have needed to get a brand new one. Oh, bless," he said as he took her hands and held them like gifts from the gods.
Suddenly, he froze as he remembered himself and the stoic disposition he'd tried so hard to put for her yesterday. Damn if he didn't throw it all out the window, huh? He was doomed to always be the giddy, rule-bending officer he really was. Accepting his fate, he cleared his throat and tried to compensate just a little bit with a deeper voice. "Uh, thanks again. I didn't realize, uh, you were also an officer. And- well, I apologize... for last night. As you can tell, I am quite the lightweight. Despite the stomach trauma, I must admit I had a great time," he admitted a little sheepishly.
Next thing Maeko knew, she was exactly where a once Rogue should never be in their village. That and she could suddenly feel all the bruising from her brawl. Her eyes were wet but she couldn't cry anymore. She was tapped out. Exhausted. All around her Officers made sure she stayed put as they managed to detain her. What came next she hadn't a clue. Maeko felt a mixture of stupidity and regret. What was all this?! Why did she attack these people. This village is her...no Kaito is-was her family...but this village is too...
Maeko was hefted up and walked away. Her cloak was tattered from the scuffle, two holes in the back. Her eyes glossed over, face red and puffy from all her waterworks. A thought suddenly struck her, and that feeling of regret was overshadowed by what Kaito would think. He worked here. He'd hear about the psychotic bone girl. Just the thought of him finding out, nearly broke the girl down again, chest tight with pain. "Stupid...stupid...stupid..."
Dance of the Larch: Absolute Defense [ A ] This is a supplemental technique. The user first prepares themselves by channeling chakra throughout all of their bones. Then, when the user is struck with a tai or bukijutsu technique, the user is able to have a plate of bones first protect the area which was struck equal rank to the strike provided. Then, the user launches a counter attack, which converts the opponentโs strength stat which they used the technique into the speed of which the bone blades rise out of the user to impale the target. Can only be used up to the rank the user has access to. Cost one activation to block the strike, and another to launch the counter strike. If the user only has one activation left, then the block will occur, but not the counter attack. If the user has no activations left, then this ability does not work. This stance last for 6 post. SHIONxxxxxMORI The flock of butterflies occupying Shion's stomach slowly began to disperse as the boy's disposition lightened up. He was certainly brighter than last night, that was for sure. Maybe this kind soul was the real Kaito, finally bubbling to the surface. Cute. Shion's blush intensified as Kaito casually called her a 'beautiful angel.' She suspected it was an innocuous comment, probably with no deeper meaning, but hey... it felt good. Yeah, I actually work over in the ANBU wing," Shion half-whispered, digging the toes of her foot into the carpet.
A few seconds of overly drawn out silence would follow as Shion struggled to put the words she wanted to say together. Her mind ran through every equation to guarantee success in crafting the perfect response; what came out was... not quite that. "Let'sgoout!" Shion hurriedly began, stopping to clear her throat. Er, for lunch or something. I mean, if you want to. I liked last night... I really liked it... err, but I feel bad for pressuring you into drinking with me and now you're ill and I wanna make it up to ya. Lemme buy you lunch or something. The more she spoke, the more she regained her trademark aloofness. It was slow building, and she was still clearly nervous talking to the boy, but progress is progress I suppose.
